She took her time and made sure I was comfortable and provided incredible service. Brooke was talking me through most of the things she was doing. The room you go into has classical music playing, a Velcro towel that you put on yourself before the facial and there's a small lamp in the corner that provides just enough light to make you feel relaxed. I bought my boyfriend and I a month tanning package, to get a base before going on a cruise. I have medium to dark skin, to start, but being winter wanted a little color. I had tanned several times before tanning in their big bed. The one that when you walk in, it's on the right side with sliding doors. The last time I went, I went home took a shower, and I noticed three blisters on my body, my wrist, my breast and the back of my leg. When the fluid drained and opened up I had third degree burns. Some pictures shown :( I had to be put on a prescription burn cream to prevent infection and help healing. This was a week before my cruise. I was instructed NO pool, hot tubs, or ocean! Great vacation. I cleaned three wounds on vacation. Still treating the one on the back of my leg today. I reached out to the owner in tears-- Not only I'm I suffering with third degree burns, but my vacation was destroyed. All that money spent was a waste! I asked for a refund on my packages, which was around $200.00. Nothing more. He refused and instead he offered me other services the salon has to offer! Like I would ever step foot in that building again. He hide behind his store manager and he could have done right by giving me back what I paid that I never used to the fullest. This salon ruined a $5,000.00 cruise vacation, I had planned for eight months. He should be ashamed of himself! After gathering some recommendations about what I was looking for, Ash & Willow was the place I chose. So to start there isn't any dedicated parking for this salon. And lest you get confused, as I did, whilst trying to find the entrance, it is not at the "point" of the salon that faces the corner of Devon and Talcott, but rather about part the way down the block on Devon. It's a very elegant salon; comfy chairs, chandeliers, the whole works. Up front they have their merchandise and also seem to sell things by other creators--jewelry, textiles, etc.--along with their hair and skincare merchandise. Kevin Murphy, Milbon, Alastin, and Aveda are some of the brands you'll find here. I had an appointment with Shante, and she was great. Very warm and friendly, and I quickly felt a rapport with her. She did a great job on my my color, and we discussed other styles as well. I've been considering cutting it, which is usually just a couple inches to clean off the ends and re-establish the layers, but I may go a bit shorter. I'm also thinking about balayage as we move into spring. Shante is also a curly hair expert, and since my daughter has beautiful curls I will probably take her here once she starts getting her hair cut. And I wouldn't mind knowing better how to manage my own curls, and I'll be glad to have Shante's experience and expertise to guide me.
