First time here! And it was a success! I did not realize they had a different method of hair removal. They actually use a quality black wax that dries hard and thinly on the skin in quick seconds. Then it gets removed with a fast peel vs a rip like you would imagine with the cloth strips. And to make it 5-stars better....the pain level is lowwww....to me anyway. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and can do laser - now that can be painful in certain areas! But really it's not that bad! I was pleasantly surprised. The service was top notch with Larissa. I have been going to the European Wax Center at Tempe Market Place (2040 E Rio Salado Pkwy M6, Tempe, 85288) for just over three years. Shortly after starting there, my waxer left and the one the store assigned to me next was BRUTAL (I have a very thick, full beard, so getting the edges waxed needs to be done correctly). Therefore, I researched the waxers on staff and saw that Alicia had gotten outstanding reviews, and specifically concerning my needs, and I have been going to her ever since. Alicia does so well, I recommended my best friend to go to her, since his girlfriend likes his face completely smooth, but, his beard grows in like mine, and her tips from each of us far exceed the paltry percentage she gets per customer from EWC. European Wax offers year long passes, where customers can go as often as necessary, and I since I need to go every two weeks to minimize the how much hair is being pulled at one time, I started getting those, since it would save a lot of money. I have five months left before the current year is up. My best friend also bought a year pass, after experiencing Alicia's skills and the lasting results. In the time I have been going to this location, the store has gone through SEVEN managers, with the latest one being Courtney, who has been there a month and a half. And now, Alicia is fired. Funny how the SIX managers BEFORE Courtney, did not fire Alicia, so, it should not take a rocket scientist to figure out who is the problem. Since my waxer is gone, one I trusted and counted on to do the job right (and we always have a great rapport), and I hold those in charge of the store, above the manager level, responsible, I will NOT be coming back to European Wax Centers, ever, for my business. I also want the balance of my pass fees refunded. When I talked to Courtney, she said she could only give me store credit. When I asked to for the corporate number, she said that the location was a franchise, so there is no corporate tie. After some digging, I called Courtney back and asked to speak to her bosses, Lauren and Jacqueline. She said she would pass the message. After not hearing back from either of them, I went into the store and asked her in person for their numbers. She said she could not give out the numbers, but, had left a message with them about my, "concerns". Later, she called me back and claimed that I had gone enough times that there would not be any prorate left on the balance. I do not appreciate European Wax Center for bouncing Courtney from the San Tan Village location to the Tempe Market Place location, because she could not work and play well with others, there (funny thing about the internet, things of record NEVER go away), and I do not appreciate Courtney for firing Alicia when six other managers prior had the management skills to not fire her, nor do I appreciate her gatekeeping the contact information for her bosses. But, that's ok, I will find it and let them know what I think. read more

After more than 10 years as a customer, it's disappointing to say that I will be ending my relationship with this location. The wax specialists have always been the reason I stayed. Their professionalism and quality of work kept me coming back year after year. In fact, one waxer in particular was the reason I continued purchasing wax passes and remained a loyal customer for so long. When I was contacted and told my future appointments needed to be rescheduled because Alicia was no longer with the company, I knew immediately that I would not be continuing services here. I made it clear that I was not interested in being moved to another wax specialist. My previous experience with another waxer left me extremely unhappy with the results, and it took a long time to regain my confidence in the services. What made this situation even more disappointing was the way it was handled. My interaction with Courtney, the General Manager, was unprofessional and dismissive. As a customer of more than a decade, I expected a much higher level of communication and respect. At this point, I would rather allow the remaining balance on my wax pass to go unused than continue services at this location. That's how strongly I feel about the decline in customer care and management. Not only am I canceling my membership, but I have also told friends and family members whom I previously referred to this location about my experience. Extremely disappointed with my experience. Not only was the specialist(LEAH) late, but they were also incredibly rude and dismissive once they finally called me back . I arrived early to my appointment, I do not mind waiting. That's not a problem at all . But I set my appointment time, I would expect EWC to respect their clients and their time . It is ironic that EWC demands punctuality from clients but shows zero respect for our time. There is a total lack of accountability here. I started going to this location specifically for the person my best friend has been going to for over 2 years and is by far the best of anyone he's had there before her. After my initial appointment I signed up for an annual pass as the normal cost is $60 for a full face waxing and with as fast as my facial hair grows it's more economical. After 4 visits, the newest manager Courtney fired the person that I had specifically signed up to go to. I called to cancel my pass and get a refund on the portion I hadn't used yet, I was told they would only refund the rest as store credit, which since they fired the person I specifically wanted for the service, I was no longer interested in doing business with them. I spoke to Courtney who said there was nothing else she could do, and when I asked to speak to her immediate supervisor I was told this is a franchise so I asked for the owners contact information and was told she could reach out to them to contact me but there isn't anything they will be able to do. This is ridiculous, I don't understand how they have owners that have no phone numbers, emails or any way to contact them when there is an issue that is not being handled properly at the store level. I went in for a Brazilian wax and requested Angel based off the good reviews I've read. I myself an an Esthetician with experience doing brazilian waxes, but I prefer not to do my own. I also tend to go far too long between waxes so I know I am not the ideal client. Angel was a true professional, very quick and efficient despite my hair being overgrown. To start off with, I didn't know my regular waxer Korie was leaving and I've been coming here for about a year and a half now. A heads up that I was seeing someone else would have been much appreciated. I can't remember the girls name but I remember I got my face and Brazilian done.... Usually, I get the full face and then Brazilian done and it just seems most sanitary? However, that wasn't the case. We started off with the Brazilian first, she had missed a few areas even after we had did the clean up. Anyways, we get to the full face and dear god I'm left looking completely red. I told her I wanted the fine hairs gone (the ones I couldn't reach with tweezers) but when I left, the waxer DIDN'T show me the finished product and walked me out. After leaving, I looked at my brows and was very disappointed to see the product. They were thin and the time I had waited for them to grow out (from overplucking in moddleschool) was gone. I came in today to make an appointment for my daughter for a eyebrow wax, she is 12. The receptionist said she wouldn't service her because of her age. I asked is there a policy on what age to service at ? She said somewhere between 14-16 yrs of age depending on there pain tolerance. I found it strange "between 14-16 and not a definite age." I can respect the rules but never came across this grey area rule. As a parent I wouldn't put my child in a situation they couldn't handle. I brought her to Lunchbox in Scottsdale when she was 11 and they happily serviced her. I called European Wax Center at Hilton Village after my issue with the Tempe location and they said they didn't have any age restrictions, all I do is sign a concent form. I just felt discriminated against. Receptionist had a unprofessional attitude and I would not recommend anyone coming in here.
