Customer service after the sale is nonexistent. (1) I paid $520 for a lamp that has a loose base and leans to one side. I tried to tighten it with no luck. The Sterling, Virginia, store has zero interest in fixing it. I mentioned it in a message to my sales person, Holly, on October 2025 but expressed greater concern in November, with two more follow-up messages in December. I called again in January and was told that, according to an email sent to her by customer service, not me, maybe the lamp was sitting on its cord. It wasn't. She said maybe the plastic liner used in the opening for the cord from base to the bulb has caused it to lean. The plastic lining doesn't touch the floor. (2) There were months-long delivery delays for my total order (four months in my case), probably due in some cases to the location where some of the furniture is made. The lamp was made in Dongguan, China, by Stars Lighting and Furnitures (plural), model ST-F. My copy of that model appears to violate the stability requirements promised by ETL, the testing laboratory listed on the lamp label. read more

This Ethan Allen is large and the staff is very helpful. I can certainly recommend Jennifer who I work with to pick out different pieces for my place. She always remembers what I have bought and is great about following up about my previous purchases and is very accessible if I want to talk about other options. The showroom is large and they usually have fairly decent sales. The furniture of course is amazing. Hand-made, high-quality, and made to last. I have bought custom couches, dressers, side tables, head-boards among other things and I have appreciated the staff in helping me pick out great furniture. I have an Ethan Allen dresser that has been in my family for over 50 years so needless to say you pay more but the furniture lasts unlike some other places... Anyways if you want to work with a professional designer and want to start small with one piece to build a room around or if you want to buy it all in one fell swoop you will get quality service and a product! read more

Sales rep will tell you they fix everything or replace it if they can't. Long story short after paying $800 for a policy two of my tables (only months old) were destroyed by Guardsman- they basically spray painted the surface of my tables destroying the finish and causing a gritty overlay. Short story....In the end, I am happy with the furniture and believe that EA does care that every customer is ultimately happy with their purchase. The low rating is because of the hassles involved, and the fact that my now final delivery is more than a year after the original delivery was expected. Details of the drama are below: I have done a lot of window shopping at this store, and found the staff to be helpful. But when it came time to purchase, I opted for the internet (just because it was more convenient). I ordered a headboard and dresser... not the nightstands and a second dresser because I just wasn't crazy about the specific pieces that went with my collection, and was undecided about how to proceed with those pieces. - It took a long time for the order to be ready, about 8 weeks if I remember correctly, but it met the expectations that they set. - The person scheduling a delivery was a real nightmare and extremely rude. I am also not a fan of the way they schedule it - they call you and set up a delivery appt within that calendar month - it was about 2 weeks out from the date of the call. They want you to block the ENTIRE day of expected delivery and they will have an automated service call you 2 days before and tell you which 4 hour time frame they expect to be arriving. -The delivery truck was late -later than the 4 hour window they chose, but the delivery guys were VERY pleasant. They assembled the bedframe and did a great job. -I am pleased with the bed. I can jump up and down on it and the headboard doesn't move. My husband is over 200 points, and a year after receiving the bed, it still shows no stress on that side from his weight. It's a great piece of furniture. -BUT, the drawers in the dresser were extremely difficult to open. The delivery people said they'd send a repairman to make it better. (OK, I guess, except NOW I have to work another appt into my schedule.) -Setting the appt with the repair company was pretty easy, but it was about 2 more weeks before they could come - we're now at about 12 weeks from the order date.) The repairman (an outside company) walked in the door and told me most people have trouble with the drawers and that he can't make it that much better. He proceeded to fulfill the expectations he set - you could tell he did something, but they still didn't open easily. - I let EA know I was still disappointed with my dresser. They said they'd find a way to make it better, and they'd call me back. She asked me to give her a week or so. Two weeks went by, I followed up.... the regional manager said she'd forgotten about me. Wonderful. Then, the third week went by and we were into the 4th week (this is now about 4 months from the time I ordered) without further information. I follow up again. The regional manager realizes that even though she arranged for me to get a new dresser, and she thought she emailed me, she'd actually emailed someone else in her company. I guess that could happen, but ugh. - About a month and a half later we're scheduling another delivery.... .same issues. They come out with the replacement dresser - it's worse than the first. I sent it back. I have a tantrum, explain the value of my time and that SOMEONE could open the freakin doors before they put it on the truck. - A third dresser is on it's way. At this point, we're about 8 months from the original order, and I am no longer working my schedule around theirs...it takes months to set up delivery because of summer vacations and such. -GUESS WHAT? About 14 months after original order I actually have a great dresser!!!! So, if you don't mind waiting a year to get a nice piece, and arranging to be at home for appointment several times, then this is the place for you. I do love the furniture, and I am pleased that they worked and worked until I was satisfied with the furniture..... and it is beautiful. It's just a shame that the process was so arduous and time consuming. Now I have to decide what to do about those "other" pieces (nightstand and 2nd dresser) as I still haven't found anything (I wanted to make sure I was keeping THIS furniture and not sending it all back). read more

Satisfied with our new bookcase and their customer service. When it arrived, the finish looked darker then I expected based on what I saw in showroom. Salesrep actually came to my residence to verify I got the finish I ordered. Turns out the lighting in my home is not as bright as their showroom, so I should have ordered a lighter stain. Horrible experience with Ethan Allen. Do not order anything from this company!!! Ordered leather couch, waited several months for it to arrive and then it was damaged by delivery people when they delivered. Ethan Allen was slow and unresponsive, I had to call corporate office in order to get someone to come and look at the damages. This took many many phone calls. They send a technician out( which means I have to spend yet another day away from work ), they take photos etc. agree that the couch is damaged and claim to order me a new one. This is the regional director. That was May 3! It is now almost 5 months later and I've heard nothing from them and every phone call goes straight to voicemail and no return call. Even called corporate office for director of consumer satisfaction only to be able to leave a voicemail and no return phone call. I'm so out raged. This couch was not cheap over $5000 ... I will never again order from Ethan Allen! My next up is the Better Business Bureau and an attorney !!! ( I would've left zero stars but yelp required to at least leave one star) read more

Ethan Allen needs to keep some serious business hours. How can working people make purchases when the store closes so early in the evening? My husband and I have driven by the showroom countless evenings when we were shopping nearby and stood there with our noses pressed up against the window wishing we could go in and spend some hard earned money on the furniture displayed there. But the doors are always locked early in the evening. We can go to Arhaus in the Mall until 9pm every night, or Z Gallery and other furniture showrooms in the area. Want to make a sale? We originally chose Ethan Allen because we knew we would be getting quality pieces that would last for many years. We were also interested in the free design consulting, as we found the task of pulling an entire room together a bit overwhelming. I highly recommend Kelly Stieff as a Design Consultant at Ethan Allen in Sterling! We contacted Kelly for the redesign of the main level of our townhome. Kelly worked with our budget and helped us choose the important items we would need to complete a finished look. She gave recommendations for things we might be able to do on our own and also gave recommendations for items from Ethan Allen that we could add to our design once we had more room in our budget. She was patient with us from start to finish. Most importantly, she was always receptive to our feedback and criticism, while never hesitating to tell us her honest thoughts. There were moments when we were hesitant, especially with a recommended floral pattern design (we'd never done floral patterns before!), but we trusted Kelly and in the end everything was absolutely PERFECT! Our house finally feels like a home and we love it! We've received feedback from many people and are just so thrilled with the overall experience at Ethan Allan. We are happy to have had the opportunity to work with Kelly, and we hope to use her again when we're ready to design the lower level of our home.
