Stopped in for emissions test. Don't be put off by the dirty mechanics shop -- I was extremely impressed by the excellent customer service and quick turnaround. Also offered on-the-spot registration and was able to give me a new month sticker as well. A mechanic even put my stickers on for me. I would come back for repairs. read more

I can't count the number of times where he's given us advice such as "you know, maybe instead of fixing this you should look into getting a new car" or "we could repair (insert problem) but if you're okay doing (insert cheaper remedy) then you can save you money." We don't go to anyone else, not even for oil changes. read more

Absolutely hands down the worst shop I have ever worked with. I ran into a problem with a solenoid in my transmission. Called my regular shop and the couldn't get me in. Called Chuck with Evans auto and told him exactly what I needed replaced and asked if he could get it done first thing in the morning. He reassured me if I brought it down first thing in the morning he could get me in and out by 11 am. Also told me it would be in between $300-$400 dollars. I brought the truck down at 7:45, 15 minutes before they opened at 8. Chuck came pulling into the parking lot at 8:15, no big deal. Spoke with him briefly about the repair and reminded him once again of the 11:00 time line and the time crunch I was in. Chuck calls me at 10:15 to tell me they have diagnosed it and it needs the transmission solenoid needs to be replaced... I told him I already told you that is what I needed replaced please get it done, I am in a hurry once again. Called back at 11:15 to ask if I could come get the truck, he says no, he ordered the part and it hasn't even showed up yet. I remind him again of the original timeline and ask to please hurry as fast as possible. I call again at 12:30, ask the status. He tells me 10 minutes and they will be done that he'll call me right as soon as it's good to go. 1:00 call back, now I'm seriously getting upset. Tell him I'm coming over right now I need to take my truck and leave. I get told the mechanic is out test driving it and will be back in 10-15 minutes. I show up at 1:30 and the truck still is not back. 2:00, 3 hours past the original timeline my truck is ready to go. Get the bill and its $630.00. Learn from my HORRIBLE mistake and stay away from this place, the service is absolutely awful, they are not in any way shape or form accommodating to a paying customer. read more

I broke down on my way home to California and had to be towed to Evans, I knew nothing about them other than they were AAA aproved and NAPA also. My troubles seemed to be an intermitent electrical problem which I know to be very dificult to diagnose, added to the fact that it is a VW Westfalia which are not the easiest to understand. I have to comment that a garage I stopped at in Idahoe Falls completely took me foir a ride (untill I broke down again lol) they saw they only had a one time opportunity to take my money and they did, not so Evans these guys busted there tails to get me back on my way home and no way they charged me for all the hours and people that where involved in getting me back up and running. It turned out to be a faulty relay which they had to get from New Jersey.; Anyway, a big thanks to the guys at Evans. As I cannot reward them with my future business living in California I am writing this review in the hope that it leads to more business from locals and other stranded travellers. They deserve to be rewarded for there hard work,honesty and service. If I ever do pass through SLC again I shall at least try and time it so I can say Hi and get my oil changed. read more
