Their technician used a rough method that was unsuitable for the table's finish. He placed a dirty piece of cardboard on the table, weighed it down with sandbags, and dragged the cardboard around to trace the shape. The result was they created over 35 scratches on the surface. To repair the table, I was quoted $3,250 to do a full refinish of a table that had never been used. Despite having pristine "before" photos of this table before they arrived, Michael Hill and their technician Pavel from Artlook Glass denied responsibility and maintained it was not possible for their process to have caused the scratches. This denial was quickly put to rest by the professional furniture restorers I brought in who confirmed that dragging any material -- especially one that's dirty or abrasive -- across a high-gloss surface will cause the scratches that resulted. In the end, Artlook Glass offered me a token discount of about $150, an amount woefully insufficient to cover the $3,250 repair cost. Accidents can happen, but the company's refusal to acknowledge their mistake and make it right speaks volumes. If you value professionalism, responsibility, and respect for your home and furnishings, I recommend that you avoid this company. They have proven themselves unwilling to accept responsibility for damage they caused and are quite comfortable leaving their customers holding the bag.
