Esta is a women's clothing store which sells new and used clothing. Unlike the nearby consignment shops, they buy the used clothing if they like it and then sell it. The store is located on Bow St., where Denimrack and Blue NYC used to be. I don't buy women's clothing so I'm not a very good judge of what's good, but I saw several things that looked nice. I'm giving it 3 stars because Yelp says that 3 stars mean "A-OK" and I want to get the store listed. With two consignment shops nearby and numerous stores having sales due to the recession, you should be able to find some good deals here. Happy shopping! read more

I wanted to love this place seeing as I found a great deal for a bag there that I had been searching for. After deciding to buy the bag (I'm a college student who doesn't have a lot of money to spend), my friend convinced me to ask if they had a student discount. I normally would be too nervous to ask but seeing as the two consignment shops we went to right before had offered my friends student discounts, I decided I would. When I asked the owner, she proceeded to laugh in my face and tell me I was "cute" for trying. I'm sad to say I regret walking in and giving Esta my business. I've never been treated like that at a shop before, and with great consignment shops like Wear House and Cotillion Bureau nearby, I would never go in again. read more

My girlfriends and I were on a shopping trip and visited Esta in Portsmouth NH. We found it to be very overpriced given the fact that it is a second hand store. Most of the inventory could be found in Kohls and Macy's (not to mention new and less expensive). Lack of designer clothing, unique pieces, and their jewelery selection was fair. Disappointing but found other very nice clothing stores in town. read more

The lady who owns this place is super friendly I did not buy anything but she seemed to really enjoy the customers and had an incredible view at her store. She was very sweet and told us about the town of Portsmouth NH since we never have been there before. She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed there. So, I left a previous review raving about what a fabulous consignment shop Esta is and I still believe if you are planning to shop here, it's a place with great finds. However if you are consigning here, CONSIGNOR BEWARE!!! I consigned a number of items such as dresses, jewelry, etc.... here last Summer. When I checked back in the Fall to see what had sold I was told a number of items that I had consigned had indeed sold and that checks would be issued for payment of these sales within the next month or so. I didn't get back to the store again as I moved out of the area until the Spring of 2018. My bad for waiting so long but the shops VERY BAD for not only not having my check but NOT HAVING ANY RECORD OF MY CONSIGNMENT OR MY SALES! It's as if everything I brought in just vaporized. The owner did indeed find the consignment contract I signed when I brought in my items but any and all reference to the items I brought in or what had sold or the check which was to have been issued to me had disappeared! It appears the shop's owner does everything from a handwritten journal, no computer, no inventory list, nothing so I guess she deems it acceptable when she loses your items, but none the less sells them and you never get paid! So, I will NEVER be consigning here again, ever! And I caution anyone who chooses to bring items in for consignment here to keep copious records of your items and check in early and often to insure your items do not just vaporize into thin air leaving you with no consignment items and more importantly no check for your items. read more

We spent one day of our anniversary weekend, in downtown Portsmouth. The weather was beautiful, but a cool ocean breeze kept me on the lookout for a light sweater the whole day. When I walked into Esta, Ann was incredibly helpful in showing me all the different ones she had, everything from shawls to cardigans. I found a sweater that was perfect, and a lovely handmade necklace to complete my outfit! Afterwards we were encouraged to take a seat on her balcony and enjoy the ocean view. I have been a consigner and shopper at Esta's for many years. Whether you are looking for a special dress, (I have bought many from cocktail to blacktie), something for work (Joseph Ribkoff) or just something new for your wardrobe (Eileen Fischer) I would plan a trip to Esta's. Fantastic selection of shoes and handbags! Ann is very selective on what she consigns. I also appreciate when I try things on that she is honest when it is not flattering. It's a fun place shop, nicely laid out and you'll always walk away with something knowing you got a great deal. Although we live an hour away, it's a trip I look forward to and enjoy. read more

These clothes bear no resemblance to consignment - it is really a super-nice boutique. Hard to imagine that they are used. Not bargain-basement prices...but you get quality for your money. Terrific view of the water, too. Owner and her staff exceptionally nice! read more

I went into Esta yesterday and a friend and I spent over an hour in the store. The clothing was lovely and appropriately priced. I found the owner to be gracious and extremely helpful. She was knowledgeable about the hair clips that are made from kimonos and helped several women put the clips in their hair. She took the time to answer my questions. I am definitely and fan and will return when I go back to Portsmouth. read more

When I consigned there, I signed a contract and was told there would be a 40/60 split. When I returned to pick up the remaining items, the proprietor told me she needed a week to get the items together. She did gather the remaining items while I waited, but the tags were still visible on some of the times. so in effect I received 30 Percent split instead. I consigned 25 items and was told I had only consigned 24. A expensive sweater disappeared. She did not keep a record of my account, but I took pics before hand, so she did give me $14 for it. I would NOT consign there again. read more

Esta's is unlike the other shops in the area in that they buy your clothes (if they choose to) on the spot, however, the money they offer is peanuts. read more
