Dr Mohammad retaliated against me because I called my insurance and asked them to try to find an earlier appointment for me. Earlier I contacted her and left a voice note telling her that I am feeling dizzy for some time and been to urgent care couple of times. She called me back and gave me an appointment that is 3 weeks out. I then called my insurance to find an earlier appointment with her or any other doctor. In the insurance manual, it's mentioned that an appointment with a primary care physician should be doable within 10 business days. Few minutes later after calling the insurance, Dr Mohammad cancelled my appointment, told me that I am not welcome in her clinic, and that she won't be my primary care physician anymore. Then she hung up the phone on me. All this and I was desperately needing a referral to a neurologist due to my ongoing dizziness issue. This happened by the mid of the month and Dr Mohammad knows very well that changing my primary care won't take any effect until the beginning of the following month. She didn't really care about my condition and I was stuck in limbo about what to do. Luckily I was able to call my insurance who were able to give me an exception and change my primary care doctor to another one. I called the new one and was able to get an appointment within a few days and I was referred to a neurologist. It's worth mentioning also that when Dr Mohammad cancelled my appointment, I had to go to the urgent care and was advised to go to the ER so I can have a MRI on the brain. ER Doctor recommended that I see a neurologist to whom I was referred to by my new primary doctor. Dr Mohammad's attitude with me is indespicable, unprofessional, unethical, and contradicts that oath she took as an MD. read more

I want to update my ratings with Dr. Sophia as over the 1.5 years she has been very responsive to my medical needs. I love that I can stay in contact with her via email and email her with any concerns I may have. She is quick to respond. My visits with Dr. Sophia are brief but I believe we get to the point of what I need. I appreciate that she is always on top of things and make her patient her priority. Also, my husband is seen by her as well so she's pretty personable and jokes around with us. I like that she makes you feel comfortable and is not serious. I am still hoping for an improvement in staff complying with the HIPAA security & privacy to maintain confidentiality on a patient's info start using the phone to answer and make calls instead of using the speakerphone. I have sat in the waiting room and heard the staff call the patients and hearing their entire name but also I have received calls from the staff looking for another client. I was assigned Dr Sophia Mohammad as my primary doctor back on January and for the first visit I felt as I was not obtaining the best service but decided to stick to her since there was an operation in the next months and I figured we all have "bad days", but last month I realized I made a mistake, here is the details : I fell down on my legs going to the river and wanted to have a check up on my leg since it was bothering a bit and I tried to see her again; It was caos!!!, when I called the main number to make appointment and stated the fact that I wanted to make an appointment the receptionist answered in a rude tone and keep asking me a series of questions , WHAT IS YOU NAME?, LAST NAME? SPELL IT!, PHONE# ADDRESS etc. (I understand you need to ask that but there is a better tone and attitude to it) then i asked her if she has not learned to say "please" or "thank you" then she became even more aggresive tone and stated" I am going to tell the doctor that you are yelling at me" , I replied : " go ahead , and I will tell her the kind of attitude you are having , then she just hung up. Well, I decided to give Doctor Mohammed the benefit of the doubt and figured employee attitude is not directly at fault of employer (I came to found out later I was wrong!!) after emailing the doctor explaining the situation and made an appointment with her for the following week upon arriving at the time agreed on the appoinment the first words that came from the doctor, which at the time she was standing on the receptionist office in the lobby were: " sign right there , pointing to signing sheet, and need to wait , we have another 2 patients ahead of you" (looking at the people at the lobby) i replied: oh,and how long aproximatly would it be? ", she replied " I dont know 30, 40 minutes or more" then I replied : sorry but I am going to need to reschedule, I have an appoitmnet at work and did not know I had to wait that long", she replied " you know what?, you better swith doctores , I dont like you" I replied" you know what , you are right , you are not suppose to talk to me that way, specially just because i need to reschedule due you are taking 30-40 minutes to see me !! and also I believe you nned to be more proffesional with the way you communicate with patients and how to handle your schedule . she replied yelling and moving her hands abruptly: get out! As you see, I was shocked!!, not for being told i was not liked , (I am not expected to be liked by everyone lol) but the reason and the attitude towards me for wanting to reschedule ( I believe I have the right to do so if I was not told I may need to wait for 30-40 min or more to be seen ) Anyways, if you are considering her as your doctor you are already warned! read more

This has to be the worst experience in a medical office in my life. Dr. Sophia clearly does not care about her patients. I arrived 5 minutes late at 4:05. No receptionist to greet you hello. I could hear her on the phone speaking to another patient with attitude. Finally, Dr. Sophia comes out at 4:10 and tells me "You're a little late hun." First off don't call me hun. It's unprofessional. I explained I arrived at 4:05. She nor anyone else didn't greet me until 4:10. The office closes at 4:30. Was it the fact I was 5 min late or it was now 20 mins until closing? Any time I have had any sort of appointment it's 15 min late cancellation. There was no informative arrive 15 min early to fill out paperwork. She agreed to still take me and asked for my medical card. There was no paperwork filled out. I had received a phone call in the waiting room regarding my child and she called me to come back. As I was ending my conversation she rudely told me I need to get off the phone. If she could take something from this review is to check her attitude. As I got to the room she asked me, "Why are you here!?". I didn't get a, "Hi, I am Dr. Sophia, nice to meet you. What brings you in today?". That is professionalism, maybe she missed that day in school. I said, I am here to establish a PCP (primary care provider) and she snapped at me and said, "NO, why are you here!!?" I was so shocked how rude she was being to me. I told her I am here for my infected knee. I was so shocked by the way I was being treated. I couldn't help but fight tears. She said let me see. And I FELT SO VIOLATED, SHE WOULD ASK ME TO STRIP IN FRONT OF HER. I asked her don't I get a gown to change into? And she looked surprised. I am not dumb or uneducated. She said, "Can't you roll up your pants?" I told her no I can't and started to cry. I told her, "Are you always this rude to patients?" I don't stand for mistreatment regardless of skin color, gender, ethnicity, I treat everyone with respect. She told me it was my fault for coming in late. And I told her, "You're making me cry." I was emotional from being ill and then trying to get help and being mistreated. She then told me, "Well if you're crying I don't know what to tell you. You're crazy!" SHE CALLED ME CRAZY!!!! IMPORTANT RULE TO REMEMBER IN THE MEDICAL FIELD YOU DON'T CALL SOMEONE CRAZY. I told her this, "Are you really calling me crazy right now, do you tell all your patients that?" And she threw her hands in the air and told me, "You know what, I am not seeing you, I'm done." At that point I really couldn't do much. I didn't feel safe. I said no more to her and I walked out. I cried more. I have never been treated this way. Racist and denying my medical care when I really needed it. WHAT KIND OF DR IS THIS? WHERE DID SHE GET HER LICENSE? DO NOT GO HERE. I WANT TO PROTECT MY COMMUNITY. Even worse I got home and tried to find care because I NEEDED to be seen and realized SHE STILL had my medical card. I had to drive back and the office closes at 4:30. I was there at 4:34 knocking on the door to retrieve my card. She clearly was in a rush to close and go home. THE ONLY GOOD PART IS SHE OPENED THE DOOR AND GAVE MY CARD BACK. It took a lot out of me on this visit here. All I needed was a doctor to care for me. She clearly is in it for money not to help people, especially others of other ethnicity. It shows true character how she doesn't address calling me crazy in her response. And she didn't ask me to get in a gown first as all other medical professionals I've seen. I have nothing to gain by writing a honest review. If you read other reviews you will notice she claims everyone has a attitude on the phone. She is simply trying to cover her own tracks. I went there because I need a doctor, got new insurance with a new job, which blows, anyway, I find someone close to home somewhat, thought I would give it a try - she refused to see me because I did not have cash to pay her...??? When did I have to pay cash for an appointment? I have a credit card and a check - is she too cheap to buy a "square" to run credit cards? Quick note: This is my experience only and if anyone is in dis-agreeance I am very happy you had/have a great experience. I absolutely hate leaving negative yelp reviews. But today, I can't seem to get passed Dr. Sophia M's unwillingness to ask questions or to take in new patients. The one star is for the first assistant I had spoken with 8/28. I am beyond upset I forgot her name but she was absolutely lovely and understanding of my looking into primary care physicians. I called in and the assistant was very quick and kind. She ran my insurance and asked me why I needed a primary care. I let her know so I can receive referrals and have a primary to come back to for my health. She called me the next day and let me know they can have me and also my insurance didn't cover much. She suggested if I wanted to keep searching or set up an appointment. Her words "It is a lot of money and I do understand hardship right now, how about if this isn't an urgent matter, you can give us a call back at anytime and we can set you up that appointment". I did let her know that Mohammad was my #1 pick but I was still doing my research. Fast forward to yesterday. Yes, two months out because life happens. I reached out via email to Dr. Sophia's office and asked if I can set up my first appointment for a primary care physician because I would love to meet with her. Her response today: " Due to the pandemic and limiting patients in-office, We are not doing in-person visits unless something is urgent at this time. In addition, video calls are only being done if patients have matters that require further evaluation or medication refills." I was completely unsure of what this means.... is she accepting or not? I let her know I was aware of the video call and re explained why I would like to meet with her. With very few words, she said she can't help me and I need to see a certain specialist. So me reading the signs, I honestly thought she wasn't taking new patients. So I let her know that she should contact the insurance I have and correct the "accepting new patients" so no one else gets confused. Honestly, wasn't being rude, just didn't want anyone to have the run around because it is a really big pain. Especially during this time. She proceeded to answer back: " I am still accepting new patients. We offered you an appointment months ago. Based on your concerns this would be better suited with (type of specialist she told me to see). Thanks " After the unnecessary response of offering me a spot "months ago", the cold "thanks" and the fact that I see why the bad reviews. I'm glad I didn't take that spot offered.. months ago. For Dr. Sophia to be a primary of many... I would think she would understand that with my insurance she has on file only accepts to see that type specialist if I go through my primary care physician to get a referral. (some of 1 star reviews that are on here mentions similar referral concerns) I'm not in need of dealing with a very cold Dr. like that and wish her best in her practice. I just hope that she does not skip the next person with not so great insurance that only has the ability to see a care physician like her as well as her not making them feel irrelevant. I don't even want to give one star. I have been a patient with Dr.Sophia for about a year now, and it's sad to see her performance decrease drastically with every visit. At first, she was very friendly and thorough, which I admired. However, when I became a regular patient she started to rush through her explanations and would be VERY STINGY with filling out prescriptions. Here's what she'll do: Dr. Sophia will try every little loophole before actually catering to what you want. She will try and convince you to take over the counter remedies so she won't need to prescribe THE ACTUAL MEDICINE needed. By doing this, she prolongs her patients' condition and it worsens over time. I emailed her letting her know that the medicine she prescribed me made it worse and she told me to finish it. Why on earth would I continue using something that makes my skin worse? EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. She does not consider what her patients want and refuses to listen to any further input. I had an appointment last week with Dr. Sophia Mohammad, where I asked about a dermatology referral. She was very personable, empathetic about my situation, and efficient. She assured me she would send in a paper referral that day so I could see a dermatologist ASAP. She said if I didn't receive a letter from my insurance in 2 weeks, I could give her a call. She also said she would email me that evening confirming that she did indeed send in the referral. I thanked her, I left. Great experience. I did not receive a confirmation e-mail that night, but didn't think too much of it. A week passes, and my insurance lets me know they have not received a referral from Dr. Sophia. I wanted to confirm that Dr. Sophia actually sent in the paper referral. I knew it hadn't been two weeks yet, I just wanted to check to make sure the letter had been sent. I called the office and the assistant/receptionist WAS SO RUDE. I honestly feel like crying right now because I have never been treated like that. The receptionist kept cutting me off and saying things like: "It takes 2 weeks for the doctor to send in a referral!" "You can't just call in to rush your doctor! You have to trust your doctor!" "I'm not going to check. If she said she would send it that night, she sent it that night." I just wanted to check, it's not that uncommon. Obviously, she was extremely unwilling to help. Dr. Sophia had stressed that I could call her if I wanted to check in, or had any concerns. She was so so friendly. The receptionist made it very clear that those kind of inquiries are NOT welcome. She said I couldn't talk to the doctor, nor did she let me leave a message for her. She just hung up on me. The way doctors and staff at this office treat patients should really be on the same page. I wouldn't describe this office as patient friendly AT ALL, even though the actual doctor was amazing. So incredibly disappointed because I really like Dr. Sophia, and now I am going to be uncomfortable going back to the office because of the assistant. Can't believe that just happened. read more

The worst doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Sophia M. mandated $80 cash for doctor visit while my insurance clearly states $20 copay. When I visited, I told them my insurance is copay $20, but she said "you would not be seen if you do not pay $80 in cash." She said she would reimburse when they receive the payment from the insurance company. I was not happy with it but did pay $80 in cash and asked for a receipt to prove that I did pay. Yesterday, I received the benefit explanation from my insurance company, it showed that she got paid for the amount the insurance would allow and my only responsibility is $20 copay. I went there today and ask for the refund and the assistant said she was not available and would call me later. Later, the doctor called me back and told me she would not refund me the money since the insurance company did not pay her the full amount that she charged. She said it's not her issue that the insurance company decided not to pay the full amount and insisted that I have to cover the "not allowed amount" from the insurance company. I told her that's how insurance works. Doctors have agreed to the contracts with the insurance company and it has nothing to do with the patients. She said it's not her problem and refused to refund me the money. I am almost 60 years old and I have been insured all my life and she is the first one and the only one who showed me how greedy and so unethical. The only thing she cares is $$$ and so sad that she is so young. I wonder how many patients got scammed by this doctor just because the patients are not familiar with how insurance works. read more

I went here for a checkup and the staff are not the friendliest, but they did not take too long. The waiting room inside the place is not too big either. The chairs are not as comfortable as other family practices either. I scheduled an appointment as well so I was assuming they would take me in right away. However there were about four people in front of me which I did not understand because everyone has an appointment.i probably waited 25min max and then it was finally my turn. On the the other hand Doctor Sophia Mohammad is very friendly and explains what she is going to do and she explains every step she does. In the end there is a 50/50 chance I will come back to this practice and hope next time that when I make an appointment it would be more quicker than the first time I went. read more
