They have Balkan hot food on sale and the amount of choices from soups to salads and everything in between is overwhelming. My favorite today was the stuffed cabbage and the beef stroganoff. Very concerning experience. My child slipped and fell in this store because the floor had just been mopped, yet there was no wet floor warning sign anywhere. This is a basic safety requirement in any public place. We immediately called the manager, whose name is Slava, expecting at least some concern. Unfortunately, his response was extremely disappointing. He did not check if my child was okay, did not apologize, and simply walked away with an employee as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, my child was crying in the middle of the store after falling on a wet floor that customers were not warned about. This kind of negligence and lack of care for customer safety -- especially when a child is involved -- is very concerning. I hope management reviews this situation and ensures that proper safety procedures are followed and staff respond appropriately when incidents like this happen. read more

Beautifully stocked, organized, and maintained market with an incredible variety! While we were looking at the produce and refrigerated sections my wife said "this is like a museum... so organized" ... that's true! We found some wonderful Northern European confections for Christmas stockings, and I got some tea from their impressive European and British selection. We also picked up some molasses bread from their impressive bakery, a selection of items from the buffet, and some Ukraine style kefir and French cheese. This is a wonderland for European grocery finds. So, why the low score? As others have said. Rudeness to the max. If you don't speak the language, why bother? I was run over twice by two different workers. One had a push cart of food and the other had a pushcart of meat. Both said, "Excuse me." AFTER they about ran me over. There are multiple cash out stations, but they are in different locations and when the girl motions you to go somewhere else, you can't tell her that that cashier motioned me here because why? We don't speak the same language. There is odd side parking out front and for you first timers like me. I used the grocery store lot that is one street over. Great store that has been expanded for more shopping pleasure. At this store, you will find European and Russian products. One can also have a coffee, lunch, or dessert. They even have a personal shopper should you need one. I came in to buy some veggies and notice that the cucumbers were the Russian type can't wait to juice all my produce, bought at this store. I also like all the different types of jam and candy. I came home with some really dark chocolate bars looking forward to having a piece. Finally found what I was looking for; tinned cod liver & sardines. Didn't see any tinned mackerel. Upon closer examination, I realized the prices were EXORBITANT! $2-4 more than the store on the other corner, to the north. Not sure why.... Higher rent? They really should be more competitive, after all, the store is beautifully laid out. Absolutely loved the variety of dried/cured sausages. Given how often I go exploring, it's probably surprising to you, dear reader, that I only went to Europa Gourmet sometime last week. I mean, at this point I've gone to various Eastern European markets, and well, I must confess that after visiting, I do believe I've found my favorite one. Why do I say this? Well, there's plenty of variety. Apparently they expanded recently and it shows. It really does. You find products from everywhere in Europe, including from Western Europe. Specifically referring to these French cookies I haven't been able to locate in years! Moreover, if you don't speak the most common language found in the area (referring to Russian), you get greeted in English without an attitude. This is major for me as I had an experience at another ethnic market where I felt disliked because I didn't speak their language. Not an issue at Europa Gourmet. They want to help you find something you like. The girl at the bakery nearly got me to buy a bunch of cakes and I only stopped myself because I didn't want to overload on sweets. I mean, I went there and bought gingerbread cookies stuffed with strawberry filling for heavens' sake. If you've ever had those, you know they're sinfully good and provoking gluttony. Ahem. Anyway. They have a lot of unexpected things like squid-ink pasta at decent prices, as well as a hot food bar, the aforementioned bakery, and oh so much more. Great European Market. I really enjoy visiting it and trying new things every time I come. The market has a big variety of wines. The also have fresh produce and a big selections of Russian dumplings. So many to choose from from pork, to veal, to meat. They are great. If you have never tried them. You should try. They have a big candy section. Every time I come. I get tempted to buy one of each. It's one of those per pound type of sales. My favorite thing here is the dark fresh bread. It is out of this world. Bored on a Sunday afternoon and decided to check out this European market in Hollywood! Really glad we did. A huge selection inside of Ukrainian, Russian and even English beers and snacks. There's an expansive fruit and vegetable section in the back and there's a hot food section in the front towards the registers. Ended up buying a mango lassi drink and some awesome Ukrainian bread snacks. Do not drive past this place if you like exploring fun new ethnic markets. Good amount of parking for Sunday afternoon. One of the few things I love about living in certain parts of America is I can travel the world without getting on a plane. Here in South Broward I just have to get in my car and head to the Hallandale Beach area and I'm in Eastern Europe. Well, there is a large socialist Quebecois population out here too, but the majority of people are Eastern Europeans, especially in Sunny Isles. Europa Gourmet is in Hallandale and to me, it's a short trip to Europe. For those who don't know, Europa Gourmet and Matryoshka in Sunny Isles have the same owner, but the items in Europa are at least 20% cheaper. The main reason why I'm writing this update is Europe Gourmet has expanded, and I mean expanded big. I walked in last week after I hadn't been in a long time and the place was about 4 times the size as it was before. They still haven't finished hooking up all of the lined refrigerators and freezers, nor fully stocked their bakery as of yet, but from what I can see this place is going to be an incredible shopping experience when it's done. As I stated in my previous review, well over 90% of what is procured is imported from Eastern Europe. What I really love is how they have little flags showing the country of origin for each product on the price tag. They do import some rare hard-to-findone items too, for instance, I actually bought beer imported from Ethiopia once. I bought few bottles and gave one to a Rastafarian friend of mine. I bought two bottles for myself and they're still sitting on top of my fridge, keep in mind I bought them about 5 years ago lol. I don't want to drink them as they make me feel connected to Ethiopia, to me Ethiopia is the Holy Land, the land of Amen, the holy land of Punt. I do the same thing with my Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee that I bought in Jamaica, I don't even drink coffee, but it keeps me connected & grounded to the land in Jamaica. Last but not least, if you're tired of the women of the "Brave & the Free", you can definitely find a Euro babe in this place. read more

I've been coming to this store since they first opened and they r continuously getting worse. They've expanded the store but quality of food and services went down even more. Bakery department is basically worthless, they used to have a decent selection of pastries and cakes and on my last visit they had about 6 cakes to choose from, all of which were not any traditional Russian cakes and looked gross. Dairy section always looks disgusting, every single product in the fridge is always wet, like there's a giant puddle of some unknown liquid on the bottom of every shelf. At the end of the day it's a big store filled with big selection of crap. Staff is rude and talk to u as if they r doing u a big favor. I used to go to this place because it's a closer drive from Ft Lauderdale but from now on I'll just bite the bullet and drive to Sunny Isles to European delights. read more

My hubby being Russian introduced me to this establishment pre renovation , back then it was a small uncut gem; now spacious and plush with exotic flavors. Manly Eastern European produce but plenty of known cheeses and sausages etc. Caviar and many European licor brands. I personally visit for the "candy" which are manly chocolate bonbons wrapped in exquisite little wrappers with printed art works ;that I carry in my hair studio for my clients. I was visiting parents who live in S Florida. We felt nostalgic for Russian food, so they took me to Europa Gourmet, saying that it's the most authentic Russian store in the area. And, authentic it is - both in food and an attitude. The store is well stocked and a variety of products is good. We finished our shopping and headed to the car. When we were loading our bags into the car, another shopper approached us and said that an old woman forgot her bag at the cashier. I thought nothing of it since I had 3 bags that the cashier clerk Eric handed to me, so we left. When we got home and started unloading, we realized that one bag was missing. It happened to me a few times before - I absent-mindedly came out of the store leaving bags, products or even a wallet on the counter. Every time a store clerk would come running after me calling that I forgot something. Not this time. Not only Eric did not bother, but when we called the store they said: "it's not their policy to remind customers". Really? In the USSR, from which we emigrated, it was quite normal to rip off customer as store clerks were trying to make a living on a meager salary. But in America, customer service is what drives business. This store definitely kept its roots and attitude. I'll let you judge if this is important to you, but we no longer be sponsoring this store, as well as tell all our friends how the store decided to make ~$20 on our mindlessness. read more

Came in to purchase a gift box of Chocolates to accompany a birthday gift and saw the crowd. Soon realized I came on the evening of the Grand Opening. Talk about major craziness. Mickey and Minnie Mouse in full size costumes, a violinist, children dance performers, free samples, long stem roses for the ladies, TONS of people everywhere. Got through the registers surprisingly quickly. The entire staff was working and my cashier was very pleasant. However, the guy in charge of pouring refreshments at the Champagne table outside had no Customer Service Skills WHATSOEVER! I walked up to the table just as he was pouring out the last bit of champagne from a bottle for a person standing in front of me. I was the only other person at the table as he was unwrapping/uncorking a new bottle to pour me a glass. A preteen girl in a dancer costume walks up and says "Water" in Russian...no "Please" or "May I" so he tells her to help herself in Russian. At which point I explain to her, to Please allow him to finish with me since I was waiting at the table before she even walked up. She says "Oh" not "Sorry"or"Excuse Me" and then glares at him and instead of him explaining to her to wait a moment while he finishes with me, without a word, he places the champagne bottle down and attempts to help her. At which point I was completely surprised that he would even enable the child's rude behavior. Let alone ignore a paying customer. As she got her cup of water. The girl whispered something to her friend, gave me a smug smile and walked away. Not once did the man apologize for ignoring me or serving the girl when she had walked up after me. Without a word or eye contact, he finished uncorking the bottle and poured me a glass. I Thanked him and he acted as if I had said nothing. I walked away shaking my head in disbelief. I was so surprised to have just experienced this, especially when the rest of the staff are hospitable. A Word of Advice Europa Gourmet: Should you require volunteers for any future events, DO NOT hire this man, he will only hurt your business with his lack of ANY customer service. HORRIBLE!!! read more
