First and foremost I want to say that we are blessed to have Ace Hardware still around in our neighborhoods. Ace is in a class by itself. Over the years Ace Hardware has evolved into a state of the art hardware store. I was shopping at the Ace Hardware at 3404 West 95th St in Evergreen Pk IL today and got help from one of the store worker to see if they carry an item I was looking for, needless to say as usual Ace came through again. Ace Hardware is a local trusted helpful Hardware store. Lowe's, Home Depot and Menard's is ok, but Ace Hardware is still in a class by itself. As soon as a worker see you he or she are ready to help you ASAP, unlike the big box stores. The cashier is very informative as well to assist you in finding the items you're looking for. The cashier will call immediately to get someone to assist you. Ace Hardware never cease to amaze me when I visit their store. They are a professional establishment. Ace Hardware you made my day. I had them pick up my 4-year-old snowblower for repair would not start. After the guy looked at it I got a phone call and they said that it's low compression and it's not worth fixing. Had a local guy look at it and all he did was clean the carburetor and it's working like a charm. Sounds like they didn't want to take the time to fix it. Very disappointed. Please take your machines elsewhere for repair. read more

1/2 star - Don't try to take your own blank car key in to get duplicated because they will get angry and kick you out of their store. Such was my experience today when I questioned why they would not make a key for me. They had no real answer For my question. I suspect it's because they try to sell you their own high-priced key product. After being confrontational, one of their employees literally opened the door and asked me to leave! read more

Enzo and Earl were extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. The store employees have consistently shown knowledge and diligence when answering questions and providing suggestions to solve an issue. Alternatively, when I go to big box hardware stores, I typically leave frustrated after searching for someone to provide assistance and either not encountering an associate or receiving subpar information. When I finally find an associate, they either can't answer my questions or the answer they give is not accurate. Also as a woman waiting for assistance in big box stores, I have been passed over as men who come after me and need assistance get waited on. Every time I visit this Oaklawn Ace store, I leave confident that my questions have been answered, and I'm typically looking forward to tackling my next home project. Also, it feels like I just went next store to ask my friendly and knowledgeable neighbor for assistance with a question about a home project that I'm on stuck on. Keep up the excellent work! I actually stopped by this Ace Tuesday 11th of June around 7pm. In search of a flat top grill that I had seen on the weekly ad. I really wanted to give my business to this local store, since I had read really good reviews. I sure was surprised after I spoke to Scott, the store rep. I wanted to see if he could tell me why the weekly ad showed a different style of grill than what the box picture showed. I even asked if he could help me open a box to see which grill came inside the box, Scott simply said no. I then checked other stores online (Menards). I found the same exact part number at Menards for $30 cheaper, I was already at Ace so I asked Scott if he could price match or even just give me a 10%. I was really not trying to have to drive to Menards, I wanted to continue giving my business to Ace. Unfortunately, all I got from Scott was a "you are better off buying it at Menards". I was shocked Scott didn't even try to find out why there was two different pictures for the same part number, and he didn't even try to win any business, he simply sent me off to Menards. No wonder why these smaller stores are losing business. Sad its happening in our neighborhoods, but its a sad truth we will have to accept. I've visited this ace for several years, I'm a African American resident of evergreen park. The customer service has always been great, until today. The cashier challenged the authentication of my $20 bill. She raised it up to the sun light several times then went so far as to ask her coworker to look at it. This took place while several people waited in line behind us. The other cashier was ringing up a Caucasian gentleman and they didn't question his $20 bill. The gentleman offered to compare his $20 bill to my $20 bill, needless to say they were both the same. The cashier said she's never seen a $20 bill like these before. Unbelievable. Well after a long day of shopping for outdoor furniture we wanted to fill our tiki torches but found our canisters were empty. I called to my go to menards and home depot but didnt actually feel like going that far. I spoke to someone on the phone who confirmed they had the canisters but was closing in ten minutes. I was behind a train and thought I wouldn't make it but at 5:58 I arrived. I would never go to a store when closing as I used to retail and its rude but I actually knew what I wanted, was paying with a cc and spoke to someone letting them know I was on my way. The door was locked at 5:58 and someone I assume an employee was standing there. I explained I just called and only needed two things. He and another employee on a bike made up excuses why customer service means nothing and how I should not shop local and I should continue going to menards and home depot. I see the ads about smaller more people friendly associates at Ace. Its not true don't believe the hype read more

I went to the store to get my lawnmower repaired. They wanted a 50 dollar deposit to look at it. Got to register and these idiots claim they had problems with there credit card system. Come to find out they charged my credit card 500 dollars. They wasted my time on a Sunday. Then I wasted my work day Monday trying to get my money back in my account. The whole experience was a nightmare. Mike was the person responsible for the nightmare. Called the store manager Gary and he got very rude when I asked him to call my bank. I will never go back there again. Shoppers beware. read more

I have been going to this store for 20 years and they have always been the most professional and helpful hardware store around. This is always my first stop before going to Home Depot. They are never shy about returned merchandise either. They are very accommodating. All Evergreen Park residents should go here as their first stop for tools and service. =) read more

i love this store! i had a broken window and i was driving all town to replace the glass and everybody told me that i have to wait about 1 week.
