I have been under the care of Dr. Witte at NW Gastroenterology for many, many years. I have never…read moreexperienced any issues with neither Dr. Witte nor the business/office side of care. I feel seen, heard, remembered and very well cared for by him and staff. I appreciate that Dr. Witte is ALWAYS up to date with any of "the latest" research, info, etc that comes out regarding my disease and he is ALWAYS willing to share articles, books, etc. I don't feel rushed while there, though I do know doctors are under pressure these days with all the rules/regulations they must adhere to; that has never impacted a single visit I've had at NW Gastroenterology.

While I try to downplay these appointments (having had them every three years!), they're never exactly fun and yet your team consistently makes the entire process feel comfortable and reassuring. From the kind receptionist who patiently explained the paperwork, to Mary in pre-op who took the time to walk me through everything and put me at ease, to the nurses who cared for me so warmly and seamlessly every interaction reflected genuine kindness. Even with so many patients moving through each day, your office never feels impersonal. That really stands out. I especially appreciated my doctor checking in multiple times to reintroduce himself and make sure I felt informed and comfortable. Thank you all for the compassion and professionalism you show. It truly radiates throughout your practice. And I'm especially grateful to be leaving with good news yay! I don't have to return for five whole years!

STAY AWAY FROM WESTERN WA MEDICAL GROUP IF YOU WANT TO BE HEALTHY! Horrible place to start taking…read morecare of your health! They DO NOT answer their phone lines. Instead, you have to leave a VM. Their phone number is: 425.259.3122 I was referred by my doctor (by FAX) to the above facility for an endoscopy on October 1st, 2020. My doctor sent me a letter saying if they don't call you for an appointment, I have to get them to schedule one. Nobody called me, so after waiting for one week, I called them. Their tape says I have to wait ten business days for WESTERN WA MEDICAL GROUP to contact me to schedule an appointment. After ten business days, I called every day, left VMs, and nobody called me back. Lucky me, one day, I got them during their lunchtime and was able to talk to a live person from an answering service. She was very friendly and took care of me. After talking to her the next day, a scheduler coordinator called me to schedule my consultation visit w/a doctor. I asked her why it took over 14 business days to call me back. She said they are super swamped; they get 2,000 fax referrals per day (I don't believe it). My question was, why don't you hire more people to help you? She said they are in the process of doing so. I requested to talk to her supervisor. The supervisor was not available and was supposed to call me back in 2 business days. It's two business WEEKS, and nobody called me back. How come they are still in the business is beyond me? Meanwhile, I called different gastroenterologists, talked to a live person (not a tape) got an appointment! My new GI doctor has over 100 reviews w/five stars. Western WA Medical Group doctors have three reviews of 1 star and one review of 4 stars. Unbelievable! STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR HEALTH!

I was the driver for a friend who came here for that 5 year thing called a colonoscopy. 5 stars…read morefor being able sign up on line. I checked out the website and it looked super easy. 5 stars for the operating room intake person. 4 stars for the clinic intake, i walked in and it's a little confusing where they want you to be, because they have a separate door, a card table for intake, but no one sitting there. Then they get upset (I saw this with 4 different people - who i pointed in the right direction) when you go looking for them to intake you. One star for the prep instructions, 2 days of clear liquid diet? I have never had that before, I couldn't believe it when I read it, twice!! 1 star for combative anesthesiologist who apparently doesn't like questions or believe in collaborative medicine. Plus it could because she was moonlighting here (she mentioned working at a hospital in Tacoma). During the course of the conversation she let it be known she was going to use the higher end of the dosage, which came into play later when the post op nurse lacked patience. Insisting the patient should stand up and get into the chair even though patient said they were dizzy and couldn't stand. In pre op, the dr performing the procedure was dismissive of patient concerns when they explained some difficulties previous Dr's had experienced. Dr was highly confident that their extremely skilled hands would not have similar issues. Which calls into question the reason provided for needing to come back in a year. The dr was not able to complete the procedure with a claim due to poor prep, although discharge paperwork says clean colon with pictures of a clean colon. Not sure what it all means because the dr was too busy for post op conversation with me or the patient. When the patient was released, they were very unstable. It took two of us to safely get them to the car. Based upon my first hand experience and observations, I know I will be looking for a different dr.

The staff were kind-hearted and proficient finding polyps requiring a colectomy at St Michael's thankfully 100% covered by Medicare benefits also springing for respite care on Bainbridge Island afterward where they moved me to a private room when my first roommate played the television all night long. The other day I got my follow-up colonoscopy (from the same crew of friendly physicians) that went just as smoothly as the first time if not better. The surgery at St. Michaels looked good, but I need to eat more fiber. Recently moving I started eating out while unpacking, falling in love with Indian food, so I've got a larder stocked with chicken tikka masala after the recent passing of inventor Ali Ahmed Aslam. Tonight I tried a different simmering sauce. So now I'm apparently flushing my system properly with rice and a happy camper at the moment. Since the colonoscopy prep instructions forbid brown rice, should I eat that instead of boil-in-a-bag long grained white rice for the fiber until my next colonoscopy in five years? During my month rehabilitating from surgery, I housed my cat at Alder Creek Pet Lodge for $900 after tip.

Well , let's be real... no one wants to have to go to the gastroenterologist. The reason I am glad…read moreto be here is that I am having my consult for an endoscopy that puts me one step closer to weight loss surgery (there's a LOT of steps and this is one). Additionally, I am here to be screened for colon cancer after 2 of my friends under 40 have been diagnosed in the last 18 months. Can't be too careful. Scheduling was a mixed bag... the wait to talk to someone after you push the right button was kind of long, but I feel like if you know that going into it, it's ok because you can be prepared to wait. Once I did get on the phone with them, scheduling was painless and quick. They asked questions actually wanted to know WHY I was scheduling - not expecting me to know, since I am not a medical professional - and making sure they set me up with the right kind of provider. I initially was scheduled next month, but I called again to see if there was a sooner opening and there was! So, they set me up with that. They also made sure I knew how to get here. Getting parked and into the building was easy - suite 330, so regardless of which side of 2202 you park on, just grab the elevator or stairs to the third floor and follow the signs! Getting checked in as a new patient was surprisingly smooth. They mailed me my paperwork ahead of time, so having that done, I was checked in and waiting in plenty of time for my appointment. Will update on quality of care once I've met with my PA and scheduled with a doctor for a procedure.
