The pool section is my personal favourite aspect of this YMCA. Jeremy the Aquatics Director and the Head Life Gaurd Kevin are true professionals and a general pleasure to work with. Overall, a very solid experience. The gym was clean and well cared for, the locker room was in good shape, and the showers were better than what I have experienced at a lot of gyms over the years; strong water pressure and consistent temperature, which is not something I take for granted. The staff really stood out. Friendly, approachable, and genuinely funny in a way that makes the place feel relaxed rather than corporate. At one point I was trying a piece of equipment I do not normally use and heard a dreaded "thunk." For a moment, I worried the infamous Lunk alarm would sound! I flagged down a staff member, who watched me for a moment, reassured me that my form was fine, joked that he hears the same thing at his own gym, and said he would make sure the machine got lubricated. Low-key, helpful, and exactly how that situation should be handled. My only frustration is less about this specific club and more about Planet Fitness as a brand. If you follow a structured routine and are used to certain machines, it can be frustrating to discover mid-workout that a specific piece of equipment simply is not available at a particular location. You end up wandering the floor trying to confirm whether it is missing or just hidden somewhere. I do not blame the franchisee; space is limited and equipment choices are real business decisions. But given how much Planet Fitness already leans into technology, it feels like a missed opportunity. A simple, up-to-date inventory of machines by location, accessible in the app or via QR code, would make life much easier for members who move between clubs. Despite that quibble, this was a strong visit, and I would absolutely work out here again when I am in the area.

I am in very definite muscle pain today…read more I went to Muay Thai cardio at Maxx gym. It is unlike any workout I have ever experienced. Warm up: 8 minutes of jump rope interwoven with stretching. Sounds easy, so far? Try it. He then lines you up and shows you 8 different stations which you will do in sequence. Medicine ball squats, switch kicking, focus pad punching. ladder jumping and light sparring You probably think you can do this w/p90x or Taebo. Maxx has 7 instructors and you are actually punching and kicking targets, not air. You receive a great workout and you learn proper technique You finish with 5 minutes of sit ups.....I really like this place. Mike is a very serious instructor and probably the best I have experienced. He does allow music to be played in the backround One small word of caution: He doesnt tolerate swearing. To make matters even worse MY ELECTRIC BIKE WAS STOLEN right outside the gym, No one has checked the cameras or even got back tome right after it happened. It was a $400-600 dollar bike that I used to get to the gym and train station. And still no word on the bike or them looking at the cameras. You can't even get a in touch with the gym. Down stairs they have 2 full rings, 8-10 heavy bags, 6-8 speed bags, 5 or…read more6 double end bags, an uppercut bag, weights, jump ropes, treadmills, and pretty much everything else you would need for an intense boxing workout. Upstairs they have a full octagon, some wrestling mats, and some speed bags. Needless to say, that is where most of the mixed martial arts training happens. Additionally, there are lockers and shower (one in each bathroom) on site. They run classes everyday for all ages. You get a good mix of people here with men and women ranging in age from 12 - 60+ of varying abilities. There is sparring if you are interested and a number of pros workout here, most notably Joe Lauzon. It doesn't really have the traditional sweat stench of a boxing gym which I am completely fine with.
