I went in for a few services and was overall fairly satisfied. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist by name. The lady was polite and made me feel welcomed. I was offered water and quickly completed the necessary form. The waxing specialist was nice. She had an outstanding personality that made me really comfortable which is great since it's a fairly intimate service (depending on what you're there for). The facility was extremely well kept and clean. The only reason I didn't rate a full 5 stars is because I did discover a few spots hair was left when I got home. When paying the higher costs for the service, I wouldn't expect to find any missed patches and there were a few. Overall, I'd give them another try due to the friendly and comfortable atmosphere. If I walk away again with missed patches, at that point I'll explore other options for waxes but I'm optimistic that next go around will be better. read more

I went here once pre covid, when I waxed regularly, and then I didn't get a wax for quite some time. I had a good experience the first time, so I decided to return once vaccinated. I was nervous about pain since it had been so long and I've always had sensitive skin. However, when Kelsey did my brazilian, it was as easy as ever. Kelsey is AWESOME. This was my first time here and I just moved to Arizona. I have been getting my bikini wax since I was 25 back in Los Angeles and I am now 55 and have not had a wax since Covid hit because everything was shut down in Los Angeles! I had a wonderful experience! I love how professional the staff was and how clean the facility was. My cerologist, Liv, was really sweet and did an outstanding job. She explained all the steps of the waxing process beforehand. Normally I go to nail salons for waxing services because they're cheaper, but in the future I would consider paying extra for a specialty waxing service like Waxing the City because the quality is definitely better. It's evident that all the cerologists are highly trained. First time customers get a 50% off discount, which was the biggest reason I chose to book with Waxing the City. At the end, they suggest some products to you but aren't pushy about it at all. Plus, the products are relatively cheap! They also give you a goodie bag with mint, CHOCOLATE (!!!!!), and lip balm. Zero stars if I could!!!!! I had a Brazilian done last week. I expressed how I have difficult hair and would like to be waxed in a certain way. Jennifer H said no to how I wanted to be waxed and that she could do it because she was trained well......and even stated that improperly waxing would rip the hair off right under the surface instead of removing it at the bulb...... So pissed because I head to cancun In a little over a week and won't be able to wear any cute suits because she did exactly that. Ripped the hair just under the skin. Things look terrible, I will spend the first part of summer with ingrown hair problems which is super painful. it will take months for things to grow out. I wish providers would check their pride and just listen to their customers. I want my money back but seeing how I'm here just for a visit it isn't likely. Difficult hair is hard, if you can't do the job just say so. Don't lie and say you are able to wax anything other than standard basic hair. Pulling the skin very tight is hard to do with one hand. I wanted to hold the skin tight but she wants her clients to just relax....... Well I should have just left when she refused to do what I KNOW NEEDS TO BE DONE! I've been here a few times and usually things are cool but I'm a little disappointed I drove all the way there to be denied service cause I only had 3 weeks of hair growth instead of 4. Jennifer is my esthetician who is super personable and friendly each and every time I go in. Jennifer leads a solid team, which some come and go due to the constant turnover and nature of the business. For as long as I have been going Kennedy has been killing it at the front end with her customer service and product knowledge. The only downfall I have about this place is they got rid of their "black book" that saved you money with different packages. They now only offer buy 4, get 1 free. Wish the franchise would consider bringing back the one that had options such as the ones for students. read more

Ok, let me just say that I never thought I would give a place that forcibly rips my hair from my body a five star rating. It's kind of nice being wrong every once in a while. Waxing the City has been amazing in all aspects. Some waxing places feel almost like a hospital, other are like getting waxed in an office building. And while I have no problem with either, Waxing the City has a great atmosphere and the staff is awesome. I get my brazilians done by Jennifer. She makes you feel comfortable, she's professional, and she keeps your appointment light and fun. Plus she makes you as smooth as a new born baby with as little discomfort as physical possible given the circumstances. Since my moved to Arizona last year I have been a fan of waxing the city Tempe location, to the point that this the only place I ever want to visit for waxing. The staff is super friendly and efficient. I never had an issue with my appointments, they always accommodate last minutes changes when possible. Booking online is extremely easy, and text reminders are super helpful- really appreciate text over calls. Ran into a small scheduling issue, but they called/texted me and the owner even offered to come in early based on the conflict- this kind of service seems unheard of in this day in age! She kept my mind off the pain by having real conversation, it felt like I've known her for years! She is very gentle but precise! My downtown lady has never felt or looked so good! During my visit I was scheduled for a half leg but was planning to reschedule since I had to leave early for a short meeting but Rose at the front desk (I believe that was her name!) was able to get me in again later that day! Visited Waxing The City yesterday and received a wax from Rochelle. She is very pleasant and professional & did an excellent job!! I had spent about a year going to another well known waxing studio and found that as I continued to go my ingrown hair would get worse and worse. Rochelle explained to me that it partially has to do with technique and how much hair is being pulled at once. Large quick areas usually mean hair is not being pulled by the roots. She did small strips at a time & did not try to push me into buying $200 worth of product. Instead she gently suggested about $30 worth of product that will last 6 months. I decided to purchase a package of buy 9 get 3 free & received 50% off my first wax. I returned today to have another area of my body waxed so we could be sure I have no skin reactions when I do this same wax 2 days before my wedding. This wax also came 50% off!
