I LOVE THIS SPA!!! Tim and his nail technician team ROCK!!! I'm not going anywhere. 10 years and counting

There were 4 of us getting mani and pedis and it was awful. One person who had never had services ever thought the staff was too rough and didn't communicate. My personal nails were completely uneven, the polish was not even and all over my toes and hands. The 3rd person had to take her polish off the very next day because it all peeled off and she had paid for the shellac which is supposed to last 2 weeks. The 4th person was actually somewhat satisfied but thought the price was high for the service provided. We will all be using a different salon now. read more

I recently went for an SNS manicure and I was very disappointed in my services. The manicurist damaged multiple cuticles by using the drill too closely, she made several of my fingers bleed,And they were very tender for several days following the manicure. Wow. That was so bad. The guy who did my nails was very rude and gave me attitude, told me I was wrong when I said how I wanted my nails to look. I told him to not file under my nails, and he told me I was wrong and kept going anyway. I told him again, and he decided to laugh at me. They are also crooked and un even. He kept saying I don't know better, and talked really loud so everyone would hear him telling me I was wrong and didn't understand him when in fact - he didn't give a damn and laughed as he kept doing what I asked to not do! I use to enjoy to get my nails done at this location. However the last three times I had bad experiences. I waited 40 minutes with only one person in front of me and then a family of three came in without an appointment but signed their name on the bottom of the first page by adding lines. They skipped over me and never apologized or offered someone else. I ended up walking out. The last eyebrow wax they took off half of my eyebrow. It has taken six weeks to grow back. I would not waste my money for an over priced poorly managed location. read more

I love this salon. I come here every 3 weeks to get my shellac manicure. I've been to several of the technicians and they all do a really great job. My shellac lasts very long, much longer than the ones I used to get at another popular salon in Cincinnati. read more

I make appointments so that I can get in and out quicker, but I always seem to have to wait at least 30mins after my appointment time. Today I've been here going on 40 now....the place is clean and the staff is courteous but the owner who does the scheduling should not offer appointments here if the system he has in place clearly isn't working. read more

It was my very first time getting a manicure and I went because everyone else I wanted to give me my first manicure was booked or I had to cancel the appointment. They took me right in and was fast in service but NOT IN quality all my friends and coworkers who get their nails done in a regular says their shellac last for about 3 weeks and still looks great just may need a fill in and here I am 6 days later and I can peel them off like stickers. Worst place I ever experienced! Tim is by far the rudest guy on earth!!! I recently got my nails done with the S&S and three days later the top coat started peeling off, so I went in and Tim did not acknowledge my arrival but acknowledged the girl behind me. I sat down and asked if someone would help me and Tim rudely told me to wait! The tech that did my nails kind of disregarded me and told me to sit until someone called me (very dry) I sat there for a minute and then left. I went back so she could redo what she did not do, and the I guess the owner told me all they do are file and trim the cuticles, and never even clean up around the nail. ( i Have very dry skin). I have been coming here for a few years now to get my nails done and I always go to the same person. She typically does a great job and I have referred several clients to her. However, when she feels rushed by the owner, she gets very sloppy. As a person that provides beauty services to people as well, I value my time and my clients. To me, the owner forces them to book appointments too close. When you come to a spa, you expect to be pampered and relax. You also expect your nails to be done correctly and in a sanitary manner. I have witnessed the owner make rude comments to clients on several occasions and try to use humor and laugh it off. This is not ok or how anyone should treat customers. Today, I broke the tip of one of my nails and came in for a quick repair. I called at 9:24am and was told they were open, come on in. When I got here, I was the only one in the salon and the owner was cleaning. I am still sitting here and now 2 other women are being serviced who did not have appointments either. When I spoke up and told the owner that anyone can fix the nail, I was told I am hard and no one else would fix my nail because I am hard. I suppose me wanting my services done correctly is an issue. I wont be back and I don't recommend anyone come to this salon. It's 10:08am and I am just walking out. Tipped the nail tech a few bucks for fixing my nail and I'm out. Will not return, would not recommend. No wonder Ambiance Nails is dominating in Cincinnati. read more

PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT- It is clear they do not value the customers that enter their doors. Not only was I not satisfied with their work on my nails (cuticles were cut too far back and nails filed down too low), I was also treated poorly. I wish I could give no stars. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- I visited this nail salon in April. When I arrived I asked if it was possible to have services completed (mani & pedi) by a certain time. (This meant that I wanted someone to work on my hands and feet at the same time. I've seen it done in this salon before, which is why I thought to ask.) The gentleman who greeted me upon entry said yes and "pick a color" while quickly motioning me to come in. I asked again (wanting to clarify) to be sure my expectations were understood. He confirmed and again I was told to pick a color. While selecting a color the nail tech who I would be working with wanted to know if there was another person with me. I replied and said "No, just me." Ten minutes into the pedicure I asked when another nail tech would begin working on my hands (there were multiple techs available at the time). This apparently was the first she had heard of my time constraints. She clearly became offended and began to talk with the other women in the salon in their primary language (not sure which). Things like a mocking tone of voice, facial expression and body language transcend culture and clearly communicate meaning even if the language spoken is not the same. These women continued to talk about me (in their own language) and were very rude throughout the remainder of my time there. I would have walked out if not for the fact that I had an event to attend and no other options at the time. It was not my problem that the gentleman who promised they could meet my expectations did not communicate this with the women who were to perform the mani & pedi. He rushed me in, because all he saw was dollars without weighing whether or not they could actually do what I was asking. They pissed me off in a big way. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS NAIL SALON AGAIN AND HAVE TOLD EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT IT. read more

I was treating my daughter and my son's girlfriend to manicures before a wedding. We made appointments and arrived on time. We were not taken on time (I was taken 15 minutes late and the girls manis were started almost 1/2 hour late.). My manicure was rushed and the tech was curt and almost rude. Both of the girls were in satisfied with their manicures...one had more gel on her skin than her nails. What should have been relaxing and fun was nothing short of stressful! The place I usually go has gotten to be too busy, especially on Saturdays, so I happened to be in this plaza and decided to stop in to see if they could take me right away. I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello and was told it would be just a couple of seconds! The inside is very large with probably about 20 or so pedi chairs, and maybe about the same for manis. It is decorated very tastefully and is very clean, and I was so happy with the quality of my pedi that I decided to get a mani too. Together they were less than $50! I will definitely be a return customer. The only suggestion I have is to maybe switch the tv's from golf to something more geared towards the female clientele such as HGTV. read more

I am loyal to Essence Nails! I have been coming to the owners since before they had this location...more than 12 years. They have always made my nails come out perfectly. It's beautifully decorated and clean - never smells like strong chemicals. Very welcoming. Both of my parents come here for service, church members, even coworkers who live across the river. I also love the ease of parking. They are reasonably priced with convenient hours. If you haven't come, its time to try it. Their pedicures, waxing... you name it, they offer it. Worst nail place I have ever experienced, and I have been to a lot of nail places! The employees are EXTREMELY RUDE! They are getting paid to do what I want and ask for! However when I told them what I wanted to woman had to nerve to tell me to " be quiet, I am being difficult, I am making her job hard!" Excuse me? This is your job! Please do it right! I have been going to Essence nails for years. I went recently for a pedicure and the owner was very nasty and rude to me for no reason at all. I told him I wanted to wait until the water was running in the pedicure chair before I sat down and he went off on me. Starting talking in his Native language told me to go somewhere else and not to come back. I was completely thrown off. He is usually so nice and appreciative of my business and he treated me like a stole something. I would never in my life return or recommend anyone to this shop. They really don't even do nails well just pedicures. Do not go here they do not treat their customers right , they seem cool at first but the owner is clearly bi polar. read more

This by far has been the worst place ive gone to in trying to get a manicure and pedicure. I went in to get my nails and feet done. I told them I had an ingrown toenail and that the last time I was here (1 1/2 wks ago) I got a pedicure and she didn't get it all the way out. Long story short they told me I had to pay for another pedicure for them to get the ingrown toe nail out I asked if they could just soak the toe as I did not need all of the extra things done I was just in pain, they said they would charge me $27 dollars just to soak the toe and get the ingrown but a pedicure is $30 so I just agreed to get a full pedicure...I didn't want to but said ok. Fast forward she is doing my pedicure and she basically ignores that I told them I needed the ingrown out saying I don't want to get it I'm scared I might make you bleed. HMMM ok well that's the reason for me getting a pedicure because I honestly didn't need one I was just here and you said in order to get it out I would have to get a pedicure!!! I went back and forth with her for about 3 minutes so I said ok ask him (pointing to the owner, I guess because they were talking in their language to one another) to get it out and he said " no I can't I don't want to" so I said look take these wraps off my fingers (I was getting my shellac taken off and redone) and I'm done I will not be continuing this service. She then goes to grab my cell phone saying give me your card so u can pay $10 for what I've done. I said if you don't put my damn cell phone down so I snatched my phone out her hand and she then grabs my coat. I left the place in pain and my hands had half of the shellac off and my polish was off of my toes!!! DO NOT GO HERE, I WAS WARNED AND DID NOT LISTEN SO NOW IM UP EARLY THIS MORNING LOOKING FOR A NAIL SALON TO TAKE CARE OF ME. if i could do NO stars I would....even negative ones! read more

This is one of the best Salons of its kind I have ever seen. It is beautiful and incredibly clean. They have the most amount of pedicure chairs I have ever seen...maybe 18 or so, including 2 pink butterfly chairs for little girls. I have pink and white acrylic nails done by Cam. For the past year I've been seeing a nail tech there named Van who is awesome. However, I will not be returning back. I visited there with my four year old to receive two pedicures early in the morning. They weren't busy when we got there. However, they decided to work on my pedicure while my child sat soaking in the water forever. Four guests walked in after us and received their services before my child. I was livid and ready to just say forget the whole service however, I was halfway finished. Nobody seemed to care and I cancelled my childs pedicure. When the other nail tech came over she was rude and nasty about fixing my polish. I took my daughters for pedicures and had an appointment for 3 chairs at the same time. It wasn't crowded and we had no problem getting 3 chairs together, but I sat with my feet in the water until my daughter's pedicures were almost finished! I tried to be as nice about it as possible and told them politely that I'll just do a polish change instead so we could all be finished at the same time. My tech was MAD and did a terrible job on my polish! She rushed so much that she was clearly trying to make a point.I literally had to take it off when I got home. This was one of my all time worst experiences at a nail salon! I should have known from the start it was going to be bad when the nail technician couldn't get the polish off my toes and insisted I had shellac on. He must have been using water bc I told him I use pure acetone to remove my polish and sure enough acetone took it off w ease. From there he proceeded to file my nails crooked and when I pointed it out he told me my toes were crooked. I finally took the file into my own hands, but it was a lost cause bc he had filed my nails raw. I asked to get acrylic on my big toes to build the nail back up and I was completely ignored . Cherry on top, a sloppy paint job. Then my manicurist did not ask me what shape or length I wanted my nails and did her own thing. Before she started painting them , I asked her to go back and refile them square. She didn't . At this point I asked to speak to a manager. The manager proceeded to argue w me over what a square looks like before finally fixes my nails and toes. Even though I left looking good , I will never ever go back! Took over 2 hours, the staff was rude, and they still charged full price despite their mistakes. You're better off having your nails pulled off with pliers than being worked on by any of these technicians. But don't worry, you'll only have to ask twice before the manager will bring the acrylic to rebuild them! Consider this rating 0 stars. read more

While the decor of the place is ok the customer service and skill level of the nail techs is subpar at best. The techs are clearly being told to rush. My nail tech was the older lady who's name I think is Vin and she is just not good. She's a sweet lady but doing manis and polishing nails are not her forte. She needs to maybe only work the front desk but she doesn't need to ever "polish" anyone else's nails. When I get home I will still need to clean up my nails quite a bit. The man who greets everyone when you come in is as rude as they come. The rest of the staff always seem to be confused and the feeling in the spa is not at all spa like. To add insult to injury don't pay with American Express otherwise they charge you an additional $2. Realllllyyy????? On a bill that was over $100 for two of us to get mani/pedis (no gel) and one brow wax. Hmmmpphhh. Lastly we intentionally did NOT leave a tip because of all that I just mentioned AND my tech also clipped my nail cuticle so hard that I had slight bleeding the entire time. The tech apologized twice but still this is not a place I would ever visit again. Save yourself the headache and find somewhere else to go. If I could have given this place negative stars I would have but one star was the lowest I could give. read more

I was meeting a friend here for a pedicure last Sunday and came in not long after they opened. First, there were no customers in there except for one and 5 techs walking around. I explained I was waiting for a friend and we would both be getting pedicures they told me to pick a polish and I could wait for her to arrive. Due to traffic by the mall she was running behind, and I explained this and told them multiple times I didn't mind waiting. I was pushed and pushed to sit down and "just soak my feet" by the nail techs. So I went over and sat in the pedicure chair to soak my feet... except she started my pedicure the minute I sat down. I asked her to wait, and she kept saying I'm just taking the polish off. It was incredibly frustrating, but thankfully my friend arrived quickly and she was able to sit down. One thing I will say is the place was freezing, they had no heat and it was incredibly cold outside. The techs all had jackets or coats on, and I was so cold it was hard to enjoy the pedicure. Also, not even a week later both my friend and I had our polish peel completely off at least one of our toes. Won't be returning. You would think with a nail salon in the same plaza, across the street and multiple down the street they would try and provide a decent service and relaxing atmosphere. The prices were average, not the cheapest or most expensive I've seen. read more

I do not recommend this salon. If I could give it negative stars I would. I went in for a mani pedi with no polish (I was looking for exfoliation on my feet, shaping, and buffing on my nails). When I arrived there and asked for the services I saw online they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Upon hearing that I didn't want polish on nails my tech began yelling in another language to her boss, who yelled back at her saying what I assume is "you better get her to get polish" because from then on I was HARASSED to get polish. I eventually agreed to the polish. Once I agreed the tech then tried to up sell me on getting shellac, not wanting polish in the first place I forcefully said no. "Oh it will last much longer than polish get get get." I felt uncomfortable and frustrated that they would not listen to my wants and needs. On top of all this the equipment they used on my fingernails was dirt. It was a terrible experience and I will never go back. read more

Came in today and this is my second time here in 2 days. Yesterday I had gotten my nails done by someone who was not my usual nail tech. My nails were lifting and I told her I could feel it lifting. I asked her if I needed a new set but she just filled my nails and glued some of the sides. By last night 2 nails were coming off so I came back to my regular nail tech today. I needed a whole new set, there was water coming into my nails. I paid for this service and for yesterday's (overcharged)and including tips. The owner just proceeded to try to argue with me saying it is my fault they were lifting and that I was in a hurry. Never once did I say that ....he offered no apology no anything. As I was leaving he offered me $5 he said I was overcharged yesterday. I advised him to keep it as I was tired of arguing with that greedy man and the service was the issue, not the money. Needless to say I'm livid and if it wasn't for my nail tech I would not come at all. Super unprofessional the way things were handled... the owner is greedy with no concept of how to run a successful business. Stay away from here... I will tell every single one of my friends not to come. ...also, no need to make an appointment as the owner will still make you wait an hour after your appointment time at the very least read more
