Two weeks ago I had a new stereo deck installed in my vehicle from another local car stereo company. The stereo was installed crooked and there were a few other issues- those were resolved. Prices are very inflated. The labor is double that. They have some good deals occasionally but still pretty spendy. I'm ok with paying for the equipment, but being an ASE Certified tech as well as an auto electrical expert, paying their labor prices is insane. I ordered my new head unit from Crutchfield and came with all the install equipment. I'll save myself several hundred dollars and do the 15 min install myself. Really upset that I got ripped off in SoCal with a new stereo - the whole thing was a mess. Eureka Car Stereo to the rescue! I had several options, and when I came in for my install, the owner (Neil?) mentioned a less expensive Alpine than the Sony I bought earlier. That's honesty and good customer service. The guys who installed it are pros. They had to order a new dash bezel for the double din stereo to fit, and it looks and sounds great. I asked about adding a second subwoofer, and the installer just noticed the power was on low on the amplifier. So I didn't need a new subwoofer. I had no idea, so thanks for that as well guys! The blonde guy with the large gut works there is always so grumpy with a touch of arrogance. Guy cracked the plastic on my new truck in the past and said it was like that before, it wasn't. Incredible service! I came in to have my stereo fixed as the display was malfunctioning. I was expecting it to run $100-$150. After working on it for 10 mins they had it back and operational. I know it was an easy fix but when they told me there was no charge I was absolutely floored! I've was trying to get my car stereo looked at for a while, but as it the Christmas season they've been pretty busy. When I went in the first day, though they weren't able to see me they lent me a tool to try and get the job done myself. After unsuccessfully attempting to remove my stereo I went back to return the tool and they'd finished their cars early and were able to slide me in. They quoted their rates and a timeline that seemed pretty good so off we went. They ended up fully addressing ALL of my audio issues, including issues I had just given up on. On top of that they did it at an incredible price and with great costumer service. I would 100% recommend them if you have any car audio needs. read more

I had a great experience with these guys. I've been itching to upgrade my crappy stock system in my car for awhile, and Steve helped me pick out a decent Alpine deck, 2 mid-level speakers and a solid amplifier to give me some headroom. I'm a drummer so I like it loud - and now I have crystal clear audio with solid bass and tons of headroom in my car, with minimum hassle. Frankly, it was more than I would have paid if I had ordered everything online and/or installed it myself, but I really believe in supporting local businesses and keeping our dollars here in Humboldt County, and I appreciated having the pros at ECS install everything for me. Their installation was quick, clean and efficient, and there was clear communication throughout the process, about everything from the optional steering wheel volume control (opted out to save $$), to my choice of amplifier and speakers. There was no up-selling, and I really felt like Steve had my best interests in mind when discussing options. Can't recommend this place more. read more

These guys are a rip off. I took my car in because I figured the fuse was blown in my system (which has happened in the past) and they told me I needed a new amplifier and power cord. They charged me $30 to tell me this and didn't even look under the hood to check the fuse or anything. I went to O'Reillys and bought a new $4 fuse just to make sure that what they were telling me was valid but voila, my system started working again. They tried to rip me off but thankfully I knew a little bit about car systems. Do not go to them!!! read more

Initially, my first impression with this business was positive. Their customer service is nothing special but they provided me with just enough information to select a subwoofer for my car. The installation itself was clean, meaning that they made an effort not to tear up my interior during the process. Here is where all of the praise ends. After picking up my newly upgraded truck, I immediately tested out the my entire sound system. I performed a high to low frequency sweep test to ensure that they did a basic tune up before returning the vehicle. To my surprise, the system sounded like it was not tuned at all. The subwoofer was being sent frequencies way above what it was intended for. Because I had to go on a trip, I did not have time to return the vehicle to solve the problem right away. Instead, I continued to break in the subwoofer according to manufacturer's instructions until the subwoofer blew out entirely. Bottom line is that this kind of service is unacceptable from a car audio shop. I will be replacing the subwoofer directly thru the manufacturer rather than dealing with these guys again. Worst birthday present ever. I got what I thought was a good stereo and installed properly- albeit a few scratches. Found out the glove box was broke, then learned it wouldn't start most of the time. After asking them to figure out why my car no longer shut itself down and drains the battery they insisted it was not their stereo install. Went to the VW dealership and paid for a diagnosis that said yes it was the stereo took it back they took it to Dan's Auto Electric which sided with E.C.S and charged me to replace my batter although it was under warranty. I took it to German Motors who insisted it was the stereo and explained how they could fix both to me and to them on the phone. ECS still insists its not them. Finally a year later the stereo has been removed and returned- but they didn't put the original back in just refunded me. I have a gaping hole and have to replace the broken glove box but at least I don't have to jump my car every morning. it was an amateur install at best with all the bare wires, scratches on my dash and breaking my glove box. I highly recommend AVOIDING this place read more

So I went back and asked for my cables that were missing from my box that i brought in and they were able to return my ipod cable but werent' able to find my sirius antenna so they just replaced it with something similar no problems and finally got the stereo installed correctly running after 3 times of going in to get it done and then a 4th time to get the dash trim replaced that they scratched up so although i wasn't happy at first they pulled thru and fixed anything that they messed up and the install now looks good i was just a little upset due to all the time that i had to waste in order to get it done correctly. Will i go back for another install more than likely not i will go out of town where they see more cars on a regular basis. So end all result is they resolved any problems i had however not in a real timely manner but it was done none the less read more

I'm very particular about any project I do. I'm also very leary of leaving my vehicle in the hands of a dealer or shop. That being said the guy's at Eureka Car Stereo did an amazing job installing my complete stereo system. You can TRUST these guy's with your vehicle. I'll admit I have a bit of OCD when doing a project. Wires and routing must be perfect! Well I am here to say these guy's exceeded all my expectations. The wiring was laid out BETTER then some of the wiring I've seen in aircraft. Perfectly routed, tied and secured. Better then I would have done taking two weeks to do. They never once tried to up sell any product but gave excellent advice on what I wanted to accomplish. I am exceptionally happy with their work and the people I have met. I am so thankful for Eureka Car Stereo!! I went in with a broken aux cord port & asked them for help fixing it. Unfortunately it couldn't be fixed without the stereo being replaced entirely. They recommended a few different stereos & let me think on it. Because I wasn't ready to commit to anything that day, they said if I came back within the next few weeks they would use what I had already paid towards the cost of labor & install when I decided what I wanted to do. I made an appointment & went back a few days later. The team was all so nice & the guy who helped me was exceptionally dope! They finished install in a timely manner & the guy even took the time to show me all of the cool features of my new stereo. Now every time I'm bumping my tunes, I think of Eureka Car Stereo & am so thankful :') I will definitely be back when I'm ready to replace my speaker system. 10/10 recommend for your stereo needs! read more

The older, negative reviews made me wary... so I asked several friends who they'd recommend for installing a new car stereo. Five or six absolutely raved about Eureka Car Stereo, told me service would be fast, thorough and affordable. And they were right! I went in today to ask about having a cd/bluetooth/ipod stereo replace the antiquated cassette player in my 1995 Nissan pickup. These guys were courteous, confident - do NOT try to upsell me! They estimated it would take an hour and a half's labor to switch out the factory install model, pop in the new one. But it only took 45 minutes, so the labor charge was discounted. $245 total for parts, labor and a 3-year warranty. I'm good to go! read more
