I called in an order today at 5:47 PM for two baked potatoes. I was informed they were currently out but would be ready around 7:00 PM. I agreed and placed the order, as I was driving in from Fort Worth after work. When I arrived at 7:00 PM to pick up my order, I was told it would be about five more minutes. I waited an additional 20 minutes before going back inside to check on my food, only to be told that it was still not ready. At that point, the employee assisting me was very nonchalant and did not seem concerned about the delay or my time. The lack of communication, urgency, and customer service was disappointing. I understand delays can happen, but the experience could have been handled much better with clearer updates and a more professional attitude read more

Well stopped by but first I tried to call just to make sure that they had catfish because last Friday they did have catfish but they do not answer the phone so we ordered catfish combo with shrimps and slaw , the service is ok I feel like the workers should cover their hair with a net, as we were waiting for our order a lady worker walked in went behind the counter to help out with her hair not combed at all and again all over her head without a net, so my food was ready so I left and decided to to check my food in the car and so glad I did we didn't have no shrimps inside the container so had to go back in to have my order completed the shrimps and fish were so small , I just feel like service and quality of food has gone down hill. The flavoring is everything!!! My company ordered catering from this establishment, for an employees appreciation lunch. We were scheduled to pick our order up at 1pm , but sadly our food wasn't ready until after 2pm. We ordered: potato salad, baked beans, brisket, barbecue pork ribs, And one customized item (fully loaded baked potato). The food was fresh , hot and nicely put together. The issue was the texture of the food .. Not including the side dishes, but more so referring to the prepared meats (beef brisket and pork ribs ). The meats were extremely tough and hard to eat / digest. I actually took a little of the food home and recooked some of the items in my oven. The ribs were still a little tough / rough after recooking them. The fully loaded potatoes is probably the highlight of this review . The fully loaded potato was loaded with so much food and goodness that i couldn't find the baked potato. And I wouldn't be surprised if that potato was sent to actually feed the entire meeting. Only I took that fully loaded potato home to eat alone lol. I'm likely to revisit this place , because the food was good but just a little tough . read more

I should have went with my first mind and went to Mothers Basket, I wanted the pork chop basket so bad I came here which was closer. My food stayed under the heat lamp for 20 mins, deviate my ticket number didn't match and the lady that took my order went to the bathroom (for 20 minutes) but my name was on the ticket and they got said he had to wait until the lady came back to the front that took my order, then I asked for my money back! I returned after a 5 month hiatus and should have stayed away . I ordered a slice of sweet potato pie by phone , cashier she had TWO left. I bought them, the charge was $7.47 ! If you put the 2 slices pictured TOGETHER, it would be their normal slice , BUT Mrs.Johnnie and Mr. Joe retired and has turned the business over to their daughter/stepdaughter, and it's has been a very disappointing transition since their takeover 9 months ago . I bought a rib sandwich, and it's NOT the same at all . Many of the popular items are no longer offered ! The ribs were tough and the seasoning was not the "original" seasoning that got me hooked. Not sure when the recipe changed but I was disappointed with my order. I highly recommend coming to this place if you are in the area. I was able to get Ribs and 2 sides with toast for about $11. The ribs are wonderful (very tender and do not need sauce). The Mac n Cheese with beef tasted like hamburger helper and I mean that in a good way. The Cajun rice was enjoyable. I did not have any problems with customer service. I do recommend getting the order to go. The place looks cramped and old on the inside. One of the bathrooms was not working. I also came early so they did not any peach cobbler ready. read more

I've never been disappointed with any purchase I've made since it opened and that's been over ten years!

I have no idea why I haven't stopped in here until today. I've driven by this joint enumerable times and didn't really give it a second thought. The other day after my less than stellar BBQ from Junior's I decided to try Evans. Am I flipping happy I did! I'll upload the picture I took that said to me "This is going to be good, son!" I ordered the two meat plate, ribs and sausage, I bravely ordered even though I knew it was possible to get more Ekrich... This is NOT ekrichy in the least. I don't know if its homemade but it's a brand that I couldn't immediately spot and that's a good thing. It has a good smoky flavor, some peppers and black pepper ground up in it and it was good by itself. It worked well in the BBQ sauce as well, which itself was a lightly sweet, mild heat chunky sauce (onions). A little sweeter than I typically prefer but it worked so I kept using it. For side dishes I got the macaroni salad and beans (read chili). Both were good, however the beans weren't what I was expecting as in reality; they aren't beans, its chili w/beans. No biggie, just because I expected traditional pintos doesn't mean that it will be. They had a wide variety so I'll try another pair next time (and there will be a next). Ribs... sweet, salty, crispy, moist, well-rendered fat and a deep smoke-ring penetration and rich flavor. These were very good, again I'm not a fan of sweet but this worked very well. Very very well. These were lipsmacking good. I found myself rationing out the ribs to prolong how long I got to eat them. All the folks inside were very friendly, this place at a cursory glance is "immaculately" clean. Its pretty spacious too and looks like it'd be a comfortable place to eat in at as well. So sorry Evans, I truly and deeply regret not finding you sooner. I will return and the tasty factor may keep me from going anywhere but Randy's and Evans! read more

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE I went to Evans BBQ on a Saturday at 3:30p.m. with no customers inside. I stopped and walked inside. There were at least three employees behind the counter/employee area. One person took a phone call, one looked and said nothing, the other at least spoke. I stood there for at least five minutes and walked out without ever being helped. The one employee got off the phone and went to the back to speak with someone else regarding his phone call. I try to support BOB, but they make it hard to spend my money where I'm not acknowledged or served. Plus, what respectable BBQ place is out of ribs 4 to 5 hours before closing. The catfish was perfectly crispy and delicious with chunky homemade tartar sauce, and the ribs were yummy with or without the homemade bbq sauce. The unique Mac & beef & cheese was unforgettably scrumptious. Fried okra and seasoned green beans were on point. Service was friendly and efficient. Ordered a fried fish and shrimp combo (2 pc fish/ 4 pc shrimp). Waited 30 minutes and they werent even busy!! Got the food and left irritated since I was going to be late to a meeting due to the order taking so long. Food was disappointing. Fries were soggy, catfish piecese were small and very thin, and the shrimp was a joke! Shrimp was rubbery, flavorless, and not even fully coating in whatever cornmeal mix they use.
