One PA was frustrating, and scheduling isn't always smooth, though the gals at the front desk are super nice every time we can reach them. In long Last spring, my lovely bride had a massive stroke, and has seen the orthopedist, pain management doc, and spine specialist here. The pain management doc moved to another office this year, and we'll see her again shortly. One quick outpatient procedure last year was a waste of time because the PA just hurried through it. The orthopedist had been called out for an emergency surgery. We repeated that proc a couple months later with the actual MD and it was super effective. Lots of reviews mention how tough it is to schedule here, and sometimes the phones do leave you wondering if you'll ever get through to a human. Once you do, though, they follow through and stuff gets done, at least in our experience. The facility is nice enough for sure. Decent amount of parking, clean and bright. It's surprising to find a medical facility that does not have automatic doors for wheelchair users, but then again, this is not the only one. Those doors are evidently way more expensive than we might think. Overall we're happy with the care here and will continue to be seen.

So, after at least 3 phone calls, the date for my first appointment was mixed up and I missed it. Finally, I get an appointment and there is no one in their office to take my insurance info. Why I even bothered after this point is beyond me! 1st appointment for an evaluation was fine. I thought maybe I had misjudged the place. 2nd appointment was unsatisfactory. The PT told me that they were terribly understaffed and she looked like she was ready to cry. After that visit, I decided to go to the trouble (and the new wait time) of getting a new referral for a different rehab place. So now, a month later, I get a bill for "services" totaling over $400. Services? For what? I would suggest you find a different PT office, if you are looking for help. Summit on 19th Ave, Silver Lake area may have been a great office 6 months ago but in my experience, it was a huge waste of time. I WILL be disputing this bill!!

I am writing this to warn other patients--particularly women and those with a history of health…read moretrauma--to seek care elsewhere. My experience with Dr. Palmer, Dr. King, and the Optum/Everett team was defined by dismissiveness, professional negligence, and repeated attempts to "psychologize" physical symptoms that turned out to be chronic organ dysfunction. The Failure to Diagnose I presented with anal bleeding, a history of childhood cancer, and lifelong GI issues. Despite a HIDA scan showing 13% gallbladder function (severely dysfunctional) and an ultrasound showing a gallstone and fatty liver, Dr. Palmer and Dr. King repeatedly dismissed my symptoms. * The "Anxiety" Trap: Because I was transparent about having health anxiety due to being a cancer survivor, the team used this against me. I was told my right upper quadrant pain was "musculoskeletal" or "anxiety-related." Dr. Palmer even attempted to prescribe antidepressants for physical pain that was actually a failing gallbladder. * Missed Connections: Despite my high BMI-neutral health and fitness level, they blamed "social drinking" for liver elevations and ignored the clear clinical link between gallbladder dysfunction, fatty liver, and Type 2 Diabetes. I had to advocate for my own A1C testing at an unrelated appointment, which confirmed I was diabetic--a connection the GI team completely failed to investigate. Unprofessionalism and Gatekeeping The level of unprofessionalism was shocking: * Dr. Palmer made disparaging comments about "the types of people" who have colon problems. * The nursing staff was dismissive, once copying my primary doctor to "warn" them I had anxiety rather than addressing my post-procedure complications. * Dr. Palmer "mansplained" the rigors of IVF to me--despite the fact that I have gone through 11 rounds--and actively discouraged a necessary surgery that multiple other surgeons recommended. When I pushed for answers, Dr. Palmer became visibly annoyed. In our final appointment, he actually had the nerve to say, "You have had hundreds of thousands in testing done; you are fine." It is not a doctor's job to act as a cost-gatekeeper for an insurance-owned clinic (Optum/United Healthcare). His focus was on the "cost" of my care rather than the documented organ dysfunction in my chart. The Outcome After being denied further imaging at Optum, I sought a second opinion at Skagit Regional. They immediately ordered the necessary CT/MRI and agreed that surgery was required, especially as I was preparing for an embryo transfer (pregnancy is notoriously hard on the gallbladder). The Proof: I had my gallbladder removed last week. The pathology confirmed: 1. Thickened gallbladder walls. 2. Sludgy bile. 3. Chronic inflammation (it was adhering to surrounding organs). Discrediting the "Lifestyle" Blame Because I was honest about social drinking, the team used that to blame my elevated liver enzymes and "mild fatty liver." They told me to just "stop drinking and lose weight" (despite my normal BMI). The Proof: During the surgery, the surgeon personally inspected my liver. There were no signs of fatty liver. My liver numbers had already stabilized once I started Metformin for the Type 2 Diabetes that I had to ask to be tested for. The fact that i had drinks here and there during this time proves that my liver issues were never caused by alcohol--they were related to the gallbladder and metabolic issues this team refused to connect and instead wanted to gaslight the situation using my truthfulness of normal social drinking against me as well as anxiety. If I had listened to Dr. Palmer and Dr. King, I would have entered a high-risk pregnancy with a chronically inflamed organ. Their insistence on "medical necessity" felt more like financial gatekeeping for the insurance company that owns them than actual patient care. Advice to patients: If you feel something is wrong, do not let this team tell you it is in your head. Seek a second opinion immediately.

GI Department is horrible see below…read more I would like to begin by saying that I have been a long-time patient of The Everett Clinic and have always received excellent care in the past. However, my recent experiences with Optum have been extremely disappointing and frustrating. This situation began when my doctor submitted a referral for me to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy due to ongoing gastrointestinal issues. I never received a call from Optum to schedule an appointment, despite waiting for weeks. After calling multiple times and receiving inconsistent information, I was finally scheduled for a consultation -- nearly two months after the initial referral. I was told I would be added to a cancellation list, but after another month without any communication, I had to call again myself, at which point I was finally able to be seen that same day. During my consultation, I met with Nicole Cheng, ARNP, rather than the physician (who was reportedly booked three months out). She instructed me to stop taking Omeprazole for two weeks prior to my procedure. Three weeks later, I had the procedure, and the results were uploaded to MyChart. However, seven days passed with no communication from my provider. After several phone calls, I finally received a brief MyChart message instructing me to continue taking Omeprazole 20 mg. Because my symptoms persisted, I reached out again to Ms. Cheng, who advised me to resume taking Omeprazole 40 mg -- the same dosage I had been taking before the procedure, which clearly had not been effective. I also expressed my frustration with the lack of communication and continuity of care. Her response was simply, "Sorry you feel that way," and she proceeded to cancel my December follow-up appointment without my request or consent. When I called back to reschedule with an actual physician, the representative I spoke with was dismissive, telling me that all doctors were booked through the end of the year and that 2026 schedules were not yet available. When I asked what I should do in the meantime, I was told, "I don't know." This entire experience has been extremely disappointing. The delays, lack of follow-up, and poor communication I've encountered with Optum are unacceptable. It should not take months to schedule a consultation, receive results, or speak with a qualified provider about ongoing symptoms.

He said when he got back there no one greated him and Dr. Boggs was chatting it up with the staff, came over and made a mark on his foot and left. My husband's pain tolerance is difficult as he's been on pain medication for ongoing issues, and was prescribed the lowest dose of medication possible. We addressed this with the anestesiologist, and the nurse at the surgery center who completely agreed that the medication would not work for pain and to speak with Dr. Boggs staff about this. He spoke with Nickki, who was extremely rude, unsimpathetic, and he told her the medication was not working, she said to double up the dose, ice it and see if that works. She made him feel like he's a drug seeker, She didn't care, and on the sheet of paper they gave us it said to call the doctor directly if your medication doesnt work. Thats what he did!!!! I called back and advised that hes in excrusiating pain and ice, and elevating it and the medication is not working, and he's been doubling up on his dose, she said well who told you to do double the dose, really you just told my husband to do that. So long story short they are not going to do anything, and I said well this is a waste of time, and I guess hes just going to suffer and be in pain and ended the call. She called back, spoke to my husband and said I thought we were on the same page? Really???!!! No not at all, your not helping. You make him feel like a criminal, and drug seeker and doctors are clearly scared to prescribe pain medication, but it's for a surgery. We are very unpleased with WWMG, and Dr. Boggs staff, and if we couldd go else where mid treatment we would. It's hard enough to see my husband in misery, and awful pain, and then to see him hurt by making him feel like he's a criminal and drug seeker. We will never do business with Dr. Boggs, or WWMG again. Very dissappointing that you leave your patients in agony! I've called my insurance company to make them aware of the complaint as well, and the BBB. Beware, if your having surgery and have a pain contract, you will be left in misery and be made to feel like a drug seeker and criminal.

I am being kind giving him a 1 star. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM HIM!!!!…read more I was given Dr. Schaaf's name by my family physician. She ordered Xrays and an MRI so that I could go see him. I had just rode in the StP and heard a pop in my knee area towards the end of my ride. It swelled to 3x the size and there was something definitely wrong. Went to see Dr. Schaaf. Dr. Schaaf reviewed the MRI and X-rays. I complained about the back of my knee. Pointed to the area. He Looked at the MRI and XRays - said my knee cap was out of alignment and would need to do microscopic surgery to push it back into place, by cutting the muscle tissue around my knee cap to give it room to move back into place. My other option was - If I didn't do this surgery, I wouldn't be able to continue riding my bikes the distances I was used too. It would become short quick Sunday afternoon family rides. If I did the surgery I'd be back on my bike and as good as knew in time for the next bike season. I did the surgery. Missed a month of work. Had to do months of Physical Therapy and at my post op appointment with Dr. Schaaf, I said nothing has changed. The pain is still there right at the back of my knee. I could point exactly where it was coming from in the exact spot I complained about before the surgery. Dr. Schaaf said. Well the MRI's wasn't for that area of my knee. So, he wasn't not sure what to tell me other than Surgery is went well. He was pleased with the outcome since I healed well. He had no answer to what the pain I was feeling was from. Said to give it some time and come back if it didn't get any better. I didn't want to go through a surgery like that again, so it took me 3 years to finally go back. Told Dr. Schaff that the pain has never stopped, never changed areas. I am finally willing to have a second surgery if it will take care of the problem. I just want to be back on my bike and active. I had replaced biking with hiking, but I was having issues with hiking now too. Schaaf said I'd have to have another MRI for him to diagnosis what was wrong. Said great, let's fix the problem. Had the MRI and waited for a call. Got a letter in the mail, stating their was nothing wrong with the MRI. Called Dr. Schaaf, got his assistant. She said the MRI shows nothing wrong. Since I was never shown the MRI, I said - Did Dr. Schaaf take the MRI for the back of my knee? Can you please confirm and have him look at it again. The problem is the back of my knee. Assistant called me back. She said Dr. Schaaf reviewed my MRI again. Confirmed he could see the back of my knee and there was nothing wrong. Went to a real knee specialist for a second opinion. within 5 minutes, the Dr. said - Its sound like a Menisci problem. Could be one of three things. He discussed and diagrammed out all three issues. He told me he could fix 2 of the 3 things issues. But, said the MRI from Dr. Schaaf was worthless, since you have to do an ink injection to see the Menisci which would cause the back knee pain. Both times, Dr. Schaaf did not do an ink injected MRI. :( Said he needed me to do the MRI with the ink injection. I did that... Went back to see him and he gave me a picture of my Menisci with the tear. Plain as day. There is a tear on the right side (Where I would point to and complain to Dr. Schaaf). When I was getting the ink injected MRI - I was told by the MRI specialist, that common practice is always to have the 2nd MRI an ink injection MRI. You can see more from that. Said this is a common story - that the prior doctor didn't bother with the proper MRI... Hence, the majority of the patients the hospital sees - is for second opinions and have similar stories to mine. So for me... 2 MRI and 1 knee surgery later. Lots of money and lots of time wasted on a Dr. who just doesn't care enough to listen to his patients. He just wants to get them on the surgery table for unnecessary surgeries, so that he can make money and be done with really helping anyone. To do a proper diagnosis takes a little time and effort by the Dr. Dr. Schaaf does neither.... Though he will tell you that he loves your shoes. Oh, and I called Dr. Schaaf's office to give them my feedback of above, so that maybe he might care enough to start pay attention to his next patient that is in line for help.... His assistant and he wouldn't take my call and told me to fill out a comment card! Seriously??! DONT EVERY GO TO THIS BUTCHER, HE IS A QUACK!
