This place was awesome! Everyone who works here is super nice. From the front desk attendants who checked us in and checked us out to the folks who took our breakfast orders - everyone was super nice and seemed to really love working here. The place itself was cool. We got a patio with our room and exercise equipment inside the room. We used the patio for eating and getting ready so we wouldn't dirty the inside but definitely didn't work out at all. Its also located in a nice spot in brooklyn. Enough subway stations nearby and its super close to the city point food hall. Their breakfast is good and they have a 24 7 market with snacks which works out if youre feeling snackish and dont want to deal with how early a lot of bodegas close. I highly recommend this place for a new york visit. read more

The good things about this hotel are that it has a nice location: you can walk to a number of bars, restaurants, landmarks and the sub way is close. The staff are friendly and professional. The room is well soundproofed. I'm a light sleeper and did. Or hear any noise so that was a major plus. The things that need to be improved: the rooms and the common spaces feel tired and in need of updating/renovations. You do not get the feeling of comfort. The mattress was a little too soft for my liking. Overall, the room is of a decent size and not a bad place for the size. I came here for a music festival - Afro Punk to be specific. So the location was EXCELLENT. Check-in is was hella smoove The staff was ON POINT and nice and They even got me a room way before check in MAJOR POINTS The Staff WAS absolutely INCREDIBLE. Just so kind and nice and accommodating and helpful. Buuuuutttt.....the details of the place itself... eehhh... BIG OLE YIKLKKKEESSS My room was very clean on the surface. However... it smelled like mildew, my towels and sheets had small weird stains/rips on them, my carpet was dusty and dirty at second glance, and there were rips/holes in the automatic black-out curtains that didn't work at first (but were PROMPTLY fixed), the heater worked on and off, the sink didn't drain quickly, and the linoleum is spent; curling and everything. It was really disappointing. And I dreaded coming back to my room every day because of the smell that no one seemed to smell BUT me. hoooooooeverrr... honestly, if I had to stay in the area again, I'd try it.... and pray the smell was gone and ask for a vacuum cleaner and bring my own towels. Recently, I stayed here for a concert at the Barclay's Center, and it was incredibly convenient to the venue. It was about a 10 minute easy walk to get to the show, which was awesome. They also let us check in about a half hour early. Upon entering our king room, we did notice some crumbs on the desk. The rest of the room seemed very clean. The bathroom was super modern, and the bed was comfortable. Since it is in the middle of Brooklyn, you should expect to hear some honking and street noise, so if you're sensitive to that, be sure to bring ear plugs or sleep with white noise. Overall, it was super convenient and affordable for the day we stayed. I did notice their weekend rates are much higher. I didn't park or have breakfast there, so I can't comment on that. We had a fabulous stay in this hotel. Great location with good connections everywhere. Friendly staff who were able to resolve any issues we had. Wonderful atmosphere in the lobby , great place to work , play some games and chill. Small outside place behind the lobby, also great. Really clean and nice rooms. But what really was excellent was the gym - 2 floors of great equipment including peloton bikes! There was also some gym equipment in the rooms. We loved it! I stayed here 7/6-7/8 (Room 1100) and again on 7/28. (Room 1200) This is a fantastic hotel and great value for the money. Clean room, you don't hear street noise, key code safe in the room, nice shower/pressure, etc.. Both times they allowed me a late checkout +1 hour for no charge. I didn't use the amenities, but they had a nice workout room with Pelotons, and the room even had a couple of fitness things like foam rollers. I liked that you needed the room key to enter the front lobby at night, as well as to go in the elevator. Obviously this is not in a, 'bad,' part of BKNY, but it is still nice to know that only people with a room key can get up to the floors. The staff are fantastic. Their breakfast area "order taker" has serious ego issues. I made the mistake of reaching behind him for a napkin, and he totally verbally jumped my $hit. He told me that "napkins are over there!" I said "how would I know which are the napkins for me"? He told me "the rope is supposed to be up so that I won't reach beyond it." I said "what Rsope"? He said "the rope that's not up." I rarely do five stars but this hotel is so far pretty good. I haven't checked out yet. The hotel staff seem nice, seems clean. I did book through a third-party and I was pretty nervous about doing that and I was supposed to have two double beds which I don't But luckily my other guest did not show. I'm in a handicap room I am not handicap, so I'm not sure why I was put in this room but it's pretty roomy so I'm not sure what the other rooms are like. My sink was stopped up the first night but they fixed it the next day. The shower head nozzle is broke so I can't adjust it. I love the freshwater in the lobby with the mint Ginger and lemon ,lime. I did buy some snacks from the snack area and they have a good selection. It is walking distance to a lot of things which is nice. I recommend Mia's bakery and the blissful headspace spa. There is a subway close by. The Brooklyn botanical gardens are close by and that was nice. I recommend maybe going in the spring where more things might be blooming. The ironing board was a pretty small flimsy thing that didn't seem to stand up and the cover was very thin and cheap where the imprint of the board would end up on my clothes. read more

I recently stayed here for a few nights. It's understaffed so checking in took a while. There were two people to check in a line of people at check-in time. The reception was very nice and friendly. There was a security guard when you walk in. There is nowhere to put your luggage as the lobby is small when you walk in and there's a line, and there is nobody to help you with it either, so I had to put my stuff on the floor and look for a cart. Check-in was painless. The room was kind of weird. It had these exercise contraptions and an exercise ball. It had no dresser. Talking with other people I know that stayed there at that same time said the same thing. I wasn't impressed with the room On the day we were supposed to leave one of the elevators was broken. They have two. I was staying on the 10th floor. It took us over a half an hour to get the elevator and we just jammed ourselves in when it finally stopped and had a little tiny bit of room. It was not comfortable. I did have breakfast there one morning. They do have a self-serve area. They also have someone taking breakfast orders. It's not a restaurant though. It's more like a diner type order taking process. I brought it back to my room. I couldn't eat it. It was a breakfast sandwich with egg cheese and bacon and I just ate the bacon. A lot of my family was confused about the parking. When we called they said they had parking privileges at another hotel. When I checked in they told me to park at a parking garage just up the street a little bit. It ended up being free which was nice but other people that parked there had to pay. I don't know if that's because I'm a rewards member. Could be. I am glad I was able to pay for this hotel with points because if I had to pay cash, I would Be asking for a refund. One of our friends had to check out and go somewhere else for a couple of reasons. But I'm only commenting on my own experience. I would not recommend staying here! read more

This location was tough to spot. The is street parking but I'm not sure if there is an actual parking garage. This hotel was in a more residential location vs a commercial location. The hotel was clean and there was a market area downstairs where you could purchase snacks either with your card or put it on your room card. You have to have a key to get to your floor which is an added extra security measure. The room is small but quant. They have workout stuff in the room which is super cute. The bed was comfortable & clean. The shower had amazing water pressure and the hottest water ever.. The room had a mini fridge and if you wanted to microwave anything you just had to go downstairs & use the one in their market area. I appreciated this because it made having leftovers easy to deal with instead of having to search for a microwave. The check-in and checkout process was simple & efficient. Staff was kind and understanding. Location is convenient. I ended up cancelling the second I saw the dirty room though. From the hair in the bathroom sink, to the toothpaste splattered on the bathroom door, the gum stuck to the door frame, and the unclean white walls that butted up right to the bedside, I didn't even want to touch the dusty bedside tables to confirm the other things I noticed on the surface. There weren't any other rooms available so I commend the front desk staff for hearing me out and processing a full refund without penalty. I was disappointed. 1. The place is not kept up well. The elevators don't work properly (they don't necessarily come when called) and some of the elevator buttons don't light or don't work at all. 2. Not eco friendly at all - everything goes in the trash. There are no recycling bins. The building's energy efficiency rating (posted next to the barely working elevators) is an F. 3. The "Marketplace" a self-serve kiosk where you should be able to get snacks, is a junk-food junkies dream, and no-one else's. According to the menu, there were supposed to be turkey sandwiches and Amy Bowls in the fridge, but the entire 5 days I've been here, those have not made an appearance. Every time I asked (for almost a week) I was told that they were out. The only "healthy" options available were apples, oranges, bananas, full-sugar yogurt, and bottles of water. Other than that, there are sugary cereals, sugar loaded drinks, cookies, cakes, Doritos, and potato chips. On the first day, I went to the kiosk and made the mistake of purchasing a turkey sandwich, only to discover there there weren't any in the pantry. At the front desk, I was told that only a manager could refund my $8 for the sandwich and there wasn't one available. I left my name and room number on the receipt. Pros: Centrally located and easy to get to Atlantic Terminal, subways, and Barclays Clean, clean, clean Hydration station (but it is only kept filled in the AM, good luck getting water at night) Key card needed to access elevators to rooms Friendly staff Great gym Cons: The rooms are large enough for two people, however, the bathroom is in an awkward part of the room resulting in zero privacy The workout equipment is a great concept but the card they claim should be in the room is missing and that is what advises you on workouts Good luck ordering food for dinner. We only saw staff around for breakfast service Half the coffee machines in the self-serve area do not work, the freshly-squeezed OJ machine also does not work yet has old moldy oranges kept inside it The staff claims there is dairy-free milk yet I only saw half & half and it consistently ran low with nobody around to refill it Staff does not offer a printed receipt when you leave The beds are short. Very nice hotel! Stayed here for two reasons: celebrating a friend's birthday and to have close proximity to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. If it weren't so cold I could have walked there, but I used Uber. This is a great place to stay at a reasonable price. It's close to subway access into the city. Check-in staff were great. They were very helpful and gave suggestions on local restaurants. The room was pretty neat. Sure, the rooms are smaller than what you'd get in a suburban hotel, but they're bigger than the average room in Manhattan. The beds were so comfortable and the room smelled clean and fresh. There's great amenities, too. I liked the shampoo and conditioner that they featured. There's exercise equipment in the room (not that I used it, haha) but it's a nice touch. All in all it was a very good stay except I got sick (completely unrelated to the hotel stay) and when I left the next morning I was in a miserable frame of mind. If I can give the hotel a good review despite being so sick, you know it was a good place! read more

Wife and I stayed at the Even Hotel because it was nearest to the Barclays Center. We easily walked there within 5-7 mins to see the Celine Dion concert. Hotel staff were very friendly, rooms were medium size but clean and comfortable. The aesthetics of the hotel and rooms were nice simple, clean with nice open spaces for guests. They have a nice gym and even have some light equipment in the hotel rooms too. Beds and pillows were extremely comfy. Valet parking was $60 bucks which wasn't a huge headache because we only stayed one night - plus we didn't have to go looking for parking. If you're going to stay longer than you'll need to find another solution or it's going to cost a bundle. The one drawback for us was although they have a bar, they don't sell cocktails. Only wine, tea and other non-alcoholic drinks. Bartender was nice and told us that they couldn't sell because of the Hindu Temple adjacent to the hotel. We decided to walk across the street into the Holiday Inn's restaurant plus full bar. The welcomed us and we throughly enjoyed the cocktails and appetizers. We definitely would recommend the Even hotel however if you want to enjoy a cocktail, well you'll have cross the street. read more

I had a great weekend stay at the EVEN Hotel. The front desk staff is super friendly, there's a garage right across the street and the rooms are clean and a decent size for New York. My favorite part of my room was the bathroom. Great lighting and adequate size countertop for makeup and hair tools. The shower was awesome and I never had an issue with water pressure or temperature. The bed was very comfortable. I also liked the sport aspect of the room with the yoga mat, TRX bands and medicine ball. You can also adjust the color of the nightstand lamp to match your mood. I had breakfast during my last day and I enjoyed it. The restaurant which is right next to the lobby was freezing. Not sure what was going on but it appears that the whole first level was lacking heat. Other than that, this hotel was a great choice and I'll definitely be staying there again the next time I'm in Brooklyn. read more

As a person who travels between 20 and 26,000 miles a month I stay at a lot of hotels. On the surface this hotel looks nice, but when you start to deal with the people you can see where this is one of the worst businesses ever. Their motto is not customer service, is "passive aggressiveness will win the day". I was woken up at literally 9:01 AM by someone knocking on the door, saying housekeeping. Check out is it for many hours, but even with the sign that says do not disturb, they knock anyway. When they see that no one's there, they open the door very loud throw the trash out into the hallway very loud, laughing, on telephone calls, or listening to YouTube video I couldn't really tell. When I called the front desk to ask for the manager said he wasn't in but then 15 minutes later this woman in the video "Chris Lee " probably a fake name, but (we will get to the bottom of that) knocks on my door and pretends to be the manager. When I told her I speak to the manager of the hotel, she told me she was. I wish I could upload audio recordings to this site because you were here 21 minutes of the worst passive, aggressive temper, tantrum of any person in any manager role of any kind, and any corporation in the history of business. I asked her seven times to leave and she told me you don't own this room, you don't on this hotel, you're not my boss, etc. She also tried to play the mail, aggressor card, as well as the race card, but unfortunately for her, I am more ethnic Than her so that didn't work. It would've been horrible if I was it milk and toast, white man, or perhaps, that's what they thought I would act like because clearly this woman and this entire hotel for that matter, and perhaps the entire IHG corporation I have a serious problem With gender and race. Wow. I have never seen someone throw a passive aggressive temper tantrum at the door of a hotel guest for literally 21 minutes. She must have thought that I should close the door would be a victory for her or the hotel so she kept saying "you can close the door anytime if you've had enough." But I'm not gonna just slam the door and then get accused of some other type of crap so I used the yoga mat to prop the door open and went back into bed. Assuming, of course, that she would take that as a sign to leave me alone, but now she continued to argue with me, a hotel gas, while I'm laying in bed, so I got this short clip. Why would the hotel guest services manager, the arguing with a guest laying in the bed like this? Stay tune, because my organization is going to file a formal complaint with IHG corporation and we're going to get to the bottom of how people can feel so safe and their job that they can put on performances like this . The Even Hotel is by far one of my favorites and most frequented hotels in all of NYC. My last stay here was my fifth time visiting in less than nine months so a review was well overdue. From my experiences and overall stay here, I can say that Even Hotel is quite different from the other hotels that I have stayed at in NYC. As soon as you step foot in the lobby area of the hotel the smell is absolutely amazing and sure to make you feel a nice warm welcome. The staff makes check-in a breeze, although during my last stay the computer system was very slow, so I always book online about a few days to a day prior. Somehow the receptionist overlooked my reservation due to the computer system errors so there was a bit of a problem during check-in. However, this was resolved by management and all was clear, it just took a little longer than expected. Service was and always is professional, courteous and accommodating. The lobby offers a nice reception and dining area. They also have a gym, outdoor patio seating and even a small arcade to play fun games; however due to Covid-19 these options are temporarily inaccessible. Also, please keep in mind that they do not offer microwave in the hotel. So if you can, order food service after checking in voluntarily or bring food that is ready to eat. The rooms are very unique with nice space which is what brought me back a few times. They thankfully have gym equipment in each room making up for the main gym unavailable downstairs. The bathrooms are clean and modern which I like and the beds are pretty comfortable with a broad nightstand and good lighting. You are sure to get a nice view any room you book which is a plus. Overall, I recommend the Even Hotel to anyone staying in New York or just visiting for sometime. Remember they have a place for every personality. read more

Booked this hotel since it was walking distance to the Barclays Center. Check in was quick and easy, the front desk staff were friendly. We were able to request a high floor (the hotel has 14 floors) The room was small but it had everything you needed and then some like exercise equipment and yoga supplies, there is even a channel that will guide you through the exercises. The worst part was the room wreaked of HEAVY cigarette smoke!! (This is a NON-SMOKING hotel) I requested to change the room which was not a problem. We were given breakfast and lunch vouchers (4 in total 2 each for me and my husband). This wasn't your average free hotel breakfast, no powdered eggs, or watered down oatmeal. Everything was cooked to order and it was delicious. There were healthy options like avocado toast and protein yogurt bowls and the portions were good. You could sit in the eat in area and place your order or order your food to go. There is a mini fridge in each room and a microwave on the lobby level. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Except for our last morning, we were awakened by maintenance making noise in the hall replacing the carpet. There was also some other minor repairs that needed to be done but overall the hotel was in good condition. On our way out we were checking underneath the bed to make sure we didn't leave anything and it was very dusty, so housekeeping needs to move those beds and vacuum when cleaning. I would stay here again if I was going to an event at the Barclays again. read more

Staff is fine, checkout is at 12 am and due to some buisness I had to ask for a later checkout. They say that there is no way possible I can get a late checkout. This hotel is super cute! I think the whole concept of fitness and relaxation is a great theme. I have no complaints about the room, and the view was as good as you can get in Brooklyn. We were only here for one night but it was well worth it ... we invited friends over to cry, laugh and have drinks listen to music and although we were a bit loud, surprisingly we had zero complaints from the lobby. I specifically liked all the sort of inspirational quotes placed on each sections of the room doors elevators and walls. The rooms are small but trendy and cozy which I adored. Even though I like the concept of EVEN, this Brooklyn location is not the best and I will not be coming back here. I booked for 2 nights over a weekend because I was visiting for a show at the BAM theater, which is a 5 min walk away. The location is convenient, next to the subway, Citi bike station and within a nice long walk from DUMBO. Many cute coffee and brunch places in the area. Sadly, the room was small and not functional at all. The bed is right opposite the sliding door to the restroom and the white throne, so one person's head is quite literally in the toilet. No privacy and dignity for anybody sharing the room. The other pillow is set right opposite the window with blinders that do not offer a blackout. There are small lights next to the bed and no central switch. The socket plugs overhead do not work and even though they put a usb plug station on one side of the bed (with annoying bright display), there is no way for the other person to charge their phone by the bed. These are small annoyances that make me wonder: who designed this room with no functionality? They occupy the counter space with endless notes and reassurances of their 'green' philosophy, but all the cups provided are plastic and wrapped in extra foil. Very eco indeed. They offer in room Keurig, which generates most non degradable waste of all coffee machines. The in-room little gym set up is right opposite the bed's corner with no space to utilize it without strange angles. The person who designed these rooms had no clue.... Not convenient and dysfunctional on such a small square footage. The sound isolation is non existent. The doors are very close to one another and all morning all you hear is slamming and 'room service' knocking and chatter. The windows are shaking each the nearby subway goes by. The traffic noise goes right into the room from the busy street. I do realize it is Brooklyn downtown, but I stayed in Even Manhattan with excellent window noise protection. The positives are: comfortable mattress, clean sheets, decent toiletries and 2level gym. Overall, I would not recommend or stay again. Giving it 3 stars, because it is not a run down dirty motel, but too many hiccups to judge better. Do better EVEN, or don't even bother to pretend. read more

Close to alot of things. A good spot. Windows and walls are thin. You can hear the subway rumble from below. We were on the 6th floor. Traffic & police sounds are often in this area. No microwave! So can't pack any microwavable foods. Bathroom door does not lock, privacy is very minimal if that is a issue for you. The place is very clean and does offer beautiful views. read more

Our stay here was not good at all. Checking in took about 25 minutes even though we booked days prior and we were the first ones there. We also had a difficult time even hearing the front desk associate. After we finally checked into our room, the toilet in our bathroom has toilet paper in it and it was not clean. Also, when I wanted to hang up the towel by the sink, the handle easily fell off and almost hit my head. I really don't recommend this place unfortunately, even after paying for the King Wellness room, it was not worth it. read more

For the price point in Manhattan and Brooklyn, this spot is a great option. NY hotels are expensive and I've visited NY at least six times in the last few months and this was the best in the $150-200 price range. They have a gym with cardio equipment and a small weights section. They also have resistance bands, an exercise ball, yoga mat, and foam roller in each room. The lobby has lemon and lime water available when you walk in and there is some space to work. The room was clean and pretty standard. In my hotel room it did smell like maybe a neighbor / other hotel guest was smoking weed on the first day so not sure if the window was just slightly open and the smell went in. We had stayed at the Even Hotel in midtown east and were satisfied, so when we had to be in Brooklyn this spring for a wedding we chose Even again. Big mistake. This hotel is really lacking and I cannot imagine how anyone can say it is a 4-star hotel. Although the room was spacious enough we were not comfortable. There is not a chair to sit on except for a high desk chair. There are wood-like floors but with a carpet insert that has a protruding metal edge that hurts a lot if you accidentally step on it. There is no safe in the room. The bathroom mirror had gross drips on the back of the frosted glass edge. Another metal edge going from room to bathroom. The tile was shabby and did not appear clean. The shower head was a hand-held that was not adjustable at all and mounted so high that the spray went over my head (I'm 5'7") so you have to shower with one hand holding the shower head. We were there 4 nights, Thurs-Mon. No maid service came on Saturday. The food is expensive and bad. The front desk staff were young people who didn't seem to have a clue. I voiced all these complaints to a manager who did apologize and said that the hotel was being renovated and hoped all this would change. So warning, until this hotel is fully renovated, stay away. read more

Nice interior, wonderful looking room, nice bathroom, wonderful shower. The free wine at happy hour in the bar was a nice touch along with the appetizers for rewards members. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating to everyone I saw come through the hotel. The hotel room had a nice yoga setup and resistance bands that helped me start my morning feeling productive. The room is a different setup than you're going to be used to, but it's a welcome change. Would definitely stay again. read more

Great budget hotel. Convenient to the subway, some decent restaurants in the area, and a clean, simple vibe that makes for a comfortable stay. Workout stuff in the room, but I took a bottle of wine back and lounged in the comfy bed instead. The gym has a couple of Peloton bikes, but I was more into sleeping. Will go back. read more
