I have thinning, wavy/curly hair with a very soft texture, so I go for short cuts and texture for volume. Both times Sam has knocked it out of the park! I came into the salon as a walk-in, showed another stylist my hair, and was referred to Julie for a color correction. I explained that I wanted to re-lighten some underdeveloped highlights, and Julie seemed to understand. She started re-lightening but didn't pull the bleach all the way to the top of the highlights, opting instead to do a root smudge to cover the roots. Unfortunately, that has since faded, leaving me with very orange roots. She also didn't have time to address all the highlights, so she suggested I book a follow-up in four weeks to give my hair time to recover. When I reached out to confirm the appointment, Julie told me I didn't have one on record. I knew I had booked, so I found my email confirmation and sent it to her. Communication was a struggle; she often took days to respond, and I had to push for updates. Eventually, she said that the two-hour appointment I had wasn't long enough for what I needed, though this was never clarified when I initially booked. She said I should cancel it and couldn't get me in for another month! Had she communicated and been responsive I could have booked properly way sooner. To add to it, Julie's attitude came across as quite rude, which made the experience even more frustrating. Although she seemed knowledgeable, the communication, scheduling issues, and lack of attention to detail left me disappointed with the outcome. read more

As others have noted, finding someone who threads brows in Boise is a bit challenging. There are not many. However, I found Jenna at Euphoria, and I am very happy with the results. I'm mostly writing this review because my experience with Jenna was so different from those who said she wasn't very communicative or "warm and fuzzy." I found her to be, first and most important, excellent at brow threading. That's what I came and paid for. But, I also found her to be a good conversationalist, and we didn't have to work hard at finding a few things in common. Since our age gap is noticeable, that is probably saying something positive right there. Book a 15 minute appointment for brows with Jenna if you want a job thoughtfully and well done. I have been getting my haircut from Taylor Lyons for about 4 years now. I love how she washes, cuts, and does my hair. She knows how to style your hair based on your style, complexion, etc. She is also very pleasant to talk and laugh with. I've also have had my nails done by Sole. She is very pleasant and sweet. I had a groupon to this salon that I got for my birthday and I was excited to use it because this seemed like a more upscale place. My appt was 15 min past the time scheduled which was frustrating because it was my day off and I felt like that time had been wasted. My manicure was very basic which wasn't a big deal because I work with money all day and my nails will get messed up quickly. Me pedicure wasn't anything special for a deluxe spa pedicure and within 4 hours my nail polish had chipped in 2 spots. It also wasn't shiny like it expected. It was flat and blah. I had an apt with Euphoria for today and since I had to book two weeks out I had forgotten the time. (They were that booked)They never called or emailed to confirm, but I should have written the apt time down. No harm I thought so I called them after they opened and no one answered. I called back a half hr after that, left a message with my name and phone #. Asked them to call me back so I didn't miss my apt. They NEVER called me back. I really was looking forward to having my nails done so I called spa Urbana. They were way more friendly over the phone and seemed better organized. Had a great mani pedi. I won't be able to compare the services since euphoria didn't even call me back. I shouldn't have to call 5 times with no answer. This was my first haircut experience in Boise (and likely to be my only experience, since I'm moving out of town soon), and I have to say I was so impressed. Angi did my haircut and she was basically everything that I could want in a hairstylist--super easy to talk to, receptive to what I wanted my hair to look like and how I usually style my hair, and affordable. It really doesn't get better than that. I have to say that I am pretty sad that I am moving out of town and won't get to come back, because it was such a fun experience and I think my hair looks great! I went in for an appointment with Andrea for a hair cut and a pretty standard blonde highlight. When I showed her the picture of what I hoped I would achieve, she kept telling me the color would wash me out and she'd rather go more conservative and for a 'Jennifer Aniston sun-kissed look'. When I mentioned again what I wanted and showed her the picture she told me not to worry, that she knew what to do and she'd make me look fabulous. That all sounds great and everything except...instead of blonde highlights, I ended up with weirdly placed balyage in a reddish color. After I left I was really unhappy with my hair, so called her and scheduled another appointment for her to fix it. Before I hung up with her after making my appointment, she told me that the color she gave me really did look flattering on me, but if I wanted her to fix it she would. These types of comments continued from the moment I set foot in the salon. She said things like, 'it is most definitely going to wash you out, but I'll just shut up. I'll get it done. It's going to look great', that it was going to damage my hair, and she even asked me if I had come in for a redo because my husband or boyfriend had told me it looked bad. The answer was no - I know that it looked bad and I came back for me. I even had to push and show the photo repeatedly during my redo service in order to get highlights rather than the balyage that she was seemingly stuck on giving me. Finally, she reluctantly added some color up at my roots. To add insult to injury during my service, she talked about how she is an artist and even went so far to praise herself for her integrity, because she was fixing my hair at no cost. Are you kidding me? The second go-round ended just like the first - except now I had more highlights that went higher up but they were still an odd color - this time really yellowy. When I left, she told another stylist that my hair was 'resistant' to the bleach (which I've been told isn't possible at the volume she said she used), and that she thought more blonde would wash me out anyway. Super frustrating. Still not happy, I called and texted her again to ask for a redo or for my money back and she never responded. So now I'm out $100 for my Euphoria service, have weird-colored highlights with odd placement, and I had to go to another salon in town for color correction. While she is nice and good with haircuts, I unfortunately don't recommend going to Andrea for color. It was an incredibly frustrating experience, I don't feel like I was heard, and not only did I not get the color and style I asked specifically asked for, I got a color and style that didn't look good and needs to be redone. I really liked this place initially, it's in a beautiful neighborhood and the salon itself is adorable and welcoming. But my actual cut and color were a nightmare. I asked for a balayage, and what I ended up with was at least 2 shades darker than I had wanted as well as big blotches that were a completely different color than the surrounding hair... looks like leopard spots. I know it's going to vary between stylists, but I'm sure she saw it (unfortunately I didn't see it on the back of my head until the next morning) and I'm just upset that she didn't say anything before I left. Figured there would be a company policy about making sure a client sees the back of their head, and if something is that obviously wrong you are upfront about it. read more

I purchased a Living Social coupon for a manicure with Robin. I tried to book more than a month before the expiration date of the coupon expired. She was already booked beyond the date of expiration and refused to honor the promotional value of the coupon. She would only apply the actual amount I paid for her services. There was no attempt on her end to resolve the issue. Even if I would have been offered a smaller discount it would have made me feel better. Instead I was left feeling like she didn't really care if she got my business. There wasn't even an attempt to schedule an appointment! I won't even try to return to this salon. Katelyn Stogdill ruined my hair on my LAST trip to this salon. I have to have my hair corrected by another stylist. I paid for blonde highlights, however my hair is 3 different shades, dark roots in the back not even touched, weird gray/blonde on the top and brassy blonde everywhere else. I sent pictures to Katelyn who could not understand my issue (scary really) and was very defensive. Katelyn claimed she was sick and would be happy to apply a toner. I had a terrible experience at this salon. I was very much looking forward to a manicure from this salon, which I had just purchased from Groupon. I have a 5 month baby girl, so getting out of the house alone is quite the treat in itself. However, the woman doing my nails didn't listen to what I wanted and told ME how I should like the color. I asked her to re-do or just take off the color and she told me she didn't have enough time and that I could paint over the color if I was unhappy. Why would I pay to have my nails done (and extra for Shellac) and then re-paint on my own time (which I don't have with a baby!) because she wouldn't take the time to make her customer happy. I left this salon feeing extremely disappointed in the service and end product. I have never in my life been to a salon where the stylist tells me what I should want and like. read more
