If you want to come to a salon with poor customer service and a shoddy job then this is the place for you. My sister came here after having a good experience last year but she doesn't write reviews. She set up an with Gina on Monday and was there for 2 hours. She had her hair washed, cut and dried. She specifically went in with the intention to get a layered cut and a small area shaved on the back of her neck. She showed her pictures of what she wanted and While Gina was pleasant enough this is not what she got. Her hair has no layers and the area shaved was crooked. After paying $36 and then basically being forced to leave a tip she went home. She called the owner Laura to fix it but experienced further difficulties. From the min that she walked in to the min she left all she experienced was hostility. Laura wasted no time bashing her employee Gina and was rude throughout the entire session. She asked my sister 3 times before she started it she was sure she wanted a haircut. She made no pleasant conversation. She was constantly rolling her eyes and was very hostile. She continuously complained about her other coworker and she had the audacity to say that the shaved area wasn't that crooked and she didn't understand the big deal. The worst part is she was friendly with everyone else except her. Honestly if you're not happy with an employee fire them. If you disagree with the customer have the respect and sensitivity to keep the opinions to yourself. And if you can't keep your behavior pleasant while dealing with customers you shouldn't be in a position where they exist. read more

Not only did the color turn out to be exactly what I wanted but it was multi-dimensional and not flat-looking at all. Great place! From the moment you walk in til the moment you leave you can definately expect the best service. I've gone a few times and Laura and her assistant Yesenia do an amazing job ...which is hard for a hair stylist to do since I have ALOT of thick hair. Three starts ONLY because it was my first time/experience there! Now this place is across & down the street from Avante Garden Salon who I previously gave a not so good review too. After that experience I was about to give up on the idea of having a brazillian blow out on my puertro rican/mexican curly/kinky hair. However, I thru caution to the wind & went on the Brazilian Blow Out Website and found Estilo Divino here in Downey. I called and asked if I could have someone look at my hair to give me advice, a quote and possibly an appointment. They said "Absolutely, come on in!" So I did! Unbeknownst to me, when I walked in it was the owner, Laura, who was consulting me. Basically, she looked at my hair, asked me a few questions and I gave her info because I have relaxed my hair in the past (chemically straighten). She assured me it was a procedure I would love, quoted me a price for my mixed hair according to texture, length & thickness ($250) and I was good to go! I even got a same day appointment and got it handled! I absolutely love it! And the fact that the straightened hair doesnt "grow out" as does with relaxers, it fades out over the course of approximately 12 weeks so you hair returns to its previous state in a more uniform fashion. It's smooth to the touch and doesnt feel mangled when its wet (in comparison to relaxed hair once again). I will be going back and investing in this hair maintenance procedure! It's the amount I spend in hair product over the course of 3 months anyway! So head out to Estilo Divino, and give it a try. Very nice ambiance, great staff and the owner is a sweet heart and down to earth! I'm sure my star rating will go up after a few more visits! read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. Since it was my daughter's baptism I had to get a trim since I had some split ends and my bangs were getting long. I called a few days before the event and was told that James had an opening at 10 a.m. the morning of the baptism which suited me. I arrived and was promptly greeted by James. He asked me how I wanted my hair and I told him I just needed a teeny tiny trim since my hair is very long and low maintenance. I also told him my bangs were a bit long and uneven and would need to be straightened out. Apparently that was too complicated for him. He trimmed my hair which turned out okay (not too hard as it is long and one length) but he messed up my bangs so horrendously that it has been one month and I am still angry. He gave my short (above my eyebrows) Bettie Page type bangs. I just don't understand how he could give me a completely different look than what I requested. I was so unhappy but I was so shocked I could not even speak. I am not cool enough to rock those bangs and felt so stupid and ugly with the bangs. It was such a departure from my normal style that everyone noticed them. And the worst part? The damn bangs are forever immortalized in my daughter's baptism pictures. Ugh. read more

Coco is the best! I have been receiving 1 hour massages from Coco for quite some time now. Sometimes I am so stiff and in pain that Coco has to put much more effort and pressure than I'm sure she does on other clients. But every time I leave the place, I feel 100% better. I have also had the pleasure of receiving facials from Coco. Her facials are great! Okay, so I followed James, my official hair straightener, from another salon in Los Angeles to this one! This salon is not even close to where I live, but between James' wonderful care to my hair and the great salon atmosphere, I will continue to come back. My stylist is not only a great stylist, he is a great conversationalist. So, it's true what they say, "When you have a great stylist, you have yourself a therapist". Everyone else who works here is very friendly. They have coffee, which is ALWAYS appreciated. And James even lets me book my appointments super early in the morning so I can avoid traffic. I came to Estilo Divino to get hair extensions for my wedding. After my consultation with Elisa we decided to do the longest possible extensions with micro link technique. I paid the deposit of half down and booked an appointment for a month later, the week of my wedding. Elisa did a great job on my hair- the extensions lasted three months and would have lasted at least six if I didn't get annoyed with the upkeep and take them out. The good thing about the micro links are they are reusable so they can be adjusted many times as your hair grows and you can save them and reapply them later if you want. They also have NO damage to your hair. I've had sew in, glue in, fushion, and bond extensions and they all cause damage by ripping out your natural hair but these caused no damage to my hair. Elisa made them blend perfectly and also cut my hair after to make them look even more natural. Elisa also did my hair the morning of my wedding, curling my extensions and it came out beautifully! My sister also came in to et her hair styled and the lady who did hers did a great job too! I would have given this place five stars except for the fact that it cost me 1200 dollars for the extensions, not including tip. It was my wedding and I didn't do a lot of shopping around for the best price so just decided to splurge. I have no regrets but it would be unrealistic for me to pay this everytime I wanted extensions. read more

I went in for a hair do. Pretty simple half down half up w/a bump. No curls, no blow dry. The stylist did a descent job. It took her about 20-25 mins for the complete job. The service didn't include a wash. I was satisfied w/the work but did think I over payed $50. I felt the service was worth maybe $35-$40 max. I will try this place once again for a color and cut. If they over price me again then I will have to look elsewhere. read more
