Flores Lakeway 12/10/25…read more 4 people dining Wednesday night approximately 6:30-7:30 pm. No problem with drinks and ordering. We ordered queso for an appetizer, then 4 dishes (4 people). 3 of the dishes arrived at a reasonable time, but the 4th was not delivered. After 5 minutes we inquired about the 4th dinner. Again, after 5 more minutes we asked again. Another 5 minutes we found a "manager", who went back to the kitchen to inquire about the food. A full 10 minutes after that, the 4th plate arrived. 2 of us had already finished our plates. Excuses were: waitress was training, didn't understand the order. Kitchen didn't receive the order. Only one of us received a drink refill (after asking), the other 3 of us never received a drink refill. "Manager" was slow to come to our table to address any issue. We waited another 15 minutes then asked for the check. This is the first time in about 6 months that we have returned to this location. Usually the food is about a 7 out of 10, tonight the food was about a 6 out of 10. And the last dish (carne guisada) was awful. My son took a few bites and said it was not edible. I tried it and agreed. They took it off the bill. Probably won't return for a while (if we run out of other local options). In general we dine out 2-3 times per week (lunch or dinner).

It's super clean and really comfortable. Like, the kind of place where you sit down and immediately think, "Yeah... I could stay here for a while." The ambiance is laid-back, cool, and just easy. Now let's talk food--because WOW. The tacos were packed with flavor and seriously delicious. No complaints there at all... I might've been a little too happy while eating them. I did get a skinny margarita, and I'm not gonna lie--it was good, but it showed up looking a little... shy. Smaller than I expected and a bit pricier than I would've liked. But hey, the food definitely made up for it, so I'll let it slide this time. And the staff? Super friendly across the board. The waiters, manager, bartenders--everyone was cool, welcoming, and just easy to talk to. Makes a big difference. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great food, great people, great vibe... just maybe order two margaritas if you're feeling festive.

Had to get the green chile queso too, which is creamy, addictive perfection with fresh chips. The tacos are pricey at around $5-6 each, but the portions are huge and the flavor combinations are creative. Casual counter-service setup with paper baskets makes it easy and laid-back. Torchy's started as an Austin food trailer and still delivers on that "damn good" promise. Great spot when you're craving bold tacos and legendary queso.

I heard they had sold off a huge majority stake to another company, and it really shows. Definitely not an ATX thing anymore. Quality control for tacos in Austin out the window. :( Staff was very unanimated. Not rude, cordial, but certainly not friendly. I ordered an off menu item -simple refried beans and cheese in a flour tortilla- and was told it would be four dollars. When I looked at my receipt they charged me 7 bucks; just a few cents less than the Steak Fajita taco I ordered. Rip off IMHO. Both tacos were thrown together so sloppy, with torn tortillas and everything. Sounds very nitpicky I know, but how hard can it be to at least get the ingredients inside a tortilla when you order a taco? Very messy. And the fajita meat had too much gristle on it for my liking (tough). On a positive note, the self service station was very well stocked and clean. Half of the large restaurant consists of four top tables that reads family friendly. The entire other half and patio is totally a local "bar" hangout. It was very apparent there were lots of regulars drinking (and not eating), talking very loudly amongst themselves. So if that's the vibe you seek, this is a joint for you. Um, cheers!

Review: VIVEL - Lakeway…read more VIVEL in Lakeway never fails me. Every single time I come in, the food is perfect. It truly feels like a neighborhood restaurant that everyone loves--locals constantly gathering here for coffee, great food, and good company. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, making it a place people naturally return to again and again. This visit, I ordered the classic hamburger with French fries, and it was excellent--simple, fresh, and cooked just right. I also had their Moon Latte, which was absolutely delicious. Everything was spot-on. VIVEL is a wonderful place to enjoy time with friends, family, and even children. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for incredible cuisine, great coffee, and a warm neighborhood vibe.

The food is consistently good, and most of the staff have always been incredibly sweet, welcoming, and helpful. That said, we had a really disappointing experience during our last visit that felt worth sharing. A younger female employee with a long dark ponytail brought our food over, I think she was a food runner - but she wasn't wearing the Vivel branded t shirt like the other employees. When my husband politely asked for ketchup, she visibly rolled her eyes before bringing it. When I then asked if I could please have a knife (I'm seven months pregnant, for context), she started to walk to get one, took two steps, turned back and said "you can go get it yourself". It felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, especially given how quiet the café was at the time. We stayed for a while after and watched her standing by the counter organizing utensils, so it wasn't a matter of being too busy. We really like this place and will continue coming back, but this interaction stood out in a negative way and didn't reflect the level of service we've experienced before.

I've eaten at my fair share of TBs over the years. Like other FF chains, you pretty much know what to expect from Taco "Hell" in terms of food quality, service, and price. Typically meh...we're not talking 5-star dining here after all! However, after living in the area for over two years and visiting this Lakeway TB about a dozen times or so, I can honestly say "It's as good as it gets!" [taking into account the fast food factor]. Never an incorrect order, always super, super friendly employees (maybe that's why a few others have stated the staff are "weird" because they're not used to seeing smiling faces at joints like TB - lol - alien), and they take care in preparing the grub correctly. Icing: location was just completely remodeled; not that I ever thought it needed any TLC in the first place. So, snaps for Lakeway Taco Bell! I might feel bad about eating the food afterward, but am always a happy camper when making the trek home to munch and crunch in front of the dumb-box. :D There's a reason why they stay open late...and thanks for the spiffy wetnap and mints included in the bag...very much needed about that time!
