Great little speakeasy at the Shinola! Very roomy with lots of dark cozy spaces to sit as a group or great for date night. SERVICE: Whether at the bar or seated within the open seating area, the service is great. Very attentive and friendly servers. FOOD: Great bites and great cocktails to choose from and enjoy! I had the usual (old fashioned - Knob Creek) of course! If you are staying at the Shinola don't miss this place!!

I walked around to find a place to just relax and chill. I end up finding this location. It was not easy to find because the sign was only on the door. I found out that you need reservations excluding the bar. There was a couple of people leaving so we were in luck. This place makes many specialty drinks and the bar people know what they are doing. It is a lively spot with good music and the drinks are unique. I would definitely check it out again.

We went here after a baseball game. It had a speakeasy vibe and was dark and fancy feeling on the inside. We came for drinks and ended up staying for some French fries. The food and drink was definitely on the pricier side, I'd come here for a special occasion. They were busy but service was on point. Overall this place was cute and a fun spot to grab a post-game cocktail. Espresso martinis 8/10

The door to this speak easy was in the alley, quiet vibes inside with nice music playing. I love the low lighting and intimate feel. They offer small bites on the menu, since I ate at the last spot I chose not to order any. We sat at the bar and I asked the bartender to make something fruity with tequila and he worked his magic.

Fancy cocktail. I believe this one was "The Birds and the Bees"

Evening bar was a great place to start a night out in Detroit, but it would be an ideal spot for a nightcap as well. Located in the Shinola hotel, it's easy to miss when you look for it, and has a cozy speakeasy vibe once you're there. We chose our own table and were promptly greeted by a server who appeared through a sliding panel in the wall that opened up. We briefly perused the menu before choosing drinks that sounded tasty. I went with the Bird and Bee, and it was flavorful without being overpowering. Bonus points for being served in an elegant glass!

We absolutely loved stubbing upon this bar. The decor and ambiance was everything we were looking for and definitely be back.

So I found this on a whim and I was not unhappy in my decision. This is a speakeasy type of establishment. It's very dark and dim so it could be intimate so it's not for a turn up type of situation. So now, you have to find street parking because there isn't necessarily free parking downtown Detroit, but we know that. Get out of the car, there's a number place you can walk around. If you seen our reviews before, you know that I like speakeasies and hidden bars so this definitely fit the bill. You come in and it's dark like I said, but it's also pretty beautiful. They have neon lights and couches for seating as well as the bar top. I went with family and I ordered a couple Irish espresso martinis, they came out pretty decent. The bartender actually got to talk to us a little bit. So I appreciated the customer service as well. Overall, this will be a nice little duck off. If you want to find something that's a little more quiet around the city of Detroit. When I go back home I would definitely go back. I feel like we only sat at the bar and got a couple of drinks so I didn't really get to full experience as far as sitting down in the couch and lounge area and kicking back. But I did enjoy my time there.

We ended a perfect evening at the Evening Bar! We enjoyed meeting all the staff and chatting. This is a perfect spot for a romantic evening. It's dark and cozy and there are plenty of seating that is somewhat private. The drinks were fabulous. You should check it out!

Ordered a lemondrop and they did not disappoint. We didn't have reservations but were sat at the bar right away. The drink menu was impressive, kinda expensive but my drink was worth every penny.

Tiki Cocktails, the cherry one was wonderful.

My husband and I grabbed a last minute reservation after a cold and windy Tigers game. The Tiki Pop Up was a surprise and exactly what Downtown Detroit needs in the cold grey winter. The decor felt like you walked into old school Tiki Bar from the 50s, it was perfect. We ordered two rounds of drinks and loved them all. My husband's Favorite was the garage themed one( I'm sorry I can't remember the name) but it came in a CAT oil filter themed Tiki glass. I loved the blue Gin Martini called Model M-Martini. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without feeling rushed or hovered over. We ordered small plates of lobster rolls, and my husband said they were just as good and f not better than in Maine. We also got fried olives stuffed with blue cheese which I would absolutely order again. This was a wonderful experience and we will absolutely be back. Thank you Evening Bar.

The theme was "Yes, Chef: An exploration of culinary icons through a cocktail lens." Each drink was inspired by or dedicated to a famous culinary icon, and you can read about each one in the index. We each ordered one drink from each section. From the Opening, I chose the Diaspora Club, which was so refreshing and delicious. Then from the Principals, I chose the Chingona, which was a little bit spicy and savory but still so refreshing. To Finish, I chose the Chocolatier Cosmo, which came with a tiny house-made salted dark chocolate. I loved all three cocktails I ordered, especially the chocolatier cosmo because it was perfectly sweet and went so well with the small piece of chocolate. For food, we started off with the crispy pork belly milk bread. For my entree, I ordered the miso butter gnocchi. It was kind of on the salty side but I still really liked it. The apple sofrito added a bit of sweetness to it. For dessert, we had to get the rhubarb coffee cake, which came with strawberry ice cream. Omg one of the best desserts I've ever had!! I never thought of combining cinnamon coffee cake with rhubarb or strawberry but it's perfect, and I might have to make something like that soon. Service was great and we were seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday despite not having a reservation. Food and drinks came out promptly and timed perfectly. We spent about 1.5 hours here and we never felt rushed.

It is tucked away in an alley, and yes, the trash bins may briefly make you question your life choices. But once you spot the glass block window, you know you are in the right place. The second you walk in, the vibe completely changes. You are greeted by a friendly host, then brought into this tiny, dark, cozy little speakeasy that feels like it seats maybe 25 people total, including the bar. It is intimate in the best way, with a gorgeous liquor wall and a rolling ladder that makes the whole room feel dramatic without trying too hard. The drinks are the reason to come. They are creative, unusual, and genuinely unlike what you will find at a standard cocktail bar. Some of the spirit combinations sound like they should not work on paper, but somehow they absolutely do. The mixologists clearly know what they are doing, because every "wait, really?" ingredient pairing seems to turn into something balanced, interesting, and dangerously easy to appreciate. The only things to keep in mind are the size and the pricing. It can get busy quickly because it is so small, and cocktails can run anywhere from around $20 to over $100 depending on what you order. Not exactly a casual "oops, I had three" kind of place unless your wallet has been emotionally prepared. Bad Luck Bar is moody, memorable, and one of the more unique cocktail experiences in Detroit. It feels hidden, thoughtful, and just a little mischievous, which is exactly what a good speakeasy should be.

I ordered the Forgotten Blossom because all things lychee has been my thing lately. The drink looks like water but it is not! lol It's strong drink + having aperitif in it. The waiter was attentive and checked in on us consistently. We even received a complimentary shot after being seated and complimentary birthday shots for the birthday folks! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I will be back real soon!

And I danced for hours! Sweat glistening on my brow. My body moving and grooving to the funky soulful house beats. It felt so freeing to be in a space where everyone was having a good a time and doing their own thing. I had my hands in the air. It was sensual. It was sexy. It was a vibe. Now the bathroom situation is interesting. So, the bathroom situation is 2 urinals and the sink in the open space as well as an enclosed single stall. The only thing with that is it's all-gender, which is not the issue. But the layout of the restroom is you could potentially come out of the single stall and be in the same space with someone actively using the open urinals which is a bit awkward. Washing your hands and checking yourself in the mirror while some random person is pee'ing 2 feet away. As a woman I think about safety with a shared space like that so do what you will with that info. Outside of that I had a really fun time. Everyone was super nice and the cover was $10pp. If you decide you don't wanna dance they have an enclosed bar on the street level of the establishment as well as outdoor seating if that's you're thing. If I was in Detroit again, I'd go shake my booty there again! I had fun!

So then we decided on round two of cocktails the plate of chips, avocado toast and another round of pork belly! Again, divine. Although I will admit, everything got dipped into the pork belly sauce. Was tempted to do a round three to try the highly recommended lobster rolls but decided to save something for the next visit because there will be one. They executed all the small plates exceptionally well. And the cocktails were top quality! Only complaint was the seats are very low to the ground. I'm short and my legs were aching.
