They almost got me with the old DOUBLE DIAGNOSTIC rip off. That's the move they do when you don't agree to all the crazy work they say you need. But good news, you can fight if it ever happens to you. At Evans Motorworks, I received the poorest auto repair service experience ever in my life. It's a joke. I made an appointment for a Friday for a diagnostic for two issues with my BMW. I was quoted $165 + tax for BOTH issues. I was specifically told a diagnostic for everything would come out to $165 + tax. I drop it off in the morning at 8:30AM. It's now 4PM and they still haven't looked at. It's now 6PM... and they still haven't looked at it. Now they need it over the weekend. I call Saturday to check in and Bill, their service manager, hangs up on me repeatedly after specifically telling me to call him on Saturday. Often after waiting for fifteen minutes. So now it's an entire weekend with no car. At this point I realize I've made a big mistake coming to this place. I check the Yelp reviews and indeed, tons of one star reviews. I call on Monday. Same thing, it's now 4PM and the car still hasn't been worked on. At this point I was DONE. Just give me the car. At 4:30PM I'm sent a RIDICULOUS digital estimate of $6678.64 worth of work. Most of which has nothing to do with the TWO things I needed checked out. I decline ALL of the work and the total comes out to $212.48. That's fine. I'll pay it. Just give me my car so I can go to a professional operation. I very smartly, screenshot this digital estimate. Because... guess what, on Tuesday morning I show up to get the car and NOW the invoice on their computer has been MAGICALLY updated to $394.06. The ol' double diagnostic one-two. I immediately whip out my screenshot as I was afraid something like this would happen and guess what... they don't care. It's now a "computer mistake" that I wasn't charged TWO diagnostics for TWO different issues. It's of no importance that their agreed upon final invoice they send me was had a different price! Who does this!? Who gets away with this? So I tangle it up with Brooke, their service rep. Suddenly another mechanic "appears" and just hangs out, as if he's some kind of security guard or something. And I'm basically told, "you're not getting you car unless you pay the $394.06." Oh... okay. As if you two are the final end-all word on financial transactions. Fine, just give me the car. I'll deal with this with my credit card company. So I pay, get the car, and immediately dispute the credit card charge. I get the paperwork request from the credit card company. I write up the whole thing with all the screenshots and explanation. Just for the principle of not being taken advantage of. And... my credit card company rejects it. Award in the mechanic's favor! I call the credit card company, go over the entire story again, learn that the mechanic didn't even submit paper work, and then also learn that you can do a "partial dispute." I mistakenly disputed the whole thing which is why the credit company rejected it. When really, I was fine with (and should) be paying the $212.48 because they did do a diagnostic (albeit one that took four days). So I resubmit the paperwork and a new dispute and... award in my favor! So thanks a lot Evans Motorworks for a big waste of time and headache. Your bait and switch tactics don't work on everyone. The degree to which this establishment was unwilling to budge on this overcharge when I had a SCREENSHOT of the actual correct invoice was just crazy to me. Makes me shudder to think what they've done to other customers. And just to think... I'm in the market for a brand new X7 for my wife. Unfortunately Evans customer service has declined over the past several years. In the last few years every time I made an appointment for an oil change after waiting for hours it turned out they would find something else that needed done. In September of 2024 which was supposed to be an oil change only turned out to be the worst nightmare ever. Evans motor works said BMW recommends break fluid flushed, after three hours and $483 later a tire pressure sensor light started flashing. I called again got an appointment, waited two hours supposedly they programmed it. As soon as I drove off it turned on again, made another appointment several weeks later. I was told they will have to do the diagnosis for $199, I told them I already had the diagnosis the batteries needed replaced but they insisted that they will have to do the diagnosis again. Two hours later they said your batteries are low in the sensors but we don't replace the batteries we have to replace the sensors and it will be $1250, but if I replace my all 4 tires it will save me $189 which will be deducted from $3100.68. Although I didn't need new tires at the time I trusted them and got everything they recommended and hoped I won't see them until next year the bill was $3100.31. I was confused that the $50 coupon and $189 they mentioned were not deducted they said it was the labor that was not added previously to the estimate. Three weeks later my washer fluid went out which was surprising because I was out of the country for two weeks and my car was parked and not driven. Instead of calling them back I filled the washer fluid which was out in a few days again. I called back and of course they said they will do the diagnosis for $199! At this point the salesman stepped in and recommended that I should look at new cars because my car is getting old. I didn't think 55,000 miles was too much for a BMW that was bought not used nor certified but brand new from them!! Well ma'am your car is getting old and that's why it needs all these repairs! After a few more weeks my dashboard turned red saying brake malfunction STOP CAREFULLY do not drive. I called the service manager and they said they will keep the car and put me in a loaner car. At this point I was panicking and thinking maybe my car is falling apart and I guess I do need a new car. I sent pictures of my dashboard to Jamy who said not to worry "we will take care of the car." 24 hours later I called to see if my car was ready and Jamy said it was ready and brake system is fine and it was a computer glitch that was reprogrammed by Jacob the technician. They dropped off the car at my work and took the loaner back on February 11th 2025. Twenty minutes later I get the text from the salesman that they have the New 2025 BMW I was looking for. I told him I needed my car fixed I just don't need a new car right now. After work when I started my car and drove less than half a mile my dashboard turned red again saying brake malfunction STOP CAREFULLY do not drive! I pulled over and called Jamy again who very calmly said "it's fine it takes a while after reprogramming it. If you feel we need to look at it I will call you first thing in the morning at 8 am." I called Voss BMW they said please don't drive the car and get it towed to us!! Obviously I was NEVER going to take my car back to Evans anymore. After getting it diagnosed and checked I found out that unfortunately Evans BMW had left the brake valve open when they did the brake fluid flush and the brake fluid was literally spraying every time I hit the brakes. I was told if I hadn't brought the car in I would have been in a car accident and no one would have found out. I have left voicemail messages and sent texts to the managers to let them know about the whole situation with absolutely no response back. I also unfortunately had bought the three year oil change package that they need to refund for the next two years but no one is responding back. This is the first time in my life that I have ever written a review because my friends and coworkers insisted that people need to know because lord only knows how many other women they are doing this to!! read more

Made an appointment to have windshield looked at. Arrived for my scheduled appointment 30 minutes early and learned that no one repairs windshields at this location. Zac the service guy was not very helpful and could only offer up an apology for why their computer system is unable to verify why a person is coming in for service. I advised that I placed notes in the service request and Zak stated his computer system can't see any of this. Very disappointed in Volkswagen. The customer service is not good at this location or any of the other three I have visited over the past 6 months. Used to own a Honda and I can honestly say that they have the best customer service. Common courtesy of calling an individual to let them know that they could not accommodate my request is all I needed. Everything was good until Jeff, Ann and Orlando all ghosted me as soon as they received payment from my financing company. This outfit claims to do online sales, but they are better at making sure they receive their money and are awful in ensuring the customer receives their car. I had to fly up to get it instead of the delivery as they promised. Jeff is the GM and he is literally an empty suit. No where to be found, no voice mail recordings or return calls to me after I left nasty messages from me (no swearing or name calling other than calling Jeff a "bad man"). You would think that if a customer left an irate message, the GM would make at least an obligatory return call or email saying he was looking into it. Nothing. I don't think Jeff exists. Ann does exist. When I showed up, she was appropriate and efficient. Not sure why she felt the need to not answer my calls. The last I heard from Ann was some weird story about the Russians and Hispanics take varying days to celebrate Christmas. That was odd. Afterwards, she never returned my calls. I actually think Ann is Jeff. She seems to do everything. Orlando was my sales rep who was good until I asked the status of the delivery of my car. Orlando had originally stated that my car was scheduled for pickup by transport this past Tuesday. When that didn't happen, Orlando ghosted me. Never heard back. Maybe Ann is Orlando, too. Orlando was on a vacation in South Carolina when I was there, so I never saw him. Then there was a young gentleman named Jonathan. He is listed as the "BMW genius". This is a good title for him. He was a straight up person who showed me the "how to" on the car. Good stuff. Thanks to him. read more

When she returned to Motorworks to purchase her sixth Volvo she was met with 1950s style service - but not the quaint mom & pop shop kind. The salesman kicked off the experience by snubbing many of her questions and acting generally disinterested. Then he left her in his office to "check on something" and didn't return. After 20 minutes of sitting and wondering where the salesman went, my mom walked out to the showroom to find him showing a young couple a car. Astonished and frustrated, she let him know she was leaving. Later he rounded out his customer service approach with a passive-aggressive note telling my mom "sorry you got upset" and "we can find someone else for you to work with". I called back and they said did you receive a hang up call from us? Of course I did! (). Is there a recall?? They responded: Well our general manager called you because you own a car that we need in our inventory ASAP. The offered me LESS than the Autotrader Instant offer and told me the car was basically immaculate and it was a very high offer. The other detail about this is that neither of the people I talked to knew anything about the email or call I got from the general manager Jeff Anderson to help tornado victims. THIS IS A SCAM!!!! Is Ron Burdge still around? Preying on the public and claiming to help the victims of the recent tornado is the same as looting. Evans Motorworks May as well go loot houses down the street. UPDATE: Just sold my car to Carvana for close to $3,000 more than Evans Motorworks was offering. If I could give Evans less than one star, I would. My husband purchased a BMW from Carmax, and Evans has had to do some work on the car. This issue started almost seven months ago. Back in April, Evans screwed up a oil leak repair and missed plugging a sensor in. They had the car until almost May. The tech missed that he crimped a hose, so we add almost another month to the repair. He finally got his car back at the end of september, so five months we haven't had his car, but we've been making car payments. Everyone joked he wouldn't be able to keep it out of repair for a week. They were wrong, he had it for three weeks and the check oil light came on again. Evans had it again another almost month. While they had the engine torn apart for the THIRD time, they found a coolant leak. How did they not find it the other times they had the car? THE MONTHS they've had the car. They said it was because they could only find it if the engine was warm. Thoroughness isn't something they do, apparently, and they're not willing to even comp the part needed to fix the problem, which you'd think they'd try to do something to reimburse for the seven months they've had the car. Rude and dismissive staff: Scheduled an appointment for today with Faith. She confirmed the appointment this morning, which was supposed to include a test drive of a model she claimed was in stock. When I arrived, I was told that Faith was actually too busy to see me. I had to explain the purpose of my visit to the BMW rep who did help me, but was told that there weren't any models in stock for a test drive. He did not offer to reschedule my visit or explain why Faith didn't notify me of the out-of-stock model that I was interested in. Also, he didn't even shake my hand. I purchased a BMW 528 from salesman Mr. Theodore Dorion. He gave us two key for the car. One of the key is not work, we thought it was out at battery at first. NO! it not even belongs to 5 series car, it belongs to 3 series car. We didn't find out right away because only my husband drives the car. We not live in Dayton, so, I call Mr. Theodore Dorion, He said he will call me back, but he didn't. I call his cell, office, text him and left msg. He never response. I called his manager Mr. Carl McCleese, he said he doesn't know what to do since we not live in Dayton. I suggest he can call my local BMW dealer to work that way. He said he will ask the owner. So I'm from Florida and after the covid pandemic I was forced to purchase a car out of state. My point of contact with Evans Motorworks was Kassie who was an absolute pleasure to work with. I recently totaled my car and in waiting for my insurance valuation and payment to finalize, Kassie kept me updated along the way. They were not persistent and nagging like ALMOST ALL OTHER dealers I've been dealing with. Their competitive price was by far the best I was finding for a Volvo S90 I was interested in which Kassie even willing to work with me to get into my budget further and get the vehicle to me in Florida...even offered to help coordinate travel arrangements so I can fly in and they would pick me up and take care of the rest so I can see the car in person and finalize same day and drive down with the car. I have their site bookmarked and really value the level of customer service that Kassie showed and would love to finalize a vehicle with them since the current vehicle I wanted ended up getting sold! Wish more representatives at dealers were more like Kassie and if she's reading this then I hope she can see how easy, helpful, and efficient she went out of her way to make this process for me considering the hesitation and doubt I already had in purchasing a car out of state completely online. The staff is incompetent; the service is questionable, and the customer care is non-existent. I purchased my car from Evans in 2013. I faithfully brought it in for service and repairs, despite the fact that the frequent employee turnover made establishing a relationship with anyone very difficult. This last December was the final straw for me. They told me I would have to pay a $129 fee to have someone look at the car, but it would be waived if I agreed to the diagnosed work. After having the problem diagnosed, I was told there was a second $129 fee for the dead battery. I knew the battery was dead when I had it towed in. They hooked it up to a volt meter and then told me I had a choice: pay over $300 for them to replace the battery, or pay the $129. Completely coercive business practice. Doing business with this company has been the WORST experience of my life. I have never had a dealership make me return not once but twice because they "forgot" to have me sign another paper. Which one was my gap insurance. If i would have been in an accident i would have been screwed! When I went back the first time the finance guy goes, "oh you'll have to resign these papers, I forgot to mark that your car was a rental" Are you kidding me?!? I was NEVER disclosed that information! And yes, I did ask not once but twice for the carfax (which they refused to give me) and when I asked why they were trying to get rid of it, the sales rep made this big long excuse about how they've had it too long. There was NOTHING said about it being a rental until I signed all the papers and had it for four days! I just bought the carfax because I'm so frustrated with the entire situation, and I found that the car has been in not one but TWO WRECKS! NO WONDER THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE CARFAX!! Apparently I'm too trusting of a person, in which they screwed me over royally. I purchased a 2013 Chevy Malibu from them in March of 2015. The experience was ok but after a about a week i notice i didn't have any car mats. I called rhe dealership and was told I would have to buy my own. I was told car mats were for the customers who purchase new cars not used one's. I was upset and could not understand why the man on the phone had such a nasty attitude. Six months later I needed a copy of my warranty info the man who sold me the car is now a supervisor he told me to come to the dealership to pick it up. Worst experience ever! They lied to me from the beginning to the end of my experience. I looked a car that had just been traded in and was listed for sale. I could only start it since it had t been serviced yet. It was a beautiful BMW. I saw the car on Friday 9/28 and was told by Zach Finnegan it would go through service and be ready for me by Monday. On Monday I was advised it was through service but there were two recalls that needed to be repaired . Then, Zach told me he noticed a brake light was out and back into service it went. I waited all day Tuesday for it to be repaired and drove to the dealership since I'd been advised by the internet rep it had been sold. I was told by Zach that was a mistake and it would be ready soon. On Wednesday I contacted the GM but didn't hear back. I also spoke to Ann at the dealership and told her the whole story and she told me the car was auctioned on 9/29. She was going to call me back and didn't. These people are liars and have very deceptive practices. The fact that Zach Finnegan would continue to lie to me about the car is unforgivable and is malicious harassment ! Last year I wrote a glowing review for Ann Conrad and Zach Finnegan when I purchased a 2019 BMW X3 from Evans BMW. At that time, Ann and Zach did a good job communicating while working to move me out of an Inifiniti lease and into a BMW. Based upon my initial experience, I thought I would be working with them on future vehicles and driving BMWs for the foreseeable future. HOWEVER, THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE due to the lack of professionalism showed by Zach and Ann and their sporadic and non-existent communication. For example, on 8/15 I reached out to Zach about switching vehicles. Zac responded quickly and said he would talk with Ann and that he would get back to me. A week went by with no response so, I contacted him again. Once again he replied quickly but, another six days passed without any communication and I had to reach out to him yet again. it wasn't until the end of August before he started communicating in a timely manner. We went back and forth on potential vehicles over the next few weeks but were unable to agree on terms and vehicles. On 9/21, I sent Zach another e-mail to which he never responded. I tried reaching out to Zach after the soccer season on 11/5 to which he still didn't reply. Finally, in one last attempt to talk with Zach and Ann about trading in my X3 for an X1, I e-mailed both of them on 12/11 to which neither of them ever responded. To make matters even worse, I took my X3 into the dealership on 12/17 for service. As I was sitting in the new car lounge area for an hour and a half waiting on my vehicle, Zach and Ann passed me numerous times and neither of them reached out to me about trading in my vehicle and purchasing or leasing another vehicle. While Zach said hi in passing, Ann didn't say a word to me even though she walked past me numerous times. Based upon all of these facts, I am no longer recommending BMW of Dayton. From my point of view, they only care about the initial sale of a vehicle and don't make a concerted effort to ensure customer retention. The sporadic and untimely communication demonstrates a lack of professionalism. Finally, the fact that they didn't follow up with me for five weeks and then again for another for weeks shows they are n't focused on customer retention which supports the adjusted rating. read more

I decided to go shopping for my first BMW vehicle recently and went to the closest dealer I could find. About a 45 minute drive south for me is where I find Evans Motorworks. I entered the lot and walked inside. I was met by several employees who seemed genuinely friendly. Lou Cousineau is the salesman I worked with. I explained to Lou that I was looking for a certified pre owned BMW 3 series car. He took me straight to the certified pre owned section, and showed me several vehicles that met the criteria of what I was looking for. I test drove a couple vehicles and ended up choosing one that I liked very much. Lou and all the other staff I have spoke with at Evans were professional and not pushy. I never felt as though I was being pressured to leave with a car. Lou also never tried to sell me on something I didn't want, or try to get me into a new vehicle. They of course wanted to make a sale so there will be some salesmanship, obviously. I ended up with what I felt was a good deal on the car and a fair trade in price for my old vehicle. I signed a few forms and took the car home that night. The next day I came back to finish signing bank paperwork. I have only purchased a couple cars from dealerships but can say overall I had a pleasant experience. I had a great experience buying a 2013 Volvo S60 with Jim Hilt. He was very patient with me while I decided whether I wanted to buy a car before winter or not. Prior to looking at the car I bought, I told Jim that I believed their price was higher than reports I found and comparable cars in the area. He encouraged me to still look at the car and we would discuss price. The price discussions were very pleasant, professional, and most importantly logical! We talked about other options in the area looking at where they are priced vs mileage, and reports from NADA, and KBB. Overall a great experience with a laid back, comfortable atmosphere. read more

I recently purchased my first BMW (535i X drive) and was fortunate to work with Casey Mousa. He was very informed (positives and negatives) about the vehicles he was selling. I found that refreshing. At other dealerships I visited, I knew more about the vehicle than the sales executive. Casey was willing to work with me on a great deal. At no time did I feel pressured to buy the vehicle or other add-ons. Once the vehicle was sold, he had great follow-up and making sure I was informed when the vehicle would be ready. After the way the service department has treated us, I'm glad we bought our cars in Fairfield. Had to be towed there when my 6 month old new Passat TDI wouldn't start. They told me the diesel had froze and that it wasn't covered under warranty because there was water in the fuel. THEN when the lab results from the fuel sample came back that the fuel was fine, they changed their story and said it was summer blend instead of winter (again, results said was fine) and STILL charged me $220 to drain it! When I went to pick up my car that had 3/4 of a tank when I left, it showed low fuel and 10 miles until empty. The service manager actually said to me "We put enough fuel back in it just to start it and get you to a gas station." Are you kidding me? They also "opted out" of the VW customer care package as a dealership so they don't have to service our vehicles at the 20k mile oil change for free. When we took BOTH our cars there at our 10k oil change, they forget the AdBlue to not one, but both vehicles. When we went back on a Saturday to get it taken care of, they charged us for it and we had to put it in ourselves, even though it is supposed to be done with the service. This place is TERRIBLE. We will never ever go back and I strongly urge others to stay clear as well. read more
