We stopped by Ethel M Chocolates inside the California Hotel and Casino during our Vegas trip. The store has a ton of chocolate options, but I'll be honest -- it was more expensive than I expected. We bought some to bring back, but I didn't even get to try one at first because my kids and wife ate them all. I finally managed to grab one later and was actually surprised by how good it was. Really smooth and flavorful. I'd stop by again when I'm in town or see if there's a location closer to home. We had to visit this branch at the California Hotel on our last day in Vegas before we checked out. They had pretty red heart boxed chocolates since Valentines is coming up. They also had a decorated box of chocolates designed for the Super Bowl as they are sponsors. The lady working was the best ever. She answered my questions for popular flavors. I picked up a small brown fabric Ethel M's tote to keep the candies we bought from shifting. She knew I wanted them to arrive home in good condition so without asking, she bagged them separately in 2 cellophane bags then into the fabric bag and then into a larger tote bag. What a great facility, clean and friendly. We arrived a little early and walked around the cactus garden, impressive. At 4:00 we entered the tasting room and were happily greeted. Two staff greeted us warmly. Tasing was fabulous - wonderful chocolates paired with wine. The chocolates were so good. We brought some home. When the tasting was done we walked around the cactus garden full of Christmas lights. It was a great experience except for limiting the number of chocolates we brought home. read more

I love this cute shop that's located on the 2nd floor of the California Hotel and Casino. It's such a fun little shop as soon as you walk in you get greeted by the friendly employee that's working that day. She's asks you if you would like a sample. I was like ooooo yes for sure so we tried the macadamia nut milk chocolate and the peanut butter chocolate. So yes I ended up buying 4 of these cute little chocolates as they were $2.50 each. So the total came out to 10.00 no tax. We ended up purchasing milk chocolate macadamia nut, peanut butter and 2 white chocolates! They were very yummy. I should have picked up a box before I left but I didn't. Oo and they're at the LAS airport close to the gates that Hawaiian Airlines flies out of! This is a place I have been going to for over 20 years. I have taken my son and also my step-kids. Now we are carrying on the tradition with the grandkids. This is a great inexpensive Christmas holiday place to check out and is also great and free to check out the factory even not during the holidays! We did not try any food while we were there but they now have trucks in the back that serve food and drinks. My husband was able to get a beer which he was super happy about. It was gorgeous, they did a great job decorating for Christmas. They have Santa available for pics and you are not required to purchase the pics you can take your own if you want. read more

This review is for the little shop in the California Hotel. I believe the lovely lady's name was Debbie. Debbie was extremely upbeat, patient, warm, and friendly. I had initially stepped in to buy a few chocolates and was looking around at the boxed items out of curiosity; and as I did so she answered questions I didn't realize I had. In the end I purchased a self-selected box of candies which came with its own color picture and description of the chocolates. This allows the receiver to know exactly what they were selecting to try next. My "couple of chocolates" went to an entire box and I couldn't have been happier. And when I was ringing up Debbie asked about military and other discounts, so I even got a little off. She then would not accept a tip for her help, saying they're not allowed. I was visiting Las Vegas for a week and this place came up as one of the spots you should visit. We came here on a week day and there people there be it was not packed. When you walk in they greet you and offer you a piece of milk chocolate or dark chocolate to sample. You then can walk down the glass enclosed kitchen for a self guided tour. If you come during the correct time of day (we did not) you can watch them making the chocolate. The tour ends in the gift shop where they have a tom of great chocolate options. This is a great place to stop if you are looking for gifts to bring home. The chocolate is on the expensive side but you are paying for quality chocolate so it's worth it. After you're done shopping you can walk out side and take a tour of their impressive cactus garden. The have so many different kinds of cactus. The have little signs telling you the names of the different ones. I definitely recommended a visit if you are in the area. read more

Happened upon Ethel M. Chocolates kiosk in the Las Vegas airport. I'm glad I did. After looking into the history and flagship store & gardens, I wish I would have had time to visit and tour. I like the dark chocolate liqueur-filled bonbons, and the fruity cremes, Oh! and the chewy caramels. After I got home, I ordered a box of 70 for myself for Mother's Day, cuz family did not act on my not-so-subtle hints. They took care in shipping and arrived in a cold pack. Two of the flavors were not as good as I remembered. I contacted customer service, they investigated, and a week later I received compensation with a thank you note. The customer service is above and beyond in this day and age. I would definitely order again and buy as gifts for others. Next time I'm in the greater LV area, I'm going for a tour Ethel M. Vegas Golden Knights chocolates! Located in the California Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas, this location of Ethel M Chocolates is the most convenient for me because it's on the 2nd floor of my mom and aunt's favorite hotel. There are often special deals...like buy two boxes and get one free... However, I'm always worried about the chocolate melting in the desert heat. I guess I should purchase gifts from this store in the winter! Or get the peanut brittle... The friendly workers gave me a sample and suggested this non-melting candy as a great gift... Ahh... I didn't want to carry it to the JLo concert... haha! Anyway, what drew me in to the shop this time was the packaging with the Vegas Golden Knights logo. There also were box covers with pictures of famous Las Vegas sights, and even a box shaped like a slot machine! Beware the chocolate strawberries are bad. The 1 stars is for the chocolate. The chocolate is good but the strawberries are beyond expired so if it tastes weird, you are eating chocolate covered decaying fruit. Also of the 3 I bought, two are huge and one was puny. Tuesday 11/16/10 head down to Ethel M factory for the annual "Lighting of the Cactus Garden". Was told there will be 3D lights that with the glasses provided will make it seem like snow falling! There are also several beautifully decorative boxes with delightful chocolates inside. They make wonderful Holiday gifts. Today I picked up a box of my favorites, nuts and caramels. Having been visiting with family at "The Cal" I wondered upstairs and found myself staring at boxes of sweet chocolates and couldn't resist. If only they made no sugar added, or low carb candies! This was a terrific experience for me and my kids. You can visit the chocolate factory for free or for a small fee you can pay to become a professional chocolatier. Me and my kids took the chocolatier class and my kids loved it .w e learned about how to eat chocolate the right way and how to appreciate the aroma and flavor's. It was awesome seeing the inner workings of a chocolate factory seeing the machines make the chocolate and of course eating the chocolate. Is very fascinating.
