I have gotten waxing services at numerous European wax center locations in the Memphis area. The waxing experience have always been very different each time. The most painful experience I had with a waxer was at the Collierville location. The waxer was very talkative but the most painful with waxing. At the poplar location, I encountered a waxer that barely removed any hair which I noticed after I got home. At that same location, I had another waxer that left an enormous amount of wax residue on me. The Cordova location had a waxer that was very rough with her touch and not a pleasant experience as well. I cannot tell you if the place or this franchise holds up to its name. If you find a waxer you like, it may be difficult to get them another time as I have found their turnover rate to be very high. I do not think many of them stay with this company or the same facility. read more

Got my first downstairs wax here for my birthday and enjoyed it a lot. The wax lady was nice and talked me through everything so it was a smooth wax. Despite it being my first time she prepared me for when it would hurt more or less and helped calm my nerves to where it felt like the pain was at most 3/10. They will try to sell you on their in house after care products and I purchased the mini three kit- I enjoyed using it a lot and have it on my list of items to rebuy. I had an outstanding appointment to go again but honestly- I'm not a huge fan of smooth under areas and don't mind a bit of hair so never returned. But if I ever have to, I'll go to this location and ask for whichever wax lady I had last time. read more

This was my 1st time visiting this location which was by default. I was meaning to go to the location off germantown pky, but I'm glad I came here. The front desk reps (especially Ashley) were nice and had great customer service. Ashely told me I would be in good hands and I was with Abigail. Let me start this review by saying I don't want to discourage anyone from going here - just trying to give a little advice. If you have been waxing for a while and don't have sensitive skin, I think this is a great place to go. They are quick, have a clean facility, and the prices are more than reasonable. On the other hand, if you haven't had a lot of waxes in the past and do have sensitive skin, I'm not sure this is the right place to go. I went to get my sideburns waxed from this place for the first time, and there was no consultation whatsoever. The girl was very sweet and seemed knowledgable, but no questions about my skin were asked. Perhaps it's my fault for not telling her that my skin is sensitive, but the wax left a lot of irritation and what looks like could be a burn on my face. My advice is to go to a small, nice salon that will take more time with you and probably have more choices for sensitive skin. This is more a "get in and get out" place, which works very well for a lot of people. Just not for me :) read more

Well I first decided to go to EWC after reading several positive reviews about Jessie B. Back in 2017. So when I called to book her it was no surprise that she was fully booked 4 weeks out. I was able to get on her books and have stayed their ever since. She is great if I could give 20 stars I would. Jessie B. Is patient, gentle, thorough and very knowledgeable. So I've always been the one afraid to get a Brazilian Wax, but my friend talked me into it. I've heard great things about this place, so I was excited to go! My appointment was at 12:45, I got there at 12:35. The receptionist at the front desk got me all checked in, she did ask if I was taking any medication. They ask this because it can react with the wax. She told me I have a 9 minute grace period and if I come late just call to make another appointment. I waited for about 5 minutes and they called me to the back. My sister was with me and they told me she couldn't come back unless she was my child. So I went to the room, she lined the bed with fresh paper. I took everything off from the waist down and got on the table. She put on new gloves and everything was clean. Every time she laid down new wax she use a different stick! So I won't go into detail about getting the wax, but I will talk about the experience. Alice was the young lady I had! She was really great about telling that it was going to hurt due to the fact it was my first time, but once I got use to it it's ok. She talked to me the whole time making me less uncomfortable about being half naked lol. I was done in about 10 minutes and yes it was slightly painful but my tattoos hurt worst lol. I only had to pay 23 because it was my first time but I ended up asking to get my stomach line waxed as well so it was an extra 12. I say wear a dress if you go because I have on shorts and I can't cross my legs just yet! Great experience, I will be back every 3 weeks! I hope this helps! read more

All of the ladies there are wonderful and at first I had a very hectic schedule and got appointments whenever I had the chance, so my wax specialists were never the same but always great. After a while I was able to be more consistent with when I came in which meant I could be more consistent with who I had appointments with and I hit the lottery with Sarah. If you are looking for someone to be completely yourself with and not feel like just another part of her job while you're getting the most painful part of your body waxed I 100% recommend Sarah. I'm no stranger to waxing. For years, I've had my eyebrows, lip, and stomach waxed and none of those areas even phase me anymore. However, I've always been too scared to try a bikini wax because of how sensitive the skin is below the equator. Anyway, I swallowed my fears and booked an appointment at EWC through their easily navigated, and very convenient, app. I didn't have a tech preference when booking since I'd never been to EWC. I got Cara, and I feel I lucked out, even though I'm sure the other girls are nice. Cara was very easy going, soft spoken, and informative (and super professional!). I told her it was my first time doing bikini and asked her not to tell me when she was going to remove the strip, she obliged. She kept a light conversation going the whole time which really, really relaxed me and took my mind off of being stark naked (from the waist down) in the butterfly position with someone navigating around my vagina. The whole procedure took maybe 10-12 minutes (full bikini) and I am more than satisfied with first time results. I wouldn't say it's "painful" so much as it is uncomfortable and hot. The wax is warm, but the sting of the rip makes the skin feel like it's burning, but I swear only for a few moments. I have a relatively low pain threshold so I'd be honest. The actual pain is about 2-3 seconds immediately following strip removal, but truly, it's not terrible. I was geared up for *much* worse and was relieved. The redness subsided after about 3-4 hours and everything is nice and clean. I'm very pleased and look forward to continuing with this method of hair removal. read more

I've been to this place twice and I'm not the biggest fan. Honestly they try to sell you products the whole time you're being waxed. They also don't leave the room while you change which is something I've never experienced at other waxing facilities. They also charge more than other wax studios and try to rope you into waxing packages and multi wax deals. I would prefer to just have a cheaper wax up front and that would also be more likely to secure my loyalty. I'm not planning on going back. read more

As your Community Manager, it is a little weird to talk about my waxing experiences. How am I supposed to look you in the eye at the next Elite event when you've heard the nitty gritty about my grooming habits? But then I thought, I ask y'all to share your experiences, even the embarrassing ones, so I should too...so here it goes. I hate body hair. Hate. With a passion. I stare in my magnified mirror every day while putting on my makeup and pluck away to make sure I'm not mistaken for Sasquatch. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that I've been waxing my arms since I was in high school. What can I say? I just don't think it is lady like to have hair in certain place...especially your arms. Bleck. Anyways, I've had a few bad waxing experiences lately so I have been on the hunt for a new spot. I read the nice reviews here and thought I'd give it a whirl. It is definitely chain-y (there are 584 locations - wow) and a little bit like a cattle call...but more importantly, it is efficient. Appointments run like clockwork and they are clearly good at what they do. As far as bed side manner, Megan was very nice. It is always awkward taking your underwear off within 2 minutes of meeting someone so I appreciate the small talk aka she made me feel as comfortable as I could be. I love what she did with my eyebrows, although I wish she had used scissors to shorten the length a bit. She just used wax and didn't pluck with tweezers to clean up the strays afterwards. Same with the Brazilian...It was all just so very quick. This is both good and bad. On the one hand, her wax was magical. One of the least painful experiences I've had with waxing. But I don't mind it taking a little longer to make sure everything is gone. I'm accustomed to people getting every little hair (with tweezers, if need be), and instead, she said, "There are a few stray hairs but they won't come out with wax." So I went home and got them with tweezers myself. As far as pricing is concerned it was very reasonable. And I got my Brazilian 1/2 off since it was my first time there. But like I said, I wouldn't mind spending more if it meant every single hair was gone. Would I come here again? Absolutely. I'd especially recommend it to people who aren't completely OCD like I am. Huge fan of being able to make appointments online. And you get $5 off for every person you refer. They also really push their products and package deals so be prepared for that. I can't hold that against them...I know that is their business model...it just makes me uncomfortable. I did buy the ingrown serum for $25...I just hope it is as good as they say it is! read more

This was my second time going in over a year. My first experience was not as good and it made me sort of nervous (& afraid of the pain) The lady didn't really talk to me and it hurt! But today I had Carolyne and she made me forget about my nervousness and being uncomfortable. We talked about almost EVERYTHING & she made me feel completely comfortable! I liked everything about this place: client service, price, cleanliness and overall appearance of the salon. The only (but a biggie) reason I wouldn't recommend European Wax is their business model. 15 minutes is not enough time for a full Brazilian wax without skimping on after care and clean up. It's not that I was pressured it was I could see the pressure and anxiety that the policy caused in the specialists which caused me to be nervous. As I was already stripped to the waist and expoooosed I certainly didn't need it. I used to go faithfully for about 10 months but when my favorite specialist, Katrina, left I decided I couldn't deal with their business model any longer. One time long ago I went to the Germantown Rd. Location and wasn't impressed and had decided against this particular waxing company. I like to go to a particular salon in Nashville, but decided I still needed to find a Memphis waxer for convenience purposes. I decided to try out this location. Making an appointment is extremely easy, especially if you have their app. I was paired with Jessie. I was easily checked in and after a short wait, Jessie called me back. She explained her process for shaping the perfect brows and asked if I had any questions or concerns. I was happy with the finished product. I have since had 2 more appointments with her. She is very sweet and nice. Definitely will be back. Jessie, you rock! :) Side note: parking is limited and the parking area is oddly shaped. I have a large vehicle so I have to park a little aways. This location is behind a liquor store in an oddly shaped shopping center. Kind of hidden. read more

Love European Wax Center - this is a no frills, easy-in easy-out kind of place. I recently moved back to town (sadly, only until June - then I'll be switching back over to Trip Advisor and finding a new wax specialist in Spain!) and needed to get ready for a quick trip to Destin. Started my Yelp search, found our fearless leader Joelle's review, and decided I was headed there pronto. My bottom line is that there are three things I adore in a waxing session: speed, rip efficiency, and cleanliness. EWC gets an A+ in all three. This is not one of those gentle "go ahead and take your clothes off, put on a robe, get on the table and I'll be back in a few moments" kind of places - this was a "take everything off for your waxing and get up on the table so we can get this party started!" kind of place. Sure, it seems kind of assembly-lineish, but I'm really okay with that to be honest. I don't really know who wouldn't be when it comes to something that doesn't look pretty, doesn't feel pretty, and certainly doesn't end pretty (at least for the first 24 hours!). All of that being said, I went in for a: full leg, Brazilian, chin, and eyebrow wax. Things that I loved about the wax center: - No pressure sales. I was not asked to purchase the wax pass (though if I were to still be in town, I would have, without them asking) or any products. - The AC was cranked up hella high; I'm a sweater when I'm waxed and man, that 65 degrees made me really happy! - My Brazilian was half off as a first-time customer! - She used a new applicator with every.single.wax.application - THE WAX!!!!!!!! Amagad, love this hard wax she was using. - This was a good, clean wax with few strays remaining Things I didn't love about the wax center: - Eyebrows. This is the only thing I will not come back here for; I want a bit more detail and some tweezing / trimming to make them look purty. In my opinion the assembly line doesn't work for this and I'm okay going to another salon for them. I only get one (maybe two) more opportunities to head back to EWC; what are YOU waiting for?! I'd first like to say that even though I had a rather bad experience, I still tipped my wax specialist 18% on the full price (I received a discount for my first time). I don't remember who my wax specialist was, but I did not really enjoy my time. I do not recommend this location, but I can't speak for the others. I walked in and checked in with the receptionist Maya. I was handed their package deals and then asked to take a seat. I met a lovely lady in the waiting room and she talked to me about the process. I was nervous because I'd never been waxed before and was going for a Brazilian. My specialist came and got me. As soon as we got into the room, I wasn't explained anything, I was just told to undress. It was very impersonal and not a friendly atmosphere. I didn't need babied, but I would have liked some explanation and a more welcoming tone. I told her it was my first time and she didn't go ahead and start telling me about the process, she just jumped right in. She didn't explain to me anything about breathing techniques BEFORE waxing. She ripped off and then told me to take a deep breath. It was agonizing and I am no wuss, I have tattoos all over my body. When I was finished, my specialist kept shoving products and told me I had to get the ingrown hair growth serum. She even walked out into the lobby and grabbed one from the shelf and put it in my check-out space. I looked over and the bottle was almost $30! She just forced it on me and I even asked whether it would be free because she acted so flippantly about it, not even handing it to me!!! As I was standing there through this 3-5 minute process, Maya then asks me to take a seat so that she can check in 2 women behind me. So I've been standing there already for several minutes and neither woman was behind me before. It was extremely rude and unprofessional. I didn't enjoy my experience at all. My specialist was shoving products down my throat instead of making the process a little smoother and more friendly. I felt rushed and my specialist didn't care to share anything with me unless I asked first. It felt like a corporate chain where they have to get you out in 10min or under. I would expect a little more time and effort if I'm going to be paying the full price of over $50. This was an all around terrible and slightly traumatizing experience for my first waxing. read more
