If I get lucky enough to attend another event there, I would not sit by the speaker in the dining area because it was extremely loud and it was hard to hear the people at my table, will leave that table for the younger generation! lol. The food from the Cabbage Patch in Snohomish was outstanding. The beef tenderloin and the spinach salad with homemade raspberry vinegarette was delicious. I'm telling you I have been to many venues in my lifetime, and this one might be my all time favorite. Kudos to the family run business!

I thought a custom cake would be similar to what I've experienced at Pomegranate. Alas, no. Thus begins my tale of ordering a cake for a special occasion--The Ol' Mangaretta's birthday. Now, Mang loves vanilla cake with vanilla icing. Yes. Plain ol' vanilla done right is amazing. I wrote to LDC and asked if they could make an all-butter, vanilla cake for me, seeing that the people I'd be celebrating with have allergies and butter is the safest oil. They assured me that it would be no problem. I went to pick up the cake, and was surprised that the process was disorganized. Okay, well, I'll just take my cake. After a long wait, I got said cake. I was so excited when I got it home--it was beautiful! They took great care in decorating it. We cut it, and then began the disappointment. The cake tasted burnt, though it only was a deep brown. It was overdone, for sure. If I'd baked it, I would have trimmed off the top, bottom, and sides. The buttercream was decent, but the burnt flavor overwhelmed everything else. So, sorry, my dear Pomegranate peeps, but one star for your connection to Pomegranate, beautiful decorating, and decent buttercream, and minus four stars for disorganized pick-up and burnt, pricey cake that ended up down the drain.

I corresponded with Nola herself a couple of times in the weeks leading up to the event, and she was very accommodating and patient with me as I changed my mind a couple of times regarding the menu and level of service. It is not cheap to have an event catered, period, but we wanted to have it be an extra-special celebration where we could enjoy ourselves with our guests without the hassle of preparing, warming, plating and serving food and making individual cocktails for everyone. Nola's came through, big time! Nola herself and her bartender, Brandi, arrived a couple of hours early and got themselves set up. We barely had to do a thing once we discussed with them where the bar and food platters should go. We got to just go upstairs and take our time getting ready, and come down a few minutes before the party start time and have Brandi fix us a drink to have in hand as our guests arrived. So luxurious! The party was so fun, thanks in large part to Nola and Brandi and the fabulous food, drinks, and service. Our guests raved about all of the yummy platters - particularly the shrimp with aioli sauce, the mushroom flatbread bites, the smoked salmon toasts, and the charcuterie board with roasted and pickled vegetables. People got extra glowy and happy from Brandi's amazing cocktails, including incredible manhattans and French 75s. Nola and Brandi chatted with our guests and even joined in some of the dancing at the end of the evening! We got to get glamorous and visit with everyone fully after so many months of cancelled and postponed events and having to worry about getting together with too many people. Of course we had the food catered from a different place and setup our own look, but the location was decent for what we needed. One con is that they stated that the event space held up to 40 folks, but they only were able to offer 25 chairs-- that was a problem. Either list 25 as the capacity or add more chairs to suit the capacity of guests. It was really problematic, and I felt bad for my standing guests.
