You might be thinking "Really" someone is giving a mechanic such a high rating after what most of us have experienced when it comes to automotive repair and the cost usually associated with it, which always seems to be at all the wrong times when it comes to balancing the budget. Well if there were a higher rating to give to a business then this place would get a few more stars and they would all be gold. I have a couple older Chevrolet vehicles that would have been in the scrap yard by now if it were not for Tim and his expertise at an affordable rate. My first dealing with Tim was 16 years ago because of an electrical gremlin that had my tail lights on "the blink". I had been to school for auto-mechanics and auto body repair and know first hand how time consuming problems like this can be to diagnose. He found the problem, had it fixed and I was back on the road in ten minutes. Years later my 1993 truck was leaking every possible fluid it could and turned my driveway into a slip'n'slide. I finally got fed up with spending so much money on oil, transmission fluid, and antifreeze that I dropped it off at Esteemed Automotive and now no more puddles. Since then I have been back to Tim for other repairs and modifications on a Tahoe I had recently purchased mainly because either I do not have the specific expensive tools needed for the job or it is over my head and beyond my ability. He is my Go To Guy and never ceases to amaze me with bring my beasts back from the grave. I'll keep going here because Tim is straight shooter and will only do the work you want/need done. If I could give this experience more than 5 stars I certainly would. I actually found Tim and Esteemed Automotive on Yelp and after reading reviews decided it was worth a shot to see if my car could be fixed for a reasonable price by a qualified professional. From the first phone call to inquire about getting things looked at Tim provided fantastic customer service and went above and beyond with explaining to me the issues, making sure I was ok with the work needed and the cost before ever moving on to repairs. As many readers may know (women especially), car repairs can be a real pain for the uninformed or under-informed, this case was definitely the opposite. Clear communication from start to finish and honest pricing without all the added costs you are going to find in most places. I got my car back super quick and have driven it in the TX heat all weekend with absolutely no trace of the issue I brought it in for. I HIGHLY recommend Esteemed Automotive for any repairs you or your family may need. A friend recommended Tim as a thorough mechanic with an attention to detail and quality, so when I had a transmission issue with my Outback I called to ask when would be convenient for him to take a look. I briefly described the problem to him, but he was very busy and politely requested that I bring it in the next day. Later that night, he texted twice and even called me, requesting my engine size and error code (I had used a code reader) so that he could research his professional discussion groups/knowledgebases and be ready to attack the problem first thing in the morning. I was very impressed. That's what I call being proactive. So I dropped the car off first thing the next morning, and he called before lunch to sit down. Uh oh, not good. Yep, its a transmission issue, and while not that hard of a procedure (according to the code), it was a high risk repair with a $700 part and he regretfully recommended that I take it to the dealer, who could get the part much cheaper and would be more familiar with the nuances of Subaru transmissions. I thanked him for his honesty and time, and before I could ask him how much I owed him for his efforts, he said, "Oh, just bring me a burger when you pick up the car at lunch, and we'll call it even." Before leaving Alaska (land of the ice and snow) I had my A/C system recharged I knew I would need it here. After being here for a while it just wasn't working like it should. My husband said someone had told him about Yelp. When I saw all the good reviews about Esteemed Automotive I decided to give it a try. After dropping my car off my daughter who picked me up said don't you find it funny that it is off of Tacon Ln (taken Ln) I said I think it's pronounced (tack on Ln) She said that's funnier yet. Well I have to say I'm impressed,I wasn't taken and definitely Tim did not tack on anything. He was beyond fair and I would use him again anytime. Bless you Tim you are awesome. My car is finally cool so that I am not sweltering in this awful heat. On my way home he even called me about another issue I mentioned about my car which he didn't have to do. He welcomed me to Texas and gave me a great lawn tip also. Now if the pool guy we picked was as great I'd be in seventh heaven. I've been using Tim for 10 + years. As a woman, I always felt like I was being taken advantage of with other mechanics - Not with Tim. He does a great job of explaining what is wrong. He keeps the old parts to show you. He will let you know if something needs to be done NOW, or if it can limp along for a bit longer. He is excellent at what he does. I've called him in a panic when a Good Samaritan jumped my car incorrectly and we couldn't figure out which fuse blew (the big one). I called him after taking my car through a car wash and it wouldn't start. I stopped by to ask him how to remove the bulb from my headlight that was out. He had me go get a bulb from the auto store across the street and changed it out for me - no charge. Most recently, we ran over some debris in the road which had transmission fluid leaking everywhere early on a Sunday morning. I called to say that my car was being towed to his shop and he met the tow truck driver there so my car could be securely inside the fence. My car was hit during spring break and I called a bunch of automotive's shop on a sunday that were all closed. I found Tim Elliot number, called, and even though he was closed he still talked to me and told me to bring my car in first thing in the morning. When I brought it in my car he inspected gave me an estimate and kept to his word even when my car needed more done do to it than the previous headlamp rests and dent push out. He worked hard on my car for a very reasonable price and he was very helpful, open and honest. I do not know about you but that is what I look for when dealing with businesses and people. My car looks better than ever and the greatest thing about it.... you can't even tell that I got hit in the first place. I recommend this service to everyone who needs help on their car... Have you ever walked into an establishment, been greeted by someone, and felt like you knew them. Almost like they are an old friend? Maybe even a friend who you selfishly only call when you need them, but for whatever reason they just keep showing up to bail you out? That's Tim. And that's the feeling I got with only a first impression. He's helpful, fair, thorough, and accurate. But on top of that, he proved to be trustworthy and that's just something you don't come across everyday, especially when said person is rendering services that you can't easily do yourself. Only rarely do you find a mechanic that makes you feel comfortable leaving your vehicle in his hands. We have been going to Tim for a few years now and was referred by a family member who had used him for a while. Right off the back he seemed like a guy that wouldn't BS you and try to get a few extra bucks because of "extra labor" costs. My first impression was correct, Tim isn't someone to BS you and make you feel that all he cared about was making some cash. He was very upfront with what needed to be done, gave an honest assessment, and advised of timeframe. Now 3 different cars later we're still making the trek to where ever he has his shop whenever we need an honest assessment for repairs. The only thing I would improve about others place is he needs to be closer to Oak Hill (where we live now)...but no matter where he is I'll find a way to get my car up to him even if I have to drag it. read more

Thanks to all that take time to write reviews. As a results I read almost all reviews about this place. I wanted to make sure my car was going to be in good hands. I called this place because my car had the engine light on and it was also making a noise when I press the break. I was very pleased with the service. Luckily the engine light went off on it's on after Tim put some air in the tires. He didn't charge for that. He also worked with me as far as my schedule. I didn't get to meet him because I dropped off my car after business hrs and picked it up after business hrs. After reading reviews from Toyota and other places this place had the best reviews. Tim really saved the day! My wife and I are from Houston and we were passing through Austin on our way to a wedding when my Mustang decided to have trouble. We limped into his shop on a Friday at 3pm but he seemed to stop everything he was doing to help us. He gave his "best guess" at the problem (ignition coil) and he was spot on. He got us back on the road within an hour and we made the wedding in plenty of time. If we lived closer his shop would be our go-to place for car repair. He was so concerned he gave us his personal number so we could let him know if we had any other trouble during our trip (which we didn't) and he followed up with us again after we got home. Read the other reviews - they aren't kidding around. Tim is a one-man shop and he's awesome at what he does. Fair prices, killer work, and you can actually trust him and his diagnosis. I don't even live close by here anymore but I'll be coming back if/when my car decides to be a piece of $#!% again. It's one of things where you're glad you met him, but you hate that you met him...know what I'm saying? Also, know what you're getting here - it's not a quick-stop oil change place...in fact, get your oil changed somewhere else. Tim knows his stuff. He is honest, does a trustworthy job and charges fair prices. Last week when my car started having problems I worried that I wasn't going to make it home and instead of waiting to take it to "our mechanic" (Tim), I panicked and brought it to another shop out of convenience. Sure enough, after paying a hefty diagnostic charge and quoted a ridiculous price for repairs that they weren't exactly sure about, I was proven that Esteemed Auto is the ONLY place to take our cars for repairs. Great place to bring your car for repairs! Personable guy who explains things to you and his prices have been much better than other places. He doesn't mind bending his schedule to get your car looked at. He is there looking at it himself and will tell you straight what your options are. As a master mechanic, Tim has done a great job on my 2001 Buick with 175 miles on it. I keep thinking about a new car but he keeps this one running fine with an inexpensive repair a couple of times a year. Before he started working on it, I had to have it towed. I decided to take my car to Esteemed Automotive after reading all the glowing reviews about the shop on yelp. After taking my car there I couldn't agree with them more. I didn't think they exsisted but the Owner and operator Tim is honest and a down right good dude. He fixed an electrical problem for dirt cheap, then diagnosed and identified another problem I had with my vehicle. He offered his services but physically showed me the part that I needed to replace and coached me on how to replace it myself. He saved me $500 easy. Tim was awesome. He was straightforward and his prices a reasonable and fair. I brought in a part I purchased from Nissan and wanted him to replace it because Nissan was going to overcharge me. He replaced the part and went above and beyond to do research on the problem I was having with my vehicle. He did additional diagnostics to ensure I would leave satisfied and with my car fully repaired, which it was. He told me if the problem wasn't fixed he would give me a refund, no mechanic, especially dealerships, offer that kind of service. Esteemed Automotive gets five stars because of Tim's honesty. My Engine began miss firing and needed repairs. He gave me a diagnostic and let me know what I needed to do. I honestly didn't have the money at the time to get the full service. Instead of trying to force me to pay for more work, he let me know that it was possible for me to get it done by myself. I fully appreciate the honesty because some mechanics don't care about your financial concerns. He let me know what was wrong, what needed to be replaced, and how too. I have always been willing to work on my own vehicles, sometimes I just don't have the tools or the time. In my experience anyone can turn a wrench and throw parts at a problem, but what I reall need is an honest person to do what I can not. On multiple occasions I have taken my car in thinking it was one problem, when there was something else I did not see. Most shops would throw the parts and make you pay. Tim pays attention to details and has saved me hundreds of dollars and multiple headaches. Smart and Honest can't ask for much more than that. Glad I found him, wish I knew him sooner. read more

Unfortunately with my CX 7 Mazda, and have been worked on so much with its engine by another mechanic, getting Tim's second opinion he highly suggested to swap out my car for another car before my car has no more value.
