I left before my appointment because of what I experienced while waiting in the lobby. Two front desk employees spent several minutes making jokes about people who weigh 200 pounds. At one point, one asked, "Would you rather weigh 200 pounds or stop listening to music at work?" The other replied, "200 pounds? Gross. I'd rather my ears bleed." They laughed and continued making body weight the punchline of their conversation. This wasn't a private conversation. iIt was taking place in front of customers in the waiting area. European Wax Center is a business where people come for personal, body-focused services, and many clients are already feeling vulnerable. Hearing employees openly body shame people was shocking, unprofessional, and made me feel so uncomfortable that I chose to leave rather than receive my service. I hope management takes this seriously and provides coaching so every client feels welcomed and respected, regardless of their body size. read more

You feel welcomed when you first walk in every time. I have been a customer for one year at the European Wax Center next to Trader Joe's. Love this location and I love the staff. The store is always clean and the staff is always welcoming. I purchased a 12 month wax pass for my face, 2nd time, and I have had 4 eyebrows tints to date. I come to this location a few times a month for a variety of waxing services. I book online which is very convenient. I usually get a few emails/text messages prior to my appointment. I have seen two estheticians there and I like one over the other, so I make sure to book with the one that I have a better connection with and she is a bit more gentle and friendly. I mean you are dealing with hot wax on the skin. I know there is a technique to it, but taking your time and having a pleasant bedside manner is important. ;) I feel like the front desk staff have a script that they follow when dealing with customers before and after the appointment which I find gives off a cold and hurried feel instead of a welcoming and warm feel to it. EWC locations have always seemed more like a cookie cutter/corporate business rather than a calming spa experience. This was my 1st time at this location and I have mixed reviews. I was with Lily (amazing lady) but the quality of work was not as good that I've had at other locations. Her wax pot wasn't working well. I didn't mind the time as I had a lot of hair (been awhile since I waxed), but coming home I noticed that I had leftover wax and hair everywhere. Then ..........as it dries and stiffens, RIPS it off your body, grabbing with it tufts, clusters and bevys of unwanted hair. I went here to get my brows waxed. They completely burned my skin. For some reason she put the wax on and left it on for a really long time on one of my eyes. I just read that they are supposed to ask you if you use any Retinol products. They did not ask me this beforehand. Honestly I don't know if the waxer didn't know what she was doing or if the person checking me in failed to ask me about my usage of Retinol. But the fact is now I have two badly burned eyes. I LOVE this place! The specialists are great, no matter who you go to! It's almost like a therapy session. My most recent favorite is Dominque - though everyone is truly amazing. She was able to take my little criticisms when she asked how I liked my brows and fixed them. The bikini wax is ALWAYS challenging and she made it fairly painless. She held my skin and ripped away (if you know you know) - it's the holding down of the skin that gives it less pain! You can text for reservations or reschedules which is a life saver because my work schedule is so hectic. Came in to European Wax Center South Reno during soft opening! I love this location as it's right next to Trader Joe's. I can run all my errands at once. I was going to the one out on Mae Anne for a while then switched over to Sparks. I got the opportunity to sneak a peek at the South Reno location and met the sweetest waxer Sierriah. Sierriah was a great listener as I expressed skin sensitivity. She made sure that the wax was not too hot for my skin by testing the temperature. She periodically checked in on how I was handling the pain. She also gave me recommendations on products to use to keep my skin soft and bump free and allowed me to test the product before buying. I really appreciate Alyssa and will be missing her as my wax specialist seeing as I do not plan on coming back to this location ever again. The trouble and nail in the coffin for me was the package or pass special. Which I reluctantly agreed to on my last visit because I figured I'd be coming back regularly and it would pay off somehow down the line, maybe save me some money? BUT, After asking questions on how the passes would work, I can see clearly now that I was misled and misinformed. This isn't even the worst part for me. It's that I called ahead back in October to cancel an appointment that I would not be able to attend for financial reasons. As I feel all of us are struggling at this time. During said call I asked if I'd be charged automatically because if so- then I wouldn't cancel my appointment and at least get waxed and make the payment worth it. The woman on the phone assured me that no payment would be made automatically until my next visit and that my package or pass does not expire and could redeem or continue use at any time. I was absolutely charged $80 for a visit that I did not attend and was told I wouldn't be charged for. After seeing this I called while on break at my job to see why this had happened and what could be done. I was told that a manager would be notified because there wasn't one there. I was told a paper or document would be filled out for me to notify the manager and that the Manager would contact me either the next day or that following Monday. They encouraged me to call that Monday or after if I am still not contacted or helped at that time. So Surely enough I've been calling for the last month asking to speak to a manager and being repeatedly told by the women who answer the phone that they will send emails that it will be urgent that I will be contacted and all will be done that can be done. To date I have not been contacted even once no apology has been issued no refund no payment extension no explanation, nothing. Being a person of authority at my job I can't understand how anyone could let this happen. If I received word at my job that a customer had made a complaint about a service that they received, I would be told to immediately contact the customer and make things right as soon as possible and apologize wholeheartedly. The lack of care and attention and urgency that I received left me no choice but to leave this review. If anyone intends on coming to this location I would say don't sign up for any passes or at least ask and receive the full information on them before this happens to you. I am frustrated that I will have to find a new place and start over somewhere but I don't feel comfortable or feel that this place continues to deserve my loyalty or my business. read more

I received a Brazilian a few months ago for the first time in a couple years. The woman was very nice and made me feel comfortable. The problem lies in how she waxed. I have had many, many waxes in the past. This waxer waxed, pulling from side to side. I am STILL dealing with ingrown hairs. I have always been waxed with vertical pulls from bottom to top and have never had these issues. I wanted to say something during the wax, but figured this was the "new way" of doing things. Well, I'm here to say now.. that I wish I never spend $80 on a wax in the first place. I even bought the serum for ingrown hair. To STILL be dealing with ingrown hairs, MONTHS after service is horrific and I will NOT be returning. I feel terrible for referring people and hope they are not dealing with the same issues that I am. Such a shame. read more

Came into this location, as it is new and right by Trader Joe's. They were able to take an apt same day, but an 1.5 later. I came and THE WHOLE experience was a sales pitch. From the lady waxing me talking about different products I need to buy (when I already told her I have 4 different ones) and use more frequently to the lady at the desk pushing a new wax package on me when I already told her no thank you and I was in a rush, she proceeded to try to go through her scripted talk. I try to love this place as I know it is one of the cleanest places in town but I literally can not handle going in there once a month and having to survive a massive sales pitch, not once but TWICE for 25 solid minutes. My first visit was in June for a Brazilian wax and it was with Rachelle! She is very down to earth and easy to talk to. We spoke like I have been seeing her for years!!! i have been getting waxed by taylor for about 4 months. she is quick, painless, and efficient at getting out all the little stubborn hairs. she is so knowledgeable with product! I have almost every product she has recommended and i notice a HUGE difference. my skin is soft, my ingrown hairs are almost non-existant, my hair grows back slower over time, and i smell AMAZING! I am always greeted with a smile by the front desk. I was looking for a permanent place to get my waxing done and was very disappointed. I meant to schedule an appointment with the Mae Anne office and when I showed up there 5 mins early, they told me my appointment was at the S McCarran office. The lady kindly told me the quickest route there and ensured me that the McCarran office would take me in even being late. When I got to the McCarran office, I was about 10-11 mins late, which was 2 mins past their late arrival time. I was told they couldn't take me because of it. I completely understand not being able to take a late client. I do think being late if very rude. However, I wouldn't have bothered driving over there if I wasn't ensured I'd still be taken in despite being late. I've never been late to any esthetic appointments so this was a new experience for me. I was really hoping I'd be able to find a good place to go, but I was very disappointed with my experience. They offered for me to come later in the day, but I was leaving town and could not. My appointment time was my only availability.
