He was kind enough to meet our crazy timeline and did an amazing job! Thank you so much for fitting us in!

Arm creases, shoulder divot, front of suit jutting off the front. Note crease around the arm even in front of jacket

I honestly debated a long time on whether I would write this vs ask for a credit on my order but I decided if I could save someone else from spending the money on ordering a made to measure (MTM) suit through European Master Tailor, it would be a public service. I'll start by saying that Mr. Nita was generally a pleasant person to deal with. However I was incredibly disappointed by my experience with ordering a made to measure tuxedo from EMT. To be honest, it really calls into question some of these other reviews and the veracity of them. I now realize the only other negative review mirrors my own experience in terms of calling into question skill with tailoring. Also, I now notice there are no customer photos. Dubious for a tailoring shop. A lot of the review focus on alterations which is different than having a made to measure suit. It seems simple alterations are within the capability of this shop. However if you have a discerning eye for detail and are looking for a MTM suit, I strongly suggest exploring other options. My experience: Going through selecting fabrics and getting measured was straightforward enough. No issues there. Seem to be quality fabrics. We picked out styles and that was that. About 7 weeks later I was notified that my tuxedo was ready (I'll note that I had to email 2x to get a response.) Putting the tuxedo on for the first time was unfortunately extremely disappointing. Rather than talk through the issues I will list them and show pictures Tuxedo Jacket Shoulder pads with significant gap (see shoulder pad and actual top of shoulder) Arm creases Back creases Shoulder creases Wrong length Cuffs that are not straight (note curces) Poor lining/construction of jacket that shows through fabrics (granted this may have been my fabric selection but I would imagine a tailor should have warned me or help guide me towards better fabric) Pants Wrong length Too wide in lower leg Crotch which is shaped such that it sticks out from the pant awkwardly (difficult to appreciate in photo but very awkward) Tuxedo shirt Far to big in arms leading to creases in jacket arm Too wide in chest Collar that is too big Poor construction with loose threads In reviewing the suit, I was upset. I have an athletic body type and knew off the rack would not work for me. Silvian's response to my critiques of the jacket was that "the suit is constructed well, look how it hangs. The problem is your shoulder shape." I was incensed. Why TF am I paying this much money for a tailor to tell me that my body type is incorrect? Isn't that the point of a MTM suit. I took some pictures (attached to this review) and went home to think. I emailed Mr. Nita to review my problems with the jacket and tuxedo. To his credit, his response was quick and said he would try to address the issues. Naturally, I asked when I should come in to do alterations. His response? "It's up to you, if you want me to work on I don't need you to come and try on." ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! I lost it at this point. How could you alter a garment without having the client wear it to see how it NEEDS to be altered. I ended up decided that it was clear Mr. Nita did not have an understanding of what it would take or how to fix this tuxedo. I ended up going to another tailor in NE Portland (who asked I not publish his name) but on analysis of my garment agreed that it was poorly constructed and that it was likely Mr. Nita was sending out the fabrics and measurements for someone else to construct. My moral of the story if you are looking for MTM, don't go here. Either go to Indochino to get something cheaper that is closer to being appropriate or spend the extra money to go to one of the established bespoke suit houses in Portland. I'm eating about $600 in alterations on a $1700 tuxedo (that essentially reconstructed by an outside tailor) to tell you this rather than ask for that amount to be credited on my tux.

Silvian has done great work on number of pants I've brought through over the past year or two. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

Upon walking into the store, the staff is incredibly friendly. The only thing a bit odd is that it smells like cigarette smoke throughout the store. I believe that is their signature incense but the first couple of times I visited, I assumed that there were people in the back room smoking. The layout of the store is easy to navigate and the minimalistic approach to their displays is a welcome change from your typical overwhelming shopping experience. Rather than display every size they have in every style they offer, they only display one size of each style. I appreciated that because it made for a much simpler shopping experience. Additionally, their sneaker selection is amazing. Every time I go in, there are a few new styles to look at. This is probably my favorite spot for finding some cool sneakers. We will continue to go back to the store for their unique styles, incredibly helpful staff, and amazing selection of footwear.

I think they should carry more brands (pleasures, Supreme, Bape, Gallery dept, Rick, and do some cool in-house prints on high quality hoodies and jeans) and pay for IG promotion so more people can find out about them!

What is important in Portland is that Mr. Bruce, I mean Brent Collier has made a career of going to Italy and buying clothing direct, and the same with the NYLA garment districts. He brings it back to little, but creative Portland. Who else does that here? No one. And Collier has an excellent eye. He buys shirts, suits, jackets, sweaters, ties, belts scarves, and more, in small quantities. The quality is stellar, and the price earthbound. I found a great lightweight wool Italian suit at Collier with extra pants at a very, very reasonable price. Let's just say 1/4 to 1/3 the price of any place in the area. Same for some dress shirts which continue to draw compliments. Collier has a wider range of color than some of our stylish male clothing purveyors who hew to black, brown, gray and white. If you want unique suit fabrics at a reasonable price that would qualify you to be in The Sartorialist http://www.thesartorialist.com/, this is the only place in Portland. His former store was the Stockroom, and all the cool kids in town, now grownups, have been patrons for a while. If you need fashion advice or suggestions shopping, Collier can provide that too. Shopping for yourself, or anyone with a fashion sense, shopping for their boy, will be able to communicate their concept to Collier. And with the Wildfang phenomena, girls looking for the next level of boyfriend shirt look might look here. So anyone shopping for anyone looking for style, quality and unique is totally welcome. There might be spots like this in LA, SF or NY, but visitors to Portland shopping have the advantage of no sales tax. He changes the store up regularly, so it's worth checking in periodically. There is also a tailor right there for alterations. If you want style, quality, uniqueness and price in men's clothing; collar shirt, tie, jacket style, and even some sportswear, Collier is the best and most unique place in Portland.
