The eye exam I had here was good. The woman was very professional and patient. I appreciated the tests and how they gave me uv protective eye covers after. The price of the glasses are high. If price is not a consideration there are some very interesting and artsy glasses collections here. They take insurance, lovely staff and I enjoyed the eye exam. They did an exam I hadn't tried before (specific reference is missing -- best to call and ask which exams they run and compare) . To do it all in one day prepare to have your pupils dilated. Wear shades to avoid sensitivity drawbacks, have a ride or give yourself time to chill at the mall. Perk. I was delighted and surprised with the level of detail in terms of finding the right prescription for me. I had originally gone in because that they had designer frames and a lot of variety. Most especially for more petite faces like mine. I decided at the last minute to also include an eye exam. The doctor was excellent, thorough, and caught some details in my current prescriptions that were missed previously by a major healthcare/eye provider on the Island. Selection for glasses frames was very personalized and detailed. There's a nice collection of designer frames and I happily selected one that fits. I'm from California and my glasses broke literally about an hour after I got off the plane. Was staying in Kapolei, but drove into town to find a place that could fix them or I'd be screwed for the rest of my trip. Didn't want to go to the mall, but thought it was worth a try. Went to Eye Gallery, and the gentleman there fixed my glasses for me free of charge even though I did not buy my glasses from there. He saved my life for the next week! I like the selection of eye glasses they carry. Lots of luxury brands. So I decided to buy the Matsuda glasses. Spend some good money and when they arrived it didnt pass inspection so had to wait another week. When the came in again took them home and when I went to wear them I noticed both lens have scratches that you can see in the sun but hard to see with indoor lighting. So they had to order new lenses. I dont know what is with the lab that they use but really inconvenient as a customer. read more

The reply to my review did not address anything in my complaint, all it did was attempt to insult me by calling the review ridiculous. That does not change any of the facts presented in my review. The lettering in the serial number is not uniform, I did not receive a sticker with a barcode, a box or a certificate of authentication, and the glasses squeak like $5 sunglasses from the gas station. I brought the glasses back 5 business days after receiving them, and one of the employees said they called "corporate" who said I had to keep the glasses. Regardless of whether these are indeed authentic I am not satisfied with the purchase and I brought them in within the 5 days specified on the receipt, and still was not offered even an exchange. Happy Memorial Day! I visited The Eye Gallery at Ala Moana today, hoping to get my prescription glasses fixed. My playful dog had chewed on them two days ago, leaving them in pieces. I was very worried because I rely on these glasses for work, and I had to use a pair of reading glasses from Longs in the meantime. I feared I might have to spend almost a thousand dollars on a new pair since my glasses are Silhouettes, which are not cheap. When I walked into the store, I explained my situation to Damian Walker, the store manager. I felt like I needed a miracle to get my glasses fixed. I handed him the three broken pieces and hoped for the best. While he helped another customer, he asked me to look around or take a seat. To my surprise, it didn't take long before Damian came back and told me my glasses had been broken into several pieces. I felt a bit sad, but when he brought them out, they were back in one piece! He had fixed them! I was extremely happy. Damian adjusted my glasses, and they were back to normal. I could see clearly again, and all my worries disappeared. Damian Walker is a wonderful, helpful, and pleasant person. Despite the time it took to adjust my glasses, he remained kind and patient. He truly is an angel in disguise. Love this place. I practically gave up looking for frames that will fit my petite face and i just happen to see this shop in Ala Moana (kind of by Target side) They have such an amazing selection of petite frames. I couldnt find any frames i liked at len crafter, inspecs, costco, sams club. I was excited to see their selection of petite frames (they havr non petite too) and they had amazing customer service. Cory was great and helpful and took time to perfectly fit my glasses. I sometimes feel rush to get them fit at other places but not here. If I could give this place a 0 star I would. No one seems to know how to properly adjust frames. I had hope to purchase my next pair of glasses from this place. However the manager is rude, condescending and is a terrible representation of a "luxury" business. I stopped in previously and was helped by a sweet lady with blonde hair, I came back to see her and found out she left. Big mistake letting her go. I was talking to Damien the rudest person I ever met first of all his condescending attitude towards me because this is my first time buying prescriptions and I wanted to know the process, and he kept pushing me to get a frame while i was still looking for my options. He also non stops talking about his life to me which was also frustrating to hear and stand because he breath was very concerning. Which I know it is mean to say but he wouldn't keep his distance he needs to know how to mind his own space. This review covers both Dr. Wong and Eye Gallery. Scheduled an eye exam here, and was issued an appointment card for the following day. On the day of my appointment they had no record of me. I guess the sales associate forgot to put me in the system? I still decided to go through with an eye exam since I was there already. Dr. Wong's exam was standard as compared to other practices, and the only inconvenience was the incomplete trial lens set. Several pieces were missing, so Dr. Wong needed to stack them in order to test my vision, as opposed to having them ready to go. Other than that, she was professional and did not seem to rush me through my session. When going through the store to try on different frames, a sizable number of them are stored in locked cases. So you do need to have an attendant assist you, or follow you around, which can be troublesome if wanting to browse at your own pace. When making a final selection of lens extras with the sales associate, there is no printed catalog of features or prices. So asking for an itemized list of costs is only given to you verbally, and is therefore difficult to follow and opt in or out of services at your leisure. I typically get AR coating and high index lenses on every pair of glasses, but it would have been nice to see some of the other options offered and their corresponding prices to see if I wanted to try new things. There were other minor issues that I chose not to include as part of my review as it may be a detriment to business - which is not my intention. These issues were solved promptly by the manager and sales associate. Ultimately, I had a pleasant visit with Dr. Wong, but I am taking a few days to shop around due to a less than stellar experience with the appointment scheduling and frame selection process. Had there been fewer hiccups, I may have chosen to make a purchase that day. read more

I came here once searching for frames, and Kym initially seemed kind but turned discriminatory, seemingly fixated on the shape of my Asian eyes. Even suggesting that I try the narrow, cat-eye glasses saying they "look" like the shape of my eyes. Later, she laughed at my low Asian nose bridge and told me to get glasses with nose pads and to go for oversized glasses saying I have a large face, which obviously didn't make me feel great. She grew noticeably frustrated and rude when I refused to purchase frames, and I declined creating a profile of some kind under her name. Throughout our encounter, Kym talked to me as if I were a child, and I left with her glaring daggers at me. Fast forward a few weeks, I purchased frames elsewhere and was stopping by to learn about the lens options available at the store. It was Christmas Eve, and she was the only employee there. As she is an older woman, and I had observed her providing good customer service before to others, I hoped she had gotten over the fact that I had not made a purchase weeks prior if she recognized me and would not patronize me. (And perhaps she somehow didn't mean to be racist...) Thankfully, she seemed to not recognize me. She was standing beside a group of Chinese tourists who looked interested in making a frame purchase. She didn't greet me and was reluctant to speak to me. But after the tourists became preoccupied talking amongst themselves in Chinese, she came over and we spoke about lenses. She treated me like an idiot and barked at me, curled one side of her lip up with disgust, and looked down her nose at me. However, I wanted to get what I needed to do done before the holidays, so I remained polite, thinking it's her job and continued to give her a chance to redeem herself. The group was busy on the other side of the room talking in Chinese, anyway. I began taking notes on my phone, and seeing this, she began talking quickly, dumping a lot of info, most of which had little to no context. I was confused and couldn't keep up with her. So at one point, I said, "hold on, I'm taking notes and need to catch up," and she stopped talking, and after about a 3-second pause, barked at me with immense anger and hatred in her voice, "CHINESE!!" I looked up at her, and she was standing in front of me, angrily glaring at the floor beside to me. I realized she had profiled me as Chinese given my general Asian features. Whether I'm Chinese or not, it's an insult. Her intention is to discriminate. Why does it matter if I'm Chinese, and why say it in such an angry, hateful tone? Why say it at all? Would it be acceptable for her to angrily bark at me "BLACK!!" if she had profiled me as Black? Then she began talking with a lot of attitude, how she "doesn't know what my frames even look like" complete with hand gestures, and that the shape and the frame material matter when recommending lenses. I quickly brought out my brand new frames. They were made of very thin metal. She grabbed them and held each thin arm with each hand and began pulling them apart-- if she did this too far, my glasses would break or the shape would distort! I was so afraid, I quickly turned away in fear. She then said, "I'm just checking for the number." I'm not sure what she meant by that and why she was so rough with my glasses. Then she held one arm with one hand, and began hitting a lens with her other hand's pointer finger's nail quickly and very hard, repeatedly, with no care. My glasses erratically bounced back and forth as it was hit hard again and again by her nail. I was terrified that she would break or mangle my new glasses and exclaimed, "what? It's plastic!!" I was confused why she was so rough, and wondered if she would treat glasses sold at her store in the same manner. Her response? "Oh, it's plastic," with her nose up like she did nothing wrong. Not caring about my distress or what she's doing to my glasses. I purchased these frames when I returned home to Japan, and they were nearly $400. What is wrong with her?! As I was leaving, she said "sorry, I didn't recognize you immediately, but I later did. I LOVE your glasses! So cute! Round, too!" in a sarcastic tone while laughing and smiling obnoxiously. Needless to say, she hates the "Chinese," and if she thinks you're "Chinese," you better make dealing with you worth her while. Because she is working there to make money, and she's doing you a favor by "serving" you, as she hates people like you. I urge Eye Gallery to reconsider her employment, given her blatant racism and sinophobia. I hope Kym will learn that hatred is wrong, and despite her being White, she's no better than anyone of any color, race, or ethnicity. It doesn't matter what someone's eyes, nose, or skin color looks like. Everyone is equal, and no one should be discriminated against for how they are born. I will continue to get glasses here for myself and family. When you go shopping for glasses, you just assume you can get them any where...which is actually true. But the customer service...OH MY GOSH...the best I have ever experienced! The manager, Elizabeth, worked with my mom's needs to get her glasses to fit perfectly. It's crazy how they can manipulate these glasses without a scratch or indentation! She was willing to work with my mom's requests to make subtle changes here and there. With no frustration or concerning facial expressions, she willingly helped my mom to have those glasses fit perfectly! I couldn't have asked for anything more! It was eye exam time, which for me always means new glasses. Searching my insurance options I had choices for the usual, big store options, but one choice that appealed to me was The Eye Gallery. So, sight unseen (told you I need an eye exam!), I decided to book an appointment, and super glad I did! An eye exam in our Covid world was an interesting challenge, but the doctor knew all the steps to not only keep things clear and safe, but also fog free - a bigger challenge than I thought while wearing a mask and trying to decide if 1 or 2 is better. But success, got it done so I could get new glasses. The glasses options here are terrific! Great brands to choose from and prices to fit a scale of budgets from let's not be crazy to I need to wow. But, you can buy glasses anywhere, so why here? The staff here are absolutely five star! The care and advice before buying glasses, and the steps to make sure everything is just right, is fantastic. Great place. Came here to visit my eye doctor, Dr. Kaopua. When I walked in, I was greeted by the staff. Warm greeting and a great smile. This little gem has every style of frame for sunglasses or prescription glasses. Unfortunately, the frames are out of my price range. Like I mentioned above - I came to see my eye doctor who works out of this location two days a week. The variety of styles and luxury brands is remarkable. The staff are friendly and assist when needed. If you're looking to come in and browse, go for it. Ask a sales associate when you're ready to ask questions. They don't overcrowd for the sale. I am critical of the continuing lack of good customer service nowadays, but Cory has allowed me to regain faith, even for a short time, in professionalism and customer service that The Eye Gallery provides. The Eye Gallery not only has a great selection of eye frames, but their staff (shout-out to Dai!) and Dr. Wong are all very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I was referred to them by my co worker and I couldn't be more pleased. My visits have been nothing but pleasant. Upon two of my visits, the first one was a regular eye exam (as well as for prescription for my lens) and the next would be the dilation of my eyes. Though they did not have the machine capable to examine my eyes further (Dr. Wong noticed a tear on my right retina) she referred me to a specialist who would later commend Dr. Wong for noticing the tear because it prevented me from developing a retina detachment. *whew* dodged a bullet on that one. As far as frame selection is concerned, I have to say I was a tad disappointed they don't carry the Kate Spade brand but they do carry high end brand names for frames ranging from Prada, Gucci, and Michael Kors to name a few. Prices are reasonable. For my first frames, I purchased a Michael Kors and with the basic lens I got came out to be $145 but of course price is dependent upon insurance too so please do not hesitate to ask the staff for a quote. When I purchased my frames, they also give you a lens cleaner and I was recently told that you can just come back to get a refill. And speaking of refills, their staff was so nice to even offer refill my hydro flask with water as I was waiting for my new lenses! Nothing but great service. read more

I went in to see which styles I liked and was going to see if I could have them shipped home- because I wasn't visiting from out of state. This place is awesome. I purchased my glasses from another store and it needed adjustment. Went to this store and they were so nice and accommodating. They adjusted my glasses and now they fit perfectly and they did charge me for the adjustment. They are amazing. I've gone to multiple eye glass places in island and most are either expensive, take three weeks to make or both. This place is the best one yet. Reasonable price and done in two- three days if they don't have the lenses in the store. If that's the case it only takes 30 minutes.
