What a great time we had on our excursion navigating through the high desert of "Pick a Boo…read moreCanyon", our guide was J.c. and let me tell you this gentleman was a fantastic guide/host of our excursion. J.c. holds a wealth of knowledge and experience of the lay of the land, we were a party of four in one utv and there was a party of two in another utv, with J.c. leading the way through twist and turns to get to the canyon, the ride to get there was a great experience in its self!, it was a bumpy ride but that's the lay of the land!, your going to get dusty and dirty so expect it, and you need closed toe shoes as well. It's about a 15 minute ride from the base to the entrance to the canyon and well worth the ride!!, but when you get to the canyon that's where nature and J.c. wow you with such grand beauty and the wealth of knowledge that J.c. shares with you and the hike that you take through the canyon, nothing strenuous or stressful at all. You spend time exploring through the canyon and that's where you can take great pictures of the walls and the different topography that is there!, the weather was mild, mid to high seventy's so your comfortable in light layers, but again you will be dusty/ dirty but it's well worth it, pricing if fair, so make sure you book with them for any specials or discounts that are available, it's about a two hour excursion, so you really get your $$$ worth. So do your self a favor and book with this company and book one of the many excursion that is available to you!, again or guide/ host was J.c. super cool guy, and I know everyone else there that are guides are great as well, but J.c. was our guy.

Absolutely worth every penny, every minute of our time spent on the ranch, and all the seconds over…read morethe phone with Jackson! There is a reason to everything that they tell you, and the process you go through to get to the most rewarding experience with these beautiful horses. If you lack patience, discipline, and are only looking for instant gratification, this experience is not for you. If you're not going to listen, and are not open - this experience is not for you. From the start, Jackson sets the pace for the process. Do NOT come here expecting your hand to be held. You need to hold your own and it's for good cause. This was the most beautiful experience that my family and I could ever have together with such amazing animals. You will be wrecked, because no other place does it like they do at Jacob's Ranch. What Josh, Michelle, and Annika do is so special. Jackson isn't lying when he says it's not a nose to tail experience. Be ready to get down and dirty, to work, and be a leader. We will never forget this experience and I don't recommend it for everyone but I do recommend it to those who are open and willing to learn and reap the rewards. My family and I never worked with horses, never been up this close to horses, and most especially never rode horses like this before. At the end of the day, we could proudly say that we did it! We rode them up and down hills, through narrow trails, trotted through open dessert, while the sun was high in the sky till it was beginning to set for the night. We were on this journey with a couple from SC, who have been on horse rides all over the world and they said they've never been to a place like Jacob's Ranch. Needless to say, at the end of the day- we were all so proud of ourselves and amazed at the adventure we had together!

Jakson will talk for nearly an hour yet tell you nearly zero details about the ride, he kept me on…read morethe phone forever without giving me any clear information. Instead, he insulted me, saying I "don't know anything because of my age," and bizarrely tried to convince me to read the Quran while speaking poorly about other religions, and political stances, totally unprofessional and inappropriate for a business call. After the call, he rang me back 20 minutes later acting like he didn't remember me and insisted I sit through a 30-minute "discussion" about what the experience entails. Yet every time I said I was ready to hear it, he wouldn't stop with his condescending and abusive remarks. At that point, I realized booking with them wasn't worth the frustration. Based on other reviews, this is clearly a pattern, very odd, avoid at all costs!!

Riding along the backside of the Zion mountains…read moreprovides incredible views, and that part of the experience was something I genuinely appreciated. That said, a few things took away from what could have been a great experience. The horse I was assigned, Dash, had a very nervous temperament throughout the ride. She would frequently get startled and suddenly run forward, which made the ride feel unpredictable and unsafe at times. At one point she jolted so abruptly that I was almost bucked off, which ended up causing a pinched nerve that I'm still dealing with. Because of Dash's temperament I also couldn't ride near my partner, so we spent most of the ride separated. As first-time visitors to the area, I was also hoping to hear some history or information about the landscape we were riding through. Instead, there was very little guidance or storytelling during the ride. If it weren't for the light conversation from Wendell, the wrangler riding toward the back with me, the ride would have been largely silent. Another issue came at the very end of the experience. During the ride, the front wrangler offered to extend our original one-hour ride. No one in our group had asked for an extension -- it was presented to us as an option while we were already out on the trail. After we had finished the ride, gotten off our saddles, and were preparing to leave, we were then informed that the extension came with an additional $140 charge on top of the $224 we had already paid to book the ride. That cost had never been disclosed when the extension was offered. Had we known there would be an additional charge, we absolutely would have declined. Learning about it only after the ride was finished made the situation feel misleading and left us feeling taken advantage of. I don't want to disregard the beauty of the scenery or the time spent on the trail, but between the unsafe temperament of Dash, the lack of information shared during the ride, and the undisclosed charge for an extension that had been offered without mentioning the cost, it significantly impacted the experience. For those reasons, I feel a three-star review is fair. Hopefully this helps future guests make a more informed decision when booking.

This is an experience you won't soon forget, and one that anybody can do! What are you waiting for? Booking our reservations was painless. I made a phone call and spoke with Patty, who gave me a few options of times for our ride. We had a group of three-two adults and a teenager. (On the day of the ride, we we met another group of three that joined us.) She gave me instructions on where to go on the day of our ride, and sent them again via text with GPS coordinates so we could easily meet our guide. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, took some time up front to give us a quick orientation and then asked each of us about our horse riding experience so he could match us up with an appropriate horse. He was patient with us, as some of us had very little experience. The trail itself was not all the way flat, but not so challenging that a novice rider would struggle. There are a few areas where we went up hill and then a few where we went down. Mike advised us on proper posture to make it easier on the horse as we navigated some of that hilly terrain. At one point, he recognized that the teen in the group was getting a little frustrated with his horse. He gave him some instruction and then engaged him in conversation about music-something they had in common. I appreciated that Mike was able to include everyone in the group in some way. He's a good dude. After the ride, we were given some carrots to feed our horses. I loved that part! I think the horses appreciated it too. This may not be an activity that we will do every time we visit St. George, but it will definitely be on that we remember forever and bring along some friends to show them the beauty of Snow Canyon from a different perspective.

There are places on this earth that don't feel entirely claimed by man where the air sits heavier,…read morewhere silence hums just a little too loud. Havasupai Falls is one of those places. Now listen I'm gonna tell you straight. You can hike it, sure. Strap on your pack, bake in that canyon heat, follow the mules and the dust like you're reenacting some pioneer tragedy. Or... you take the helicopter. Drop in like you've got better sense than the rest of 'em. Because when you're only staying a night, you don't waste half your trip pretending you enjoy suffering. You get there quick, boots on the ground, eyes wide open. And what waits for you... ain't normal. The water this unreal shade of blue, like someone spilled paint straight outta heaven itself cuts through red rock like it's been there since before memory had a name. The canyon walls stand tall, watching. Always watching. You can feel it. Not in a poetic way... in a you're not alone kind of way. The people there, the tribe they carry a quiet presence. Like they know something they're not in a hurry to explain. Respectful, grounded... but there's history in their eyes. Old history. Night comes different down there. The fire was crackling low. Shadows stretching just a little too far, bending where they shouldn't. That's when I saw it. Across the canyon, tucked behind a tree like it didn't quite understand hiding... something big. Hairy. Not a trick of the light. Not a deer. Not a man. It stood there. Watching. Then came the sound. Tap... tap... tap. Something hitting the tent. Not hard. Just enough to say, "I'm still here." I thought maybe rocks... maybe pinecones. But there weren't any trees above us that could explain it. And whatever it was it had aim. I told the others. Nobody laughed. Nobody slept. We sat around that fire like it was the last safe place on earth, eyes fixed into the dark, waiting for something to step forward... or worse, not step forward. Because sometimes what you don't see is worse than what you do. Finally, in a moment of pure, desperate brilliance or stupidity someone grabbed a sandwich and chucked it out there into the black. We waited. Minutes stretched. The canyon held its breath. And then... nothing. Whatever it was... it was gone. No footsteps. No sound. Just silence again, like the place had swallowed it whole. Now I ain't saying I believe in Bigfoot... ...but I'm also not saying I slept worth a damn that night. And here's the part where I switch gears for ya because after all that spooky nonsense, you gotta laugh a little. Look, I'm just gonna say it .. "I paid good money to fly into a canyon, not to get mugged by a damn woodland gorilla." You got folks hiking ten miles, riding donkeys, sweating like they owe the sun money... and I'm down there getting harassed by what I can only assume is the canyon's unofficial night manager. Five stars. Would absolutely go again. ...but next time, I'm bringing two sandwiches.
