Hello, I am currently on a payment plan for my gas bill. My records did show that I was down to an almost a zero balance on my gas bill-1 pymt left!--, yet on that last payment a few months ago, they suddenly said I owed $1,000 Plus.. WHY??? BECAUSE I BECAME CHRONICALLY ILL DURING THE PANDEMIC, I WAS UNABLE TO RETURN TO WORK AND HAD TO SIGN UP FOR A PAYMENT PLAN... I guess I'm now considered a senior citizen and am not able to physically work due to my health restrictions blah blah blah.. My issue is that once on a payment plan I've been told that a person has to call the credit department directly to make a payment!! I've been trying to call and get through to this credit department for 10 days but the AI that they use is so freaking stupid that I cannot get through! I have been told I need a live person to make a payment on a payment plan.... I was just on hold for 1 1/2 hours "freaking stupid"-that I cannot pay my bill! I'm sorry, I'm very angry right now I was just on hold for over an hour and a half!!! They close at 6:00 p.m. and I was still on hold at 6:30 p.m....WT_????heck??? What am I to do now? I absolutely cannot pay my bill- I need to do it on the phone... I cannot send a check I cannot leave the house at present.... I've unfortunately had to deal with Eversource as there are no other companies from whom to get electricity from in Eastern CT. Over the years I have had personal items stolen by service technicians, suffered abysmal customer service, and employees who follow "policy" as they see fit or when its convenient. I will say that I was not saddened in the least to learn that the state I was moving to does not have Eversource as a utility company. How the CT state legislature has essentially helped this company establish a monopoly is beyond me! The only value this company has is in that they are the only option available. Strongly advise anyone thinking about moving to CT--Don't! Service charges that are more than TRIPLE the cost of the actual power used is unconscionable. The cost of electricity and the delivery fee is absurd. The delivery fee cost more than the actual usage fee of my electricity. I have seen electricity bills that cost more per month than a mortgage or car payment and that is an average size home. This needs to be controlled, limiting what can be charged for delivery fees. Had solar panels installed and was told by Eversource that I would have to pay $2000 to have the transformer replaced on the street. Didn't know why I should have to pay for Eversource to update their infrastructure but I paid it anyway. One year later, still waiting on Eversource to replace the transformer. Eversource had there pole fall on my tree. Then they strapped the pole to my tree. The next morning I woke up the tree and pole fell across my driveway. It's been 2 weeks and the pole and tree are still down across my driveway. This is just unacceptable. And horrible customer service. read more

Read a lot about Home Energy Solutions- a program that several utilities participate in to help energy consumers conserve home use of energy. Applied (income eligible) and was approved. My condo unit has electric baseboard heat. Thermostat only works on high. I turn it off at night to save $$$ but have to turn it on during the day. Takes 1-2 hours to heat up and then becomes stifling. One room has a broken baseboard heater that does no function at all. Fifty year old double paned windows (seals broken) are warped and have large gaps which allow the wind to enter the condo. The so called energy audit lasted 1.5 hours during which the technician delivered a ridiculously inappropriate monologue about his personal life. He moved off his chair to change 5 lightbulbs. His co-worker installed weatherstripping on 1 door. Insulation was not checked. No recommendations regarding heating conservation or possible improvements. I was informed that as long as the windows were double paned, that is all the utility companies are concerned about. Tried to follow up twice with Eversource to see if I could possibly find another source of help. No return call. The program did not live up to its stated purpose and the experience was a huge waste of time. read more

I would be generous by saying that their response to the storm was terrible. I live in an apartment complex which has 240 apartments. I am sure some of the apartments are occupied by elderly tenants that are at risk for medical emergencies. We have been out of power since Tuesday and now it's Saturday. They restore single family homes before restoring a building that has a non functioning elevator which is essential for medical emergencies. They are just authorizing companies from out of state to come help with the restoration process when they had the chance on Thursday Eversource was very unprepared to deal with this natural disaster and what is even more disappointing, is that I thought they would have learned a lesson from Superstore Sandy. Their response then was just as bad.. Right now, I'd rather live off the grid than deal with them. Adding insult to injury is that they raised our rates a few months ago but there will be no repercussions because they are the only game in town The hell with Eversource. When I called to tell them I never received a bill they told me I signed up for paperless which knowing myself I would never do because I do everything on paper and I was told I was lying. I asked them to switch it back to paper and was told they could not help me with that I had to go online. To whom it may concern, I began paying for electricity at my rental unit in Hartford over a month ago. It is now 1/3/2023 and I still don't have any service. I have been paying for service since 12/6. I was charged 34.67 for a reconnect fee. But it was never reconnected. I was also charged 160 for the electrician to tell me that the meter was off (at Eversource's recommendation). I also spent 5 hours of my time waiting for them to come, and I am generally paid $36 an hour. Between my initial call at 8 am and them informing me there would be no help yesterday, I waited for 5 hours. I also have had it not rented, at $1400 a month, for that time since it was shown without electricity. So all told, I estimate: $1400+175+160 = $1735 in my cost. Now, I know I can't reasonably ask Eversource to pay for $1735. But certainly, they can pay for the electrician and my time, and reimburse me the reconnect fee since they never did that work. I am currently on hold with a beeping noise at 8:08, after having spoken to a representative for a half an hour and then waiting on hold. I then spent more than another 15 minutes dealing with her, and now (maybe?) the electricity will be on at 10? She and the previous representative were helpful. However, why do I now have to fill out a form to get reimbursed? I did not cause this scenario. In addition, there is no way to avoid this happening with another tenant in the future, according to the representative. 1/4/2023: 6 am: I had to drive to Hartford (an hour for me) to confirm that they had, indeed, turned on service. No one called, as they had promised to do, and when I called they said they could not confirm service by usage, even though I left a light or two on for that purpose. I had cleaners coming in to ready it for the next renter, and needed to know whether or not they could use a vacuum. So add 2.5 hours to my time wasted. read more

Just showed up and cut the power for several hours, was not any type of emergency. Tried calling the customer service number and transferred to 3 different people whom each told me they couldn't help me. Would say I can't wait to be on Solar but because of the meters they installed you need it changed as well, which I've been waiting for 2+ months for that as well. But then again why would a power company want to support anybody going to Solar. For what they charge would think that you might get a little bit better service. read more
