I did not expect he would able to get lenses made for Google Glass, a very proprietary frame that is the original basis for ALL smart glasses being sold today. Young has not only the PROFESSIONALISM and EXPERTISE as a doctor but the KINDNESS, GENEROSITY, and CONSIDERATION you would want in your next door neighbor or fellow community member. Pretty unhappy with their service. I am from california and I tried ordering contacts from them. They said it would take the following week to get it so I asked to rush order it. I called 3days later and they haven't gotten it. I asked if I can get a temporary pair since I have been not able to see very well for days. They said they will call me back after they talk to the doctor. I called two different days for it. Never got a call, I called back today (monday) because it has been a week. Wow. I can't believe I am paying over $70 for a rush order that was the same as asking for normal delivery. They are probably charging me extra claiming it was rush order. read more

Great doctor, explains what you need versus what you want and is really detailed when it comes to the health of your eyes. He doesn't do anything without a reason, the testing done in the office is to thoroughly check underlying upcoming possible diseases or other issues that may occur based on family history. for the most part I've had really great experiences with eye doctors... but I think that once I have the opportunity to have another eye exam later next year, I will go to another doctor. I saw the previous review about this doctor and figured it couldn't hurt to see him especially since they managed to squeeze me in. I previously used to get my exams at costco and i really loved the doctor there. PROS: really easy to get an appointment, convenient location downtown if you work in the area - Also his staff is very friendly and welcoming CONS: I'm not sure why, but for both the initial exam and the follow up appointment, the doctor really wasn't very friendly, and slightly rough in his handling. I'm sure he is very knowledgeable about optometry, but wasn't very forthcoming about answering my questions. ALSO he not very willing to give samples of contacts to try out or prescriptions for your eyes. In fact is very vocal about his disdain for giving samples even though the amount is necessary NOT excessive. ( I was actually very surprised by this especially since my prescription was adjusted since my initial exam and did not have any contacts in the new prescription). All in all, I'm sure the doctor is a perfectly fine person but maybe not the most personable doctor. I do ask a lot of questions, but, these are my eyes are we talking about. I think it is important to be informed about what is going on. I also do not like it when doctors do things and do not tell me what they are doing (i.e poking my eyes or dropping drops in my eyes). Wow.... I had a bad experience with Dr. Young today. I originally went to see him because he is located downtown on Bethel Street and is open in the early evening on Thursdays after work hrs. The first 2 visits were fine as the contacts he fitted me with were good. The only problem with both visits was that I could see far but could not read or see the computer screen. So I called for the 3rd visit and made an appointment for Thursday at 4:40 pm (time given to me by the receptionist on 12/31). The good Dr. appeared to be racing around in panic mode..... I waited from 4:40 till after 5:00 pm which was not a big deal for me as another person was also waiting. Anyway, he fitted me with another distance without the multi-focal. The strange thing was he did not let me finish my sentences as he kept cutting me off as he was rushing around. So he fitted me for distance and I was supposed to use my "computer glasses" to read and see the computer screen while at work .... I confirmed this with him as he was pushing me out the door and he said, "Well, if there are any problems, make another appointment" as he took his next patient. I get home, put my computer glasses on, and I can't see a thing, I call back on Monday after New Years to make the 4th appointment..... receptionist scheduled my appt. at 5:30 pm. I get there at 5:20 pm and he's rushing around again with one guy sitting in the waiting room. He must have been in a bad mood and stressed out as he was very rude with an attitude. I tried to explain, yet again, and got cut off in mid-sentence several times. He never admitted that he gave me the wrong information, or apologized, or smoothed it over....he was actually lecturing me why this didn't work..... He had a patronizing tone as he was telling me that my computer glasses won't work with the contacts he prescribed. Really? That's why I am there seeing him again. Where would I get the idea to use my computer glasses on top of the distance contacts? So as I pull out my computer glasses, he brushes me off with "I KNOW I KNOW"...... So he rushes outside and gets even more frustrated that I didn't want to buy a frame since I already had one to be used for the computer glasses prescription. In the meantime, he runs off the side room to work on another pair of glasses for someone else?.... this is all happening in a 10-minute time frame while I'm there..... so I tell him that maybe I should go back to my other Eye Dr. to update my computer glass prescription to work with the distance contacts that he gave to me, and he actually yells at me, "I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! as he is rushing between rooms. So now, I'm just flabbergasted and return to my seat in the examining room............ and he is still rushing around doing I don't know what. HELLO, THIS MY APPOINTMENT...... MY SCHEDULED TIME. So he scribbles out 2 prescriptions (for computer glasses) and says with exasperation, "ANY QUESTIONS?"..... the funny thing is I can not read the prescriptions because I have "his" contacts in my eyes and I can't see up close to read the prescriptions. I think he needs to retire and block off more time with each patient so he is not stressed or RUDE to his patients ...... maybe he can spend more time listening to his patients instead of being condescending. He knew from the get-go that I could not see up close from the very first visit........ that never changed. It appears that several people have experienced this side of him..... Comfortable and friendly, always feel comfortable and he makes our niece who jad her first eye exam happy. He was patient and understood her fears and was very gentle. I went to the mainland for two years and I could not fathom why I did not find an optometrist or an ophthalmologist with the skill or quality of service that he has, given his kind heart. I haven't gotten glasses since I was about 8 years old. I always knew I needed them. I just couldn't get over getting bullied in school because, kids are mean. I am now in my late 30's and I found it harder and harder to see. I discovered Dr. Young thru YELP so I only thought it fitting that I write a review for him after the experience. All I have to say is everything about this doctor is top notch! He made me feel at ease. I was super nervous, especially after not being to an eye doctor for over 25 years! The appointment went by fast and the glasses were done in less than a week! I was surprised at how fast they called me back to tell me they were ready! Now I can see! Woo hoo! Super friendly staff! Ciara, the doctors assistant / secretary was a total sweety! Great location! It was so easy to find! I get lost easily so that was a big plus!
