I don't like to do negative reviews but I have to tell the truth. We are visiting Dallas again and we got in town late. We like to eat local whenever possible and thought fish and shrimp would be a good light dinner so we found Krab Kingz and read the reviews. Most of the negative comments were about how long it took, so we prepared for that. Hubby tore into it before I could take a picture. We ordered a fish and shrimp combo online with no problem. I received an email saying it would be ready in 30 minutes so we arrived right on time, expecting a delay. When we arrived it was hot and ready. Now there are several large signs that say Check Your Food Before You Leave. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was kind of crowded and dark in the restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but I opened the bag, saw fried fish and fries, and figured the shrimp were under them. Nope, I was wrong. They forgot the fish. It was too late to go back since they were closing by the time we noticed. So if you go CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RESTAURANT! I'd advise you use your phone flash light (afterthought). The fish was fried hard, just like I like it but I couldn't taste seasoning. It also tasted "fishy" to me and that is when I realized that I didn't know what kind of fish it was! The fries and corn were good and they give you condiments and napkins. I asked the woman who was performing my appointment if she's been there before and she said that she does like their food. I place an order online and shortly went to pick it up. The establishment was, well kept and the service was nice even though it was a short interaction. It comes with a sausage (nice smoked flavor), 1hard boiled egg (never seen that with seafood before), potatoes (mmm good), and corn that was surprisingly tender and sweet being that it was January. My son got two 6 oz lobster tails that looked bigger than 6 oz and cooked perfectly. If it's your 1st time here, you order at the front, and they will bring your food to you at your table. She replied that another staff member would get back with me. It took her about 3 minutes to come from the back from asking the kitchen about the order. She was very nice and said that they dropped the ticket and needed to print out another one. So we had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes. So when the good finally comes out it was wrong. They left some food off and the fish that was served was super small. You would think that they would offer more than just an apology for a mistake that happened on their end. I think I've been here a total of probably like seven times either ordered online and picked up or I came to sit inside, but they are always consistent with the seafood boils. I love them and I prefer to eat the pasta inside while dining in pose to ordering take out. it taste better when you dine in. I love all the butter sauces that they put on top of the shrimp and seafood boils. Minimal noise ,Always clean. All the employees are nice! And competent, great service. they open at 1 PM on Sundays . I would suggest downloading in the Clover app so you can gain points and gain up enough points to get $10 off your next meal. A friend has been bragging about this establishment for a while now. With it being Crawfish season , I've been making it a priority to try as many places offering live /fresh crawfish. Recently learning that I prefer my crawfish dry seasoned instead of in sauce , they place came highly recommended. It was a Friday so i already felt it would be in my best interest to order online / In advance. I placed my Order at 7:34pm , but with having to make a few stops before and in between , I did not make it to the restaurant until after 8:35pm . Arrived, business was booming. Many were in line waiting to order and picking up orders. The friend who highly recommend this spot happen to be there with her family enjoying hookah and drinks. After chit chatting with her for over 15 mins , my order STILL wasn't ready. It was a weekend so they had orders coming in heavy , which being in the food industry I understood and tried to remained patient. It's a lounge; so there was groups of people there enjoying hookah , having drinks and doing a little dancing . Music was respectful, not too loud either. The crowd in there outside of those coming to pick up or place orders seemed like a mature crowd. Seemed to be a nice little spot to hang out and eat. The staff were friendly , and did well with trying to regulate the environment with orders coming from every direction. With my friend being a regular she was able to expedite my order , which was highly appreciated because it had close to an hour and half , after being told that my order would be ready for pick up 15 mins after it was placed. Now let's discuss the food.. Portions are decent for the prices . Says $7.99/ lbs for crawfish online but I was charged $8.99 / lbs , no biggie !! What's a $1 difference ?? I ordered 2lbs of crawfish , and the 1 turkey neck plate which consist of 1 turkey neck, corn, smoked sausage and potatoes . I ordered it in Cajun seasoning and I added 2 boiled eggs. The Turkey neck was tender and pretty meaty. The corn was really sweet and paired Well with the Cajun seasoning, the smoked sausage was tasty and juicy. Wish I would have ordered extra sausages. The potatoes were nice and tender and pair so well with the butter sauce. Now let's discuss the purpose of the visit, the Crawfish !!!! If I were to rate it , I said it was a 4/10 . They give plenty , but they were kind of on the smaller size so I'm sure more was given to compensate the 2lbs that I ordered. Mine were a little mushy, possibly due to being overcooked. The tail meat kept breaking , making it hard to enjoy. Flavor / seasoning was decent, but way too salty for my preference . After squeezing a ton of lemons and limes on top of them and also Needing a squeeze of lime/ lemon per every head suck, they became more enjoyable. How likely am I to return or recommend. I'd say I'd highly recommend and plan to return. The potential is there. The environment looks fun and relaxed And my food wasn't horrible just needed a little adjustments. I ordered this meal online because it was my birthday and didn't want to go out to eat. The food was tasty; however, I ordered the crab tray added corn and potatoes to go along. I also ordered a side of fried shrimp with 1 catfish filet and received an order of 6 wings free with a $50 order. Now this is where the problems come in. The food smelled so good when it arrived. I paid extra for quick delivery. I received 2 small snow crab legs which both were missing legs and one was even missing the leg with the claw. The crab legs were puny. I'm sure if they were weighed they would barely weigh a 1/2 pound. I was very disappointed. The fish filet and the chicken wings were both slightly undercooked. The flavoring was good along with the corn and potatoes. I received a sausage and a boiled egg which I did not ask for. I asked for fried shrimp and got boiled shrimp. I've always wanted to visit a Krab Kingz with so many located throughout the DFW metroplex. A newfound friend treated me to his favorite "fast food" place. I called in our order from the car while traveling down the tollway and sure enough, it was ready within 30 minutes. The young Lady called me back on my cellphone to let me know my order was ready and read my order back to me making sure the portion size was correct, and the heat intensity was correct (she knows her clientele)! I ordered a shrimp and fish poboy. I've lived in New Orleans, and I've had plenty of poboys in New Orleans and I have never seen a poboy without lettuce and tomatoes. That's the first thing. The 2nd thing was the taste. It tasted like it had been fried in old oil. The best thing about the meal was the hushpuppies. My husband got the crab platter. The claws were scrawny, and they give you a whole bag of potatoes. They don't give you a little container of butter. The Cajun is not really Cajun. This review is in regards to placing an order through the Uber App. I try to give small businesses more than one chance. In the past I have had issues with missing items or food being unavailable after I purchased. Recovering from being sick I didn't want to leave the house and was craving fried catfish. This review has to do with the inflated prices on Uber eats. The fish and shrimp platter is $19.99 on their regular menu, but a whopping $10 dollars more at $29.99 when you order on the UberEats app. Keep in mind, this is before delivery and fees. That is ridiculous. I could understand raising prices overall (dining at the restaurant or delivery) to offset "fees", but $10 is ridiculous. My family and I were in the area and decided to try this establishment based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! For my meal I got the shrimp and catfish basket and an order of calamari. The calamari doesn't come with a sauce, so I was a bit skeptical at first but still wanted to try it. It. Was. Delicious! The calamari rings were thick and the batter was thick enough to provide a tasty coating, but not too thick to where it took away from the actual calamari. The catfish and shrimp also were amazing. They were both seasoned to perfection and I simple had zero complaints. We also ordered the chicken wing appetizer. These are yummy but it's important to note that the breading itself has a small kick to it. Lastly we had the caramel cake and strawberry cake for dessert. The caramel cake was a bit thick for my liking, but it was yummy and everyone at the table liked it. My sister liked it enough to grab another piece to take home! Called there number for 10 minutes to place a togo order;No one ever answers. Bad start. So I thinking they are really busy /no worries. Go online to placed my order for the #6 small shrimp tray and extra corn.This is when I started to become "weary"with this restaurant. Upon placing my order for the small shrimp tray/ extra corn; You have to pay extra for extra dipping sauce (butter,lemon pepper,Cajun etc.) Regardless if you want the sauce or NOT. It won't let you place an order unless you pay for extra dipping sauce regardless if you want it or not. It 1.75$ to 3$ more added to your order. Absurd. So, I go head and order the dipping sauce. Secondly they charge you a 2.04 platform fee to place an online order. Customers should NOT have to pay extra to place online orders.The restaurant should cover this cost; especially when they don't answer the phone. After all that I think of going some where else but I am thinking the food going to be great. Let's give these folks a try. Got email saying the order will be ready at 7Pm. I get there at 7 pm and of course it's not ready at 7Pm . so my order is ready at 7:20. I watch the lady put my food in sack and open box slightly to check on the order.I am thinking great; She check to make sure everything was in there.She calls out my name and I get it from here and ask " Is my extra corn in there. Way too over priced for the food portions. I know we're in a crisis of inflation but my normal #3 Krab & Shrimp boil used to be $33, it is now $49. There was no increase to the amount of food, only price - YIKES!! The flavor was a bit lacking as well and I didn't care for my food to be soaked in a container of butter, which spilled in my car on my drive home. I think this establishment can use a bit more of customer service. It wasn't bad, but it was lackluster. I'm not sure I'll be back as there are other comparable locations with lower prices and same or better quality but I'm also not ready to take them complete off my list either.
