Dr. Kinahan's medical assistant pulled my records and had them ready for Dr. Kinahan. Dr. Kinahan came in and was very professional and pleasant he looked at my films and asked me about my symptoms. He did a comprehensive exam and discussed treatment options with me. We agreed on what was best based on his expert recommendations. He made me feel included in my treatment care. I broke my leg while traveling abroad. The orthopedic doc in Turkey wanted to do surgery straight away. I said no and that I would get it evaluated when I got home. Took the next flight home and went to the ER here. They referred me to Everett Bone and Joint. I was happily surprised when my doc said I didn't have to do surgery. I have a less then $120 bill from years ago I forgot about and will happily pay but now this place won't let me make an appointment for a displaced heel fracture until I clear the bill which is quite small compared to how much im sure this joke rakes in. Personally I view the fact that they are willing to let an injury worsen and become irreparable or at least a more complicated fix as a full violation of the sacred hippocratic oath. Now yelp wants to know about care quality the last time I went there was for a torn meniscus which is still torn and probably worse now. While I can say the doctor i saw seemed polite I felt as if he didn't care and spent maybe 12 seconds listening to me before sending me on my way. Im sure this place is great. I had Dr. Huang replace both of my hips, two years apart. The surgery was such an amazing difference in my ability to get around pain free. The office was professional, and Dr Huang was kind, knowledgeable, direct, and very thorough on explaining the surgery, which I appreciate. Recovery was easy thanks to his great work. I started having knee pain at 24 with countless PT visits and dr visits. It started getting worse and traveling up my leg. At 28 the drs started really taking me serious when I was having crippling nerve pain and numbness in my leg that traveled down into my foot. I saw so many Drs including a sports med Dr, a spine specialist, a nerve specialist, a neurologist, and a obgyn who specializes in endometriosis. Finally my friend recommended I see Dr Nick Vaudrail to be evaluated after interesting discoveries in a partial hip MRI (this was the 3rd or 4th one I had to try and diagnose what was going on). At this point I was willing to try anything because the spine specialist and sports med Dr were ready to put me on anti anxiety because they were convinced nothing was wrong with me. Dr Vaudrail diagnosed me with FAI and a labral tear. I finally felt validated and had an answer for my pain and issues after all these years. I had surgery by him to fix this in August 2023. It's been a long recovery but Dr and his team have helped me along the way and I am so glad I had the surgery. My mental, emotional, and physical health has done a 180. my Knees were shot, went to EBJ and Bill Huang who asked me which knee to do first as both needed replacement. I chose the right one cause it was keeping me up at night. All went well other than confusion as to when to start taking pain meds. huang told me to come back when I was ready for the left knee to be replaced. Fast forward three years, I go back and see Huang, he had me x- rayed and ten minutes later put the X-ray up on the reader and it looked like a twenty year olds knee. A half inch of cartilage .The first x ray was bone on bone on one side and an eighth inch of cartilage on the other side. He told me " nothing wrong with that knee.asked if I wanted a cortisone shot. Cancelled my surgery less than 24 hours to go. Told they can't do my surgery because I have a latex allergy. They did the MRI with injection, but not the surgery. All the pre-op, MRI cost, prep, meds, taking off work, etc.... Don't waste your time and money. These people are unprofessional and nasty and yelled at me as well, BS. EB&J was a very cold environment filled with not happy employees- no one seemed to be on the same page and appeared to dislike each other. Doctor Mason that "helped" us, his wife showed up needing stitches cause she cut herself at home and it was alllllll he cared about , barely in the room, huffing and puffing trotting in our room in between wife visits ..rambling loudly in the halls about it, gave a TERRIBLE cast wrap job and basically left us hanging. The front desk clerks are rude and ghetto. They also discuss your personal information for everyone in the waiting area to hear. For every appointment that I've had, I've had to wait an extra 45min-1hr pass my scheduled appointment time to be seen. The doctor was great but the over all business was quite unpleasant. read more

(Second update: It turns out it's not completely radiating pain, though that was aggravating it. It's actually a deformity. Dr. Nowak's pain injection (which I didn't get on the advice of my primary doctor) wasn't going to do a thing to help me, and it wouldn't matter how much I weighed. I've also had a doctor and a physical therapist confirm that Dr. Nowak's personality is "challenging" and "different." I couldn't remember his name when I was talking to a physical therapist, I described how he treated me and the PT knew exactly who he was. So basically, if you want to be treated well, I'd go elsewhere. There *are* good doctors out there! Oh, and to add insult to injury (no pun intended), they have sent me a bill. I guess it was too much work to actually bill my secondary insurance. Do these people *try* to hire incompetent employees??) (Update: I have since seen a different doctor at a different clinic. He looked at the x-rays and MRI that I had previously (the same information Dr. Nowak had,) and actually listened to me regarding where my pain is and what aggravates it. He sent me for another MRI on a different body part because he thought perhaps it was radiating pain. I don't yet know if it is, but the MRI he sent me for definitely showed things Dr. Nowak should have been aware of. I'm glad to be in good hands now and I know my new doctor will see this through!) I saw Dr. Nowak here and OMG what a pompous ass! He clearly has a problem with overweight people. I would understand saying that losing weight would be better for a problem joint. Dr. Nowak went SO much further than that. He told me I should fire my nutritionist. He implied that my award winning endocrinologist wasn't doing his job properly. He argued with me.... ARGUED WITH ME, about how I was feeling regarding a condition that wasn't even his business. He asked me questions about conditions that were none of his concern in any way, shape, or form. For someone barely out of medical school, he's got a lot to learn about bedside manner. He might be good at what he does, but if patients leave your office feeling worse than when they went in because you berated them and argued with them, you're a bad doctor. read more

Have had both knees scoped here. Went in because of issues with my left knee, and had very rude and unprofessional treatment. I felt like everything was being done to acomodate insurance companies, very little for patients. After putting up with the staff I finally got fed up and asked for my MRI's so I could go to a different orthopod. Went down to Seattle, and the doc asked if I really wanted to be operated on. I said of course not, and he said try a series of exercises and call him in eight weeks. That was three plus years ago, and I have been running, skiing, mountain biking, and SCUBA diving regularly since then. Check out carefully prior to having them perform any type of surgery on you. read more

I thought about waiting to write this review until I cool down a bit, but then I decided they really don't deserve any sugar-coating... This place, and Dr. Pryor, came highly recommended by a friend. (Whose friendship is currently being reconsidered) When I called to make my first appointment I told the receptionist that, and I swear she sounded surprised. Clearly, I am completely disappointed with my experience here! They suck at keeping in touch and setting up appointments. Every call I've gotten from them was initiated by multiple phone calls from me. And I'm not that demanding. I just like to be informed in a timely manner of how my case is progressing. I almost felt like as soon as the Dr realized I didn't need surgery, that they lost interest in me. But even then, some kind of follow-up and a referral to somewhere else would have been the thing to do. Right away, before answering any questions or even giving me a once-over, they took Xrays. Nothing alarming there so the Dr. recommended an MRI. I agreed because I'm at my wits end with the pain and want some answers. The MRI took almost two weeks just to get scheduled. I understand it's not a quick process but I thought two weeks was a bit much. So I get the MRI done (at their affiliated EBJ MRI center- which was great) and then I wait. And wait. And wait. A week and a half later, I call. I'm told I need an appt to go over the results. Great! Then why hasn't anyone called to set that up for me?! I mean, the place is crawling with receptionists, operators, and nurses, is that not their job? I'm really thinking if I hadn't called them, I never would've heard anything at all. Oh! Also, I requested that any info they found from their diagnostics be passed along to my chiropractor. I even gave them a little card with her fax number to make it easy. There was no mention that this wasn't possible. I had to get the run around to eventually talk to the records dept and find out that they only send records when requested BY FAX from your primary care doctor! Why didn't they just tell me that in the first place?! This is a perfect example of the weirdness and lack of accountability that seems to be happening at EBJ. So I followed their ridiculous system for records requesting and guess what! They STILL, after two weeks from receiving a faxed request, haven't sent the stuff to my doctor. In the middle of all this bs, I played a fun little game of phone tag with Dr. Pryor, after it was decided that he had no time in the next few weeks to see me in person. Every time I called him back I was told that he was busy with patients and would have to call me back. And on it went, because I guess I'm technically not a patient of his (?!) Then the last time I tried to get in touch with him, I was told he's on vacation. And THAT was the exact moment I decided to take my healthcare elsewhere. Wow, I'm pretty surprised at the reviews of this place. Granted, I only had 2 visits here, but they were both fine. My son sprained his PCL and Everett Clinic couldn't get him in to see a surgeon for 3 weeks. Instead of waiting, I found EBJ on the internet and they got us in much sooner. When we got there, of course we waited 30 minutes and our appointment started late, that seems to be the norm. The first doctor came in, checked out his knee and said they had a PCL Specialist of sorts on staff who was in surgery, but called him to come see us so I wouldn't have to come back. Dr. Nowak came in about 30 minutes later, in scrubs and met with us. He explained PCL sprains, recovery time for surgery, asked about my son's football team, position, etc. He prescribed PT, a better brace and said to come back in a month. On the follow up visit a month later, we again waited 30 minutes in the lobby, got in the exam room, then waited another 20 minutes. Dr. Nowak came in, and we had a good visit. He remembered who was on my son's fantasy football team, but then had to ask whether he played JV or Varsity. He apologized that he didn't remember, which I thought was endearing, because it definitely matters to a 17 year old! On either visit, Dr. Nowak was neither "pompous" nor an "ass". The staff all seemed nice and efficient. I didn't hear or see anything that would make me think otherwise. I haven't had any interaction with the billing department yet, I hope that goes fine after reading all these stories. read more

I would absolutely return to see Dr. Nowak! The reviews on here don't seem very accurate coming from normal people, but Im sure opinions get more dramatic when they aren't getting what they want. Dr. Nowak has seen me for Multiple body parts now including injections and MRI scans. I always get in within 2 weeks of calling (for a specialist this is normal people) and if its an emergency they have always moved things around or something because they squeeze me in a spot. He listens to everything I say and he's a straight shooter. No BS. He laid out my options at first visit and said I could do surgery or shots and therapy.. he recommended injections and therapy for 3 months to see if I would get relief.. last resort surgery that's the GOOD kind of doctor. If you want someone to just tell you what you want to hear and not the facts he isn't the one.. I am highly satisfied with his surgery. In pain with a shoulder hip or knee, GO SEE DR NOWAK some of the others I wouldn't say the same about! read more

But if you want a hassle free experience with billing, go elsewhere. I just got off the phone with them and have been told that I'm completely paid up now. I just finished my second labrel repair surgery with Dr. Nowak. The first hip has recovered without a hitch. The second is only two weeks post op, but healing well. He came highly recommended from my Physical Therapist, who worked with a number of his patients post op, all fully recovered. Dr. Nowak is professional and gives you plenty of time with him to ask questions. He's not the overly fluffy feel good type, he just tells you the facts, which I appreciate. He's a surgeon, not a physiatrist, but I can see how it might rub someone the wrong way. At the end of the day Nowak is a phenomenal surgeon with an amazing post op protocol that yield great results. read more

Dr. Peter Kinahan at Everett Bone & Joint provides exceptional care for his patients and I would recommend him to anyone who needs orthopedic care. I broke my right tibia and fibula snow skiing and received emergency surgery at a hospital close to the ski resort. Upon returning home, my GP referred my continued care to Dr. Kinahan and I've been so thankful ever since. Dr. Kinahan cares deeply for his patients and he works very hard to ensure that not only is their injury properly cared for but also takes great care to ensure that the emotional aspects of the patient is taken into account. When I required a second surgery to replace a broken plate and manage my nonunion fracture, he stayed in close contact with me and made sure that everything was taken care of to ensure a successful surgery. He juggled his schedule and coordinated communication between me and his staff. He was on top of the entire process and I knew he would do his very best to take care of my challenging situation. I see Dr. Kinahan regularly to ensure that everything is healing and I've always been treated with respect and a friendly manner from everyone at Everett Bone & Joint. When I've needed immediate care, I've been fit into Dr. Kinahan's schedule and I've always felt that everyone was there to support me and ensure I am receiving the best care possible. Wow you should have looked at reviews on here before going to this place. Hands down the worst experience I have had with a facility. I should have known when I walked in and saw tons of people waiting to speak to the receptionist and them ignoring everyone. Terrible customer service and practices designed to make the customer come in as many times as possible to get as much money as possible. They wanted 4 visits to do a simple surgery. Come in to consult on MRI results, come in to fill out per surgery paperwork etc. On top of that I got bounced around to 4-5 different people between billing, schedulers to reception. Dr. Kinahan has the best bedside manner of any physician I know. I went to him with an L & I case on my injured knee and he worked really hard to move the process along so I could get the least invasive procedure done and get relief. I will be unlikely to return to EBJ and here is why. Full disclosure: I totally forgot to go to my first appointment and for the second I showed up on time but did not have the paperwork filled out. When I arrived a snotty receptionist informed me I was supposed to check in downstairs (I don't recall being told this but maybe I was??). As I was sitting in the waiting room filling out the paperwork the receptionist saw fit to to talk to the other receptionist about my missed appointment and obvious inability to follow simple instructions. I sort of expect people who have to wait on others to complain about it but I also expect that they would wait until the person they are talking about is out of earshot. When you are in the business of taking care of others you should cut them a little slack. Patients are dealing with mobility and chronic pain issues. I bet most of them would love to do it right every time. It's too bad these receptionists have zero compassion. When I got in to see the doctor he told me all I had to do was calf stretches and all my pain would go away. That hasn't worked. read more

Horrible experience. The staff is unprofessional. My chart was missing info, I was told needed surgery for A torn meniscus by Dr Lin which he forgot to put in for surgery request, I called his office and was told they had started approval process for insurance coverage and surgery scheduling which would take a little while but assured me they we're going to put in for it. After a week in a half never heard back so I called to follow up, they didn't do anything with approval process and scheduling with surgery center...this caused more than two week delay which I've already been out of work month in a half. I don't trust the staff nor doctors to take care of me and have already made arrangements to go somewhere else for my knee surgery. read more

My husband's doctor refused to listen to his reoccurring PAIN, and brushes it off with physical therapy. This was absolutely one of the worst medical appointments that I have ever been to. Let me stress that I am a surgical assistant and scrub orthopedic surgery. I'm married to a Trauma, critical care, general surgeon. We intentionally didn't let them know we were medical professionals. I have had pain for 22 yrs. I saw Dr. Pryer the spine specialist. He had no interest in my previous diagnosis and how it related to my spine and muscular system. He shamed me terribly because I used to be on opiates for pain, YEARS ago, and accused me of being in recovery. I take ZERO MEDICATIONS nor did I go there asking for anything. I do everything I can naturally. I wanted to see structurally what was wrong so I could know what my next step was. Once I told him I was not going to consider any surgeries he checked out. I was his daily cash cow. I have always hated the orthopedic docs, esp when working with them. They are the jocks of the OR and their arrogance is second to none. If you have back pain...find someone else. This guy is just looking to do needless surgeries and take your money. Waste of an hour of my day for him to give me 5 mins of his precious time. He will not be getting any money from me beyond what my insurance pays!!!! I will not be treated like a dope seeker just because I have pain. He didn't SEE me, he judged me. SHAME ON YOU DR. PRYER. I was told by Doctor there that I needed surgery on my shoulder. I went in for surgery and was asked to sign a permission slip to inject me with "numbing medicine." When I asked them exactly what the "numbing medicine" was, the woman came back and told me it was Marcaine. I freaked out because I had made sure that my chart held the information that I was allergic to that medication. I told her to look at my chart which she did and it was obvious that nobody had even read my chart including the Doctor. I left the surgery center and went to Virginia Mason Clinic. There the Doctor in the Orthopedic Center told me my shoulder was frozen and I did not even need surgery. I was sent to a Massage Therapist and within 3 visits I had full use of my shoulder. Everett Bone and Joint is only interested in getting your insurance money - not in taking care of your medical needs. They could potentially have killed me. I saw Dr. Mason here. He was good, but the billing department sucks. I went to this office twice for a shoulder injury. My first appointment, I paid my co-pay at the office. The next time I went in, I noticed my social security number on my paper work was incorrect and had to fix that. I recently was billed for a copay for one of my visits, which I paid via mail. I just received another co-pay bill. I called them to figure the issue out and conveniently they do not show any record of my first co-pay ever being paid in the office.
