Board & Brush Westminster - Raw wood to finished home decor!

What a fun thing to do!…read more Whether you have never used a hammer before, or never attached hanging hardware on a photo, you can still create something beautiful for your home! I visited the Board & Brush Westminster location with three girlfriends and it was so much fun - and making a wood sign was easy! The steps were simple - and the hosts helped us each step of the way. First, you choose a design (over 500 designs) online when you RSVP for your event date. When you get to the studio, your project is ready for you! We sanded, we pounded (distressing the wood), we stained, we sanded again, we painted, we sanded again, and we coated our final products. Then, we attached the hanging hardware. This is fun for people of all ages! Men, women, children - it's easy to do and you get to create a wonderful masterpiece for your home, office, porch, man cave, she-shed - wherever! One friend created an awesome shelve to hold some of her pet's supplies (leashes, etc.) and she customized it with her pets' names Another friend created a beautiful sign welcoming friends into her dining room. Another friend created a stunning piece welcoming friends to her home. I created a round "whiskey barrel" customized with my sweetheart's "road name" for his man cave. He loved it! Book your event today - so much fun!

This is my second time having a paint class like this, and I was so impressed by Vanessa, our…read moreteacher. She was super patient and encouraging, especially when we became downtrodden during the process- she really broke down each part and offered different ways to teach it. She was amazing! The $30 entry fee included the cost of paint, canvas, teacher, cleanup and the studio- super reasonable. There is parking in a parking lot out front, which is really convenient (don't be tricked by the No parking signs- those are for Chubbys customers) Drinks were super affordable- mimosas were $5, beer and seltzer were $5, and then they had various prices for glasses or bottles of wine based on the shelf they were on. Although no one else has any experience painting, we all had a decent product to take home and display. You don't need to be an artist or have any experience to enjoy the class! Highly, highly recommend this, especially Vanessa!

Always a fun experience! I've never been to this location but was excited to try it! I specifically…read morechose this location because of the painting they were doing :) it was Starry Night! The front parking lot is a little small so get there early! They suggest getting there 30mins before the class starts so you can check in, get a smock, pick your station, and order beverages! Everything was set up when we arrived so we picked a table that had four canvases cause there was only four of us haha The instructor was fun and energetic! She took us through the steps in stages! I didn't feel rushed! She also encouraged asking questions or coming up for a closer look at the canvas! Her counterpart was also roaming the room offer help and suggestions! Overall it was a great experience with two great instructors! The location was good too! I would go back if they had a painting I wanted to do :)

Went Wednesday night with a friend to "paint your pet". You…read moreemail them a photo of your pet, they sketch it on canvas, and you paint it! It's one of the best classes I've seen out there since the painting is so personalized. It's also a bit more expensive than other classes because of the extra work that goes into it ($50). I think this class is better suited for people who have painted a couple times, or more. Next time I'll try a class where we're all painting the same thing, so it's harder for me to mess up. When all the pets look so different, it's hard for them to help you mix paint colors and walk you through every step. Some of the paintings were AMAZING and you could definitely tell these people had inherent artistic skills. People were looking at mine and smiling politely... haha. My painting is no masterpiece, but it sorta-kinda looks like Izzy. My fiance laughed at it when he saw it, but it was the first painting I've ever done! The instructor was helpful, and she went around to everyone giving them pointers and tips. The class included a drink, and they had little appetizers (mini meatballs, cheese, crackers, grapes, peanut M&M's!!!!!, hummus). It's a really cute space, and a fun thing to do with friends. Definitely recommend! P.S. There is a garage with free parking right behind the studio.

Art on the Brix has a really cool "open studio" on Tuesdays (less than $30). I had a great time…read morethere, the owners were very accomodating. It was a very relaxing experience, totally open-minded, and a lot of fun! Highly recommended to anyone in the greater Denver area for a visit to try the "open studio". I was surprised that the cost was so low when let you take your canvas with you, which is moderately sized. This would be an absolute blast to come with a group of ~10 people. They have a "paint your date/mate" night - where you can do a portrait of the person you come with. Sounds like a blast - I fully hope to get back there. Beer/wine is available for purchase too, at less than restaurant prices. My only complaint, is that it's hard to find. If you enter from the main street, there's minimal street presence. There's a small sign out front, so don't look for a large window near their address. You need to follow down a hallway before you arrive at the studio. I think it's possible to get there faster from the back side of the studio? Anyway - give yourself time when trying to find the studio. I was surprised to see that other reviews posted were less positive. Reaction to other reviews: --"better suited for someone with painting experience": I've never painted before, and was entirely not intimidated by the environment. I felt no qualms trying funky patterns! --"cancelled birthday party": this definitely sounds like a nightmare. My experience was very unstructured (dropping in to an open studio), so this was not a problem. The staff was very friendly and provided help whenever needed.
