Uneven experience. Very responsive to come out and evaluate and quote. Took longer than expected to receive the quote (with some pestering on my part). Took a much longer time for work to start - which would have been ok if there had been any proactive communication from Andy's (there wasn't). When the work started, the crew seemed unsure of the work to be done. Looks like most of it was done except the part they were unclear about (sealing the front). We submitted an inquiry online where we explained we were looking for gutter repair or replacement (partial or full) due to overflow. They called us back and my husband explained that we've had an ongoing issue in one particular area and we would like to have all our gutters evaluated. We were thinking we'd either need new downspouts, new gutters on one side, or new gutters for the entire home. They let my husband know they do a gutter clean out and inspection as a first step. We didn't need a gutter cleaning since we had them cleaned 6 months ago and this is an enduring problem, but they said this is their process. We were given a window of 12-2pm. They showed up at 3:15. My husband again mentioned evaluating the areas we were having issues and generally evaluating the entire gutter system. The guys used two leaf blowers to clean out the gutters, put an invoice for $160 in the mailbox, and left. We spent 4 days calling the company to ask about the evaluation and recommendations regarding replacement or repair. After 4 days we received a call saying there were, "no notes from the inspection" and if we continued to have issues, they could send out their "special inspector." This would naturally be for an additional amount. I'm very disappointed because we made it clear we were not reaching out for gutter cleaning. We were looking for a company to do replacement or repair. They emphasized that cleaning was a necessary part of their evaluation process and their team not only showed up late but did not do any kind of evaluation. We are then told we would have to have a special inspector, should we continue to have problems. Since we've had multiple cleanings over the past 2 years and we continue to have an issue, I don't really want to wait for the next storm to prove to someone that our gutters need replacing. I wish they had been upfront that they were not able or interested in doing replacement or repair. When a customer states that they are experiencing overflow, we recommend a gutter cleaning because 90% of the time, this is the issue. The last thing we would want is a customer waiting for an estimator to come out just to tell them that the gutters need to be cleaned, when at that point we could have already cleaned and addressed the issue. IF you or your husband in fact did not think a cleaning was needed and did not AGREE to have a cleaning performed, we would never have continued down that path. It was a mutual consent. **We informed you that we had our gutters recently cleaned and we did not think it was related to this. Your salesperson insisted that we needed our gutters cleaned despite our concerns, it was in FACT stated that cleaning the gutter was the first part or your process and you would not proceed further without this** After this response: Our crew did perform an inspection and did not find any further issues or repairs needed. **Your crew did not speak to us on the day of service and it took 4 days for us to hear back from you. When you did call back, you informed us there were no notes regarding an inspection on the day of service. You then stated if we had ongoing issues, we would need additional inspection from a "special inspector." The other point here is we clearly have an issue and your company either inspected it and missed it or didn't inspect it at all** Again, that was our assessment which we communicated back to you **After 4 days and repeated calls and you stating there were "no notes" at all regarding the inspection**. Our estimates are free, and have been free for 50 years. We never said that we would charge to have an estimator come out to inspect your gutters **incorrect, we were told we would be charged for this additional visit**. We had suggested that since we cleaned the gutters, that you wait until the next rainfall and contact us if you continued to experience overflow and at that point we could further assess them. I guess on the flipside, maybe we should have scheduled an estimate and provided you with a proposal for replacement as oppose to trying to save you money by taking a more cautious approach. ** We can all appreciate a conservative approach, which we bought into, and then we waited for your evaluation, and then it was clear it never happened, and now we have to wait for another assessment** We don't take advantage of our customers, but instead try to treat each of them as we would want to be treated. ** We respect and appreciate all those we work with who are timely, honest, and transparent in communication** Fluid and constructive communication between both parties is what helps us provide top notch service which seemed to be lacking in this particular situation. They went to my house without notice. They did not go to the roof to clean. In the first place I don't have trees around the house. I was inside my house - working from home and I know who's in my backyard. My problem is every time it rains four corners of the gutters drips. I was thinking maybe there is a clogged in the downspouts? or I need to seal the four corners of the gutter? But they did not communicate to me. They key is every time you do a small job you should communicate to the owner of the house. I will NOT recommend this place to my friends at all. read more

Ken, from Andy's, came to our home to give us a quote for a larger down spout. He looked over our spout and said it was clogged. He then went to his truck, fetched a ladder, climbed to the second floor, and unplugged our spout. Rain water gushed out. We were not charged. By the way, Ken did all this in the rain. Requested photos of debris removed from site prior to the gutter cleaning job, but my request was missed. They later apologized. I have no clue how the work was done since it was done when I wasn't at home...let alone not even a clue if they even set up ladders, although I did get an undescriptive bill in my mailbox. I would think it would be common practice to show what was removed, as other companies have done. I would've like to have known what was removed to make an informed decision for future service. They did a small job for me - Fixed some Fascia that blew off. The owner stopped by to get me an estimate then emailed me some options. I opted to replace the entire fascia on the roof peak. They called me a week ahead of time to tell me when they were coming out. I was working the day they came and wasn't home but I was real happy with the quality of work and they didn't leave a mess etc. Overall very easy doing business with them, nice work, and real professional operation -which I really appreciate these days. The gutter cleaning work was fine (which is why I gave them two stars instead of one). My big problem was with a miscommunication we had while the work was being done. I had gutter screens on my gutters, some of which were damaged. The gutter cleaner told me the screens weren't helping to keep the gutters clean and suggested taking them down; I agreed to have them taken down. After they left I expected to find the gutter screens piled somewhere so that I could determine what to do with them, but they were gone. When I inquired about this, they told me I agreed to have them thrown away. When I disputed this and wanted to be compensated in some way, they blamed me for the mistake. I'm very unhappy with their customer service in this incident. I will not be hiring them again. Update: In response to the company's comment on my review, I have never had work done on my house where the service person didn't either leave leftover items that belonged to me at my house or clearly ask about or state that they were taking them away. ZERO STARS should be available. No longer owned by Andy so don't be fooled people, these owners have NOT been in business since 1974! Ken came out and misrepresented what work could and would be done. At the time of the estimate everything was no problem, he talked to myself and 2 other neighbors. This was all agreed upon when he came to give the estimate. His workers showed up on the day the work was scheduled and said it couldn't be done the way Ken and I had agreed. I have Ken on video after telling him that he told me it would be done a certain way as we agreed, he said it will. I then said that's not what your guys just told me he replied "I know" (LOVE RING VIDEO) Now his wife Andrea is trying to get not only a $250 "rescheduling" fee out of me for no work being done and Ken's misrepresentation of what they could do or to be fair his guys saying that it couldn't be done and they were the ones going to do the work which was never done. NO WORK WAS DONE. Andrea is also adding in a fee for special order downspouts - only she forgot to look at her very own contract that states the following products will be supplied by the contractor and checked off the downspouts. Nowhere is an extra fee or special order fee mentioned. Before you lie and dig yourself into a bigger hole and destroy your small business I suggest you tell the truth. Do the right thing. Question - Do you need a current, valid license to be a " general contractor" in the state of Illinois?? Also I had to give more than half the money down before they would book the job. No problem putting some down but more than half? Ridiculous. My bank and BBB will be getting highlighted copies of the "contract" As well as the videos. I had them come over to evaluate my gutters. Pointed out what I thought needed to be repaired. They did the work, but didn't notice that they were putting new gutters on old rotted/corroded and rusty gutters, so none of the work they did was effective. They didn't think through the work and attached metal with three different colors (whatever they appeared to have on their truck.) Very unimpressed and would not recommend. read more

The work hasn't been done long enough for me to be reviewing it. This review is for customer service only. After waiting WEEKS for an estimate they finally came out. The price seemed reasonable for the suggested work. It took several more weeks to get on their calendar to actually get the work done. They wouldn't give me a day. I kept calling and emailing them since we'd already sent a deposit check and signed a contract. They finally called me back (it was a Thursday or Friday) and said the work would be done the following week. They weren't sure which day, but it wouldn't be Mon or Tues. AND THEY WOULD CALL. By Thursday when they hadn't called (or done any work). I emailed and called AGAIN. They apologized (who cares?) and said weather had delayed some other jobs ahead of us in line. That would have been fine if they had actually communicated that when they said they would. Then, out of nowhere, they simply showed up today (did not call or email to let me know). Did the work without anyone there to advise them on it. And then left a bunch of garbage in our neighbor's trash. When they should have hauled away the old gutters themselves. For the record, we haven't paid them the balance on the work. And I don't intend to until I hear back from them and they pick up all the junk they left in the alley. read more

We hired them to fix a gutter issue. They came out applied the a TPE material in the rain which only made things worse. The coating ended up with spots from the rain which actually trapped more debris. Andy made sure work was done right when he was there. Too bad. read more

Company did not keep the originally scheduled date/time, rescheduled it 3 times before workers showed up. Most of the gutter debris ended up in my backyard - they did not bother to remove it. Sent them pictures and their attitude is like "who cares". On top of it, they charge fees when you pay with a credit card. My yard man usually does my gutters. So, when I had a problem with the pitch on several areas, I asked him if he could have his guys go up on the roof and flush-out my downspouts? He said yes. Then I asked him if he could recommend someone who could do the entire job of correcting the pitch in some areas and putting in new gutters - if necessary - in others. I have never written a review, but felt the need to this time. Last week there was a thaw and the ground under our downspout was frozen and I called this service, in part because their Chicago location was very close to us. The woman who answered said they'd call me to say if and when they could come out that day after the repair person got their child to school . I waited until 9:30, called again. She said she'd call them and would call me right back. NEVER got a call. I gave up, as water was continuing to pour into our house. Called another service who came out within an hour and a half and fixed the problem immediately. Andy's service tech showed up after 3 that afternoon, I told him no one ever called to say they were coming or when so I'd already taken care of it. Then yesterday I got a BILL for service in the mail. I called to complain, that there was no service done. The woman who answered the phone yelled at me, called me a LIAR, and the HUNG UP ON ME!!! So.. My experience with Andy's was not that great for a couple of reasons. First... I had them clean our gutters, what did they do.. they cleaned the gutters and dumped the debris in my yard... Just Basically scooped it out of the gutters and dropped it on the floor and left it there... WTF..... Anyway, so then they were going to install gutters on the garage of another property we own. Got an Estimate like 3 weeks later of over 3000.00 to install gutters on 3 sides of a 2 car garage. Due to sticker shock we just decided to hold of on the gutters temporarily. Then like 3 months later Andy's calls and ask's if I still want the gutters installed.. .not for 3000.00 I told them. The guy on the phone seemed a little shocked too, that the estimate was so high.... He said he'd look into it and call me back... Never heard from him again, nor have they returned any of my phone calls or Emails... That was last September. read more
