I've been coming to EWC for over a year, and more than half my appointments with Sesha have started late--sometimes by 5 mins, sometimes by 30. This isn't about her; it's about a broken scheduling system. I've suggested redefining new customer to include anyone not seen in 3+ months (since 6 weeks is a full hair growth cycle), but nothing has changed. In the past, the rushed time even left me with residual wax, but I didn't complain. They also raised the price recently and it's now $61 excluding tip. Meanwhile, a competitor I've tried has been on time 100% of the time, so it's clearly possible. The delays here cost me extra parking fees, push back other commitments, and cause anxiety when I can't make work meetings. With no Wi-Fi and terrible reception, I can't even do anything productive while waiting. Time is money. During my last visit on 8/8, I was told Sesha would be 5 minutes late... then 10... then maybe another 5, before being told I should consider another specialist or reschedule. REALLY? EWC cancels my appointment if I'm 5 minutes late, yet doesn't hold itself accountable for being on time. How is that customer-centric? read more

I've been serviced at this European Wax Center more than five times, having purchased a wax pass bundle, and overall I've been pretty pleased with the results and timing of my sessions. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was not as good. All appointments are booked in 15 minute increments regardless of the service. My appointment began about 10 minutes late, and lasted 25 minutes. My partner had the same specialist immediately after me, so her session began more than 20 minutes late. 15 minutes per session isn't realistic as some services (like a full Brazilian or full legs) take longer. The issue is when one appointment starts late or runs over, it creates a domino effect for everyone after. In the past, I've had great experiences with Sesha--she's one of the best there, and she's always made me feel comfortable. But when I got home after this visit, I noticed patches of hair left behind and bits of wax still on my skin. Some even stuck to my clothes, which was difficult to remove. I suspect the rush to catch up on the schedule affected the quality this time. At checkout, I planned to use my gift card of $67 to cover my wax, but was told it's now $80. When I questioned this, they said their prices went up in April. I felt a 20% increase was a bit steep! While I've had good results in the past, this last experience left me less satisfied, and I hope management works on improving appointment timings so the quality isn't compromised. read more

I showed up for a scheduled appointment for multiple treatments to be told I was not able to be seen. I was 4 minutes late but had called 10 minutes prior to my appointment to notify them of my delay due to graduation traffic downtown. The receptionists treated me terribly and I am left with the belief that they bumped my services because I had prepaid and purchased a pass in advance. The business made it clear that they were able to get positive cashflow from new customers. As a working mother on Mothers day weekend and her Birthday weekend, the slight moment of self-care and pampering turned into a nightmare. Me and my friend went here! I didn't catch the girls name who did mine but she was AMAZING. I had been going to my nail salon...don't risk it ladies. Anyway, this was such a enjoyable experience for both of us!! The girls are so kind and personable and make you feel really comfortable. Dreadful customer service policy. Literally Jogged to the store to ensure I made before the 5 min late policy. Made it! Was checked in and was finishing the paperwork AT THE 5 MINUTE MARK. Phone was out and I double checked the time. THEN the technician came out and decided that no it was too late. This is now at just 6 min past. I thought she was joking but no. The poor front girl at the desk obviously was just trying to do her job, so I didn't push too too much. I don't know who runs this policy, but it's absolutely ridiculous. Drove a half hour for this. I've been in customer service for 12 years and yeah it's frustrating when life happens and folks run a little late but that is part of the business. This is a joke. I usually visit eyebrow threaders because that is what I have the most previous experience with, but I will never be returning to those practices after the fabulous service Katie gave me. She made me feel so comfortable in the room and was very diligent in making sure that she understood what I wanted (ie. eyebrows shaped, narrowed, cleaned up, etc.) I asked her to work her magic and give me as much help as she could, and I could not have been happier. Katie, in my opinion, went above and beyond in her gentleness (ripping hair out by the root isn't exactly a gentle profession) while still working quickly, even making multiple passes at "baby hairs" that I know others may have just overlooked. At the end of my session, Katie continued to surpass my expectations in offering me products that tailor-fit my skin needs. I know some professionals treat customers one and the same, but Katie very clearly understood specific products that would work for me specifically. I will definitely be asking for Katie specifically in the future. read more

There was even a period where the wax had to be cut off and not all the hair was removed. The receptionist at the front desk is a racist. When I came in to be serviced for my 9am appointment, she had an attitude when communicating with me and I thought maybe she's just not having a good day but I watched her be kind and respectful to everyone else but me. She then proceeds to tell me that my appointment time was taken and I DO NOT RECEIVE A GRACE PERIOD but they will get to me if they can. I go to another EWC all the time so I am familiar with their services and policy. She tells me to wait until the wax specialist finishes with her current customer. As 15 minutes pass by and I am under the impression that I will be next to be serviced, she tells me that I cannot be service and I have to reschedule after I explained to her that I cannot reschedule and that this should have been communicated to me before I arrived if they were not able to service me at my SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME! The lady was extremely rude and insensitive about my time and the inconvenience she caused me and continued to raise her voice to say she is not going to "argue with me" after I tried to negotiate an accommodation because of the lack of communication and unprofessionalism on their behalf. read more

Kari waxed my eyebrows (my first time) last week and I was so happy with her service and the results! I've always been afraid to wax them worrying about pain or poor shaping, but I couldn't have been more wrong! The wax they use is great and Kari expertly applied and removed. She had me take several looks along the way to make sure it was what I wanted, tweezed any strays and trimmed as well - which I had no idea was a thing! The only reason I came here instead of Velvet (which I love and highly recommend) was that I needed an appointment on a Sunday and European Waxing had an opening. I went in for a bikini wax and was led into the room where usually the waxer would let me undress in privacy and come back when I was done. But, NOPE I had to strip buck naked from the waist down in front of the waxer while she was prepping the hard wax. I came to European Wax Center when I first started getting Brazilian waxes. I got my first and second Brazilian waxes here. Since I was an inexperienced waxer, I thought that the service was okay. However, after getting waxed at a few other places, I realized what poor experiences I had at European Wax Center. I was waxed by the same woman on both visits. When she asked and I told her I had never had a Brazilian before, she seemed almost judgmental about it, which made me feel very uncomfortable at the outset. She did not leave the room to allow me to undress in privacy during either visit. She didn't really talk to me much during either wax, so it was very awkward. She also left a significant amount of wax on my body on my second visit. Finally, on both occasions, the hair started to grow back within a week of the wax. Sure, the prices are slightly lower here than they are at other waxing studios in the area. However, I would rather pay $5-$10 more for something that will last instead of paying less for something that I can only enjoy for roughly a week. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the place is clean and conveniently located. After testing a number of other waxing studios in the area, it is highly unlikely that I will return to European Wax Center. read more

I had a friend inform me that at your first visit, you can get a free wax (not sure what the limitations are). So I walked in and asked to get my eyebrows done. The receptionist was incredibly helpful - friendly, clear, and informative without pushing. She got me registered and introduced me to the waxing artist is be with. She took me to her room, which was clean and comfy. The waxing went a little longer than I'm used to, but I had all right small talk with the worker. She plucked a bit, then was done. I was escorted back to the lobby and the receptionist made sure I was set, knew about promotions, and when to schedule my next appointment bit wasn't until I got home when I noticed that I still had a bunch of hairs that were easily noticeable (ends of eyebrows near my nose). They also weren't as shaped as I asked them to be - they were basically just cleaned up. Also, for 2-3 days after the wax, my eyebrows itched. Something I've never experienced before. Overall, this was a friendly and clean environment, but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I like it better because it's faster and then I don't have that fear someone in the hall will see me when then come in. I went to get my eyebrows waxed for the first time there and it was PAINFUL. The lady used tweezers and just hacked at my eyelids, disregarding whether she was plucking skin or not. I left with multiple bleeding pores on both eyelids and was not happy. Easy to say that I will NOT be going back ever. read more

Followup to review regarding 12/23 waxing with Kari. I called the salon and asked for the owner ONLY to return my call regarding the Brazilian was being done incorrectly. I stated exact days I could be reached because I was going on a cruise and would only have cellphone service on specific days. Instead of the owner calling an employee called back stating I would receive the money back for the Brazilian wax and free products at my next service. This is not a satisfactory resolution. I am suffering long term consequences which is affecting my vacation and the weeks after. As stated prior I had a detailed conversation with Kari about preference to leave a small patch of hair at pubic bone region. Within 5 minutes of leaving the salon in a restroom something felt different than prior Brazilian waxes. I discovered in a restaurant bathroom that she removed all hair. This for many reasons is an issue. I also had my entire leg done as well as 4 other areas. I have had my entire leg done at other salons prior multiple times. On day 8 of my vacation I discovered a strip that was about 3 inches wide of hair about 1/4 to 1/3 inch long on the back side of my calf. This has never happened before when my entire leg was waxed. I have said thousands of time in my life it is not the mistakes you make in life but how you choose to respond. It waS UNACCEPTABLE the day my waxing was performed and I called into the salon about the error for the receptionist to respond in the manner in which she did (see review below). I have seen in reviews below an owner responding to reviews left on Yelp. I would like the opportunity to discuss with you my poor service by front desk staff and the error with lasting consequences from the waxing professional. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT go to Chelsea. Not only did she wax my brows ridiculously thin after I told her twice to keep them thick and keep the shape, she gave me the most painful wax I have ever experienced. I left with a gap in my right eyebrow, multiple bleeding pores, and a forehead that stung for about a week. I had an event that night and I looked absolutely terrible in every picture and got multiple comments about how my eyebrows looked way too thin. I have gone to two different waxers there. I had a great experience with Sarah. She was gentle and I had minimal discomfort and redness. I also went to Katie, and liked her less. I experienced much more discomfort. I think it is because she didn't hold the skin when she removed the wax. She also pinched my skin a bunch with the tweezers.
