We entered the market as first time home buyers in the midst of the pandemic, a very strong seller's market. We had South Pasadena or San Marino in mind with a price range we were comfortable with. After speaking with a few realtors online, the chances seemed slim, they all suggested that we start looking elsewhere or raise our price range. I stumbled onto Lin Realty Group's website online randomly, and I figured it couldn't hurt to set up a call. I had heard such incredible things about Eva from when she sold my best friends parents' home in Monterey Park for top dollar, over a million, for a home that all other real estate agents had told them would be impossible to sell for a million. However, I knew she was based in Pasadena with a focus in the local area in LA county and I lived in Irvine. But like the true professional Eva is, when my family friends asked if she would consider helping me find an agent or consider the off chance of taking me on, she responded that she would be more than happy to help sell my parents' home in Irvine. I couldn't have been more shocked and thrilled that she was going to come out to see the property and see whether we would be on the same page. I was more than impressed by her vision, attention to detail and her sweet and caring disposition. tl;dr: An efficient smart lead and team that are always responsive and helpful far beyond close of escrow. They will feel like family to you (the part of family that you like and want to see) and take the edge off of making such a large scary purchase, walking you through step by step at a pace you are comfortable with. Our family started looking for a home in Pasadena at the end of 2018. It was hard. Nothing felt right. And the agents we met were less than exciting and not terribly helpful. We found most of our listings on redfin. Honestly, with the information on the internet, I felt like an agent wasn't really useful. When we found our home, I was very excited but nervous about the whole process. We met Eva after we fell in love with the home. So I thought working with her would be the same as working with anyone else. But I was wrong. She is warm and professional, genuinely looking out for your best interest, and works hard for you at any and all hours. During negotiations, she made sure we were comfortable with the decisions being made, gave us excellent advice while still allowing us to make educated decisions, and made sure we were not overextending our budget. During escrow and the discovery period when things were getting heated with the sellers, Eva would have us step back and reassess to make sure we still liked and wanted the property. My experience with realtors in the past, including with my own cousin who is a realtor, is that their career motivation is primarily driven by money. There is nothing wrong with wanting to make money, money provides us with the opportunity to live comfortably and happily, which in turn gives us the opportunity to make a positive difference in this world by helping others. But what I have seen, again with those realtors I have known, including my cousin, is that the nature of this career seems to bring so much attention to the money that it becomes the end goal and nothing more, which is a shame. I also always thought that realtors depended so much on the MLS access to sell houses that often they would not really earn that commission, which being in California, and in LA County, is insanely high. I never felt that realtors deserved such a huge cut of a home that we put so much time and effort to maintain. I spoke to two realtors before I found Eva, one of them was my cousin, and during that time, I was highly stressed, I had been diagnosed with cancer the year before and with the costs of alternative medicine and not being able to work for that year, I decided it was time to sell the one asset I had to be able to continue to afford my treatments and to fully heal. And neither really could relieve the burden that selling my condo caused. I still found myself worried about who to hire to fix even minor things or to give a fresh coat of paint to the interior to make it move in ready. We really enjoyed working with Eva Lin during our stint in LA both in buying and selling several properties. "Wow!" That's the main thing that comes to mind when I think of my realtor, Eva Lin, and her team. She is 100% on top of her game and clearly has a passion for what she does. During the early stages of working with her, I was still having misgivings about whether buying a home was a sound financial decision for me.
