Would have chosen zero stars if it would have let me. Customer service is non existent. Tried to find out what and why work was done on the lines to and on our house without notifying us. Just showed up and cut the power for several hours, was not any type of emergency. Tried calling the customer service number and transferred to 3 different people whom each told me they couldn't help me. Would say I can't wait to be on Solar but because of the meters they installed you need it changed as well, which I've been waiting for 2+ months for that as well. But then again why would a power company want to support anybody going to Solar. For what they charge would think that you might get a little bit better service. read more

My tenant was without gas (Eversource supplies gas to Torrington): I called to make an appt on Fri, and of course the earliest they would come is Monday, "Someone needs to be there and they'll call just before they come" I am told. So..... I'm at work, on the phone with a customer, and get a call from "Unknown Caller". I ignore it. Still on the phone with customer and 5 minutes later Unknown calls again. I just miss the call, check voice mail, and it was Eversource. "Sorry to have missed you - you'll have to re-schedule". Now I CAN'T call the number back, customer service CAN'T call the technician (who is probably backing down the driveway at this point), and so I have to make another appt for Tues. This is archaic, time consuming, and beyond frustrating. Seriously Eversource?? My rug cleaning company is FAR superior (kudos Stanley Steemer) and honestly, a clean rug isn't anywhere near as important as an elderly man being without a stove and hot water for 5 days. Eversource - let's pretend it's 2022 and let's do away with the secrecy of Unknown Caller and the incompetence of not being able to reach Unknown Caller from your end. OR if this is too much to ask (probably), how about informing YOUR customers that the call notice will read Unknown and not Eversource, as one would obviously expect. read more

Illegally gave out my private information including my address and who knows what else to a neighbor who was a stranger who reached out and requested their contacts. I am not sure how I even got in the middle of this mess but apparently the neighbor thought their energy was switched to Eversource without their consent or something by our Landlord. It didn't effect me at all but what was worrisome to me and a neighbor friend of mine was Eversource gave the neighbor who had an issue with my landlord my information including my name and home address without contacting me and did the same to my neighbor friend. To me this is wreck less and dangerous. They did not know who that neighbor was or what their intent was I will be following up with a complaint with the FTC. read more

These lineman work their hardest to restore power during difficult times, living in the Northeast people need to be more prepared...get a generator and stop complaining. Long hours and annoying people don't help get to the job done any quicker. They work safe so maybe people need to appreciate that a little more. Set up a payment plan thanks to a compromised debit card and all the drama that goes along with that. We mail in a payment for the required about before the due date and they cash it. A few days later they send someone to my house to shut it off claiming they weren't paid. A phone call to customer service reveals that though they admit to taking my money, they don't consider it part of the payment plan because we didn't call it in. They take my money but didn't like how I gave it to them. No joke. Now they require the full sum to which I explain I don't have it, this is why I set up a payment plan. Because my money isn't good enough, they can't set up a new payment plan. I tell them despite taking my money you are about to shut off power on my wife and son. This woman has the audacity to say that they're the only provider in my area and I just have to deal with it. Are you kidding me? Rude, unprofessional, and unethical. Its now day 2 and the power hasn't been turned on even though i have active service. I called in and asked when they plan on turning it on and they said today, i asked when and they said whenever they get around to it. My food is starting to go bad in the fridge and i cant cook food for my kids but I doubt eversource will care. We have to live in the dark because of incompetence. So get this, in 2022 you have a electrical technology company that cannot activate power from an office, but instead they have to turn on power in person! They literally send an electrician in a vehicle using gas and labor costs to go flip a switch on a meter... Think about that one. read more

We have been trying to start service for my daughter rental apartment in Boston, MA. Not only it seems like an impossible task (we'll have to wait at least a week to see if they can establish her account. We started process three days ago, everything needed was submitted) but today she cried after taking to EE representative. Today my daughter called to see how the progress is going. The women customer service personnel is very nice and helpful but today the customer service lady had to redirect my daughter to the IT person to answer a question about the account. That men was so rude, condescending and dismissive that my daughter cried after speaking to him. He basically refused to answer any questions saying that he didn't know who she was, etc. (She has account number and submitted id and everything needed). He didn't even want to answer general questions. My daughter has been living in Boston for three years so she is used to the famous New England rudeness but this guy was special. A tree cam down across the street from our house and knocked the cross arm off the pole in front of our house. We where the only hous that lost power it took Eversource three days to restore our power. The line crews are excellent there's just not enough of them. The foreman even apologized and said he was ashamed to say he worked for them. Eversource management has cut staff to the point where their not effective anymore. We have a tree in the front yard that is very close to the power lines about 10 ft Eversource said that 8 ft from the power lines is the limit of their responsibility. Offered to mail me a paper check that I would receive before the culmination of my next billing period. Without any notice or warning, Eversource showed up one morning and decided to dig up the front of our building,breaking and lifting all the brick pavement in order to install some wire to the gas pipe. In doing so, again, without notice, cut and sever our sprinkler poly pipe, without noticing owner of the building. Had we not been at home that morning and shut off the water, the sprinkler system would be on later the day and water would back flow to the basement, flooded the front of the building and cost much damage to our building. After they installed the wire, they just left the sever pipe buried, without telling anyone and just poured asphalt hastily over the pavement and be done with it, leaving all the bricks, traffic zones, and the sever pipe behind. Utterly irresponsible and unacceptable. It has been over a month now and complete silence and inaction from Eversource to fix pavement and our sprinkler line or compensate us for the damage. read more

Truly of I could give ZERO stars I would. First off, I will admit I paid a bill late. I usually carry a balance however, I pay my bills and haven't ever had a utility shut off. I thought I dod paya my bills while navigating the new EVERSOURCE (which is a joke of a name) online with the new and confusing website if you have had and electic. I thought I made a payment to avoid loss of power, I was late in making my payment by 3 days. I'm in a middle of a move, intense job and this thing called life. No excuses just the facts. I'm instructed to call customer service and of course is midnight so I have to wait until the next day. I'm informed there's there's an out standing balance of $35 + security deposit of $279. I'm not happy however I pay because I need hot water (plain and simple). Note: it's Friday when I pay the balance and security deposit. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I disagree as this is the first time my service was shut off and it's 3 days late. Not a month, not a week or 5 business days. Supervisors are busy, they'll call back. So, i expext "them" to flip a switch (thats how they shut it off, right?) and turn the sevice on...Ms. J a technician will be sent to your home on the next business day. Which is 2 days away! So in essence, my bill is up to date and I have to go the weekend without hot water and must be home to allow access to the meter. Oh and don't forget it's an ALL day sevice call! Oh and of course insult to injury, the "supervisor" has 24 - hours to call me back AND no they don't work on weekends so essentially I'm SOL. read more

We've been dealing with this company for years. Every time there's significant snowfall, by which i mean beyond 4", and we lose power, it's an ordeal. A tree fell on lines down the road - 8 days to restore power. It was a big tree, but it was a couple hundred feet from the highway. We're by no means remote. That was a few years ago. We had an ice storm and damage to the lines in front of the house, reported it. After 6 hours their site updated as power restored um, no. An eversource truck actually drove ny our house that time and we flagged him down. Took a few more hours. And now, yest erday at 630pm​​ it went out. No estimate until 840ish, then they said 930pm. Snaps back on at 905. Great! I fall asleep, content. The power is off again when i wake up. My phone charged 20% overnight, so clearly it had shut off not long after it came on. It's now 518pm. We haven't been given an estimate all day. The house is down to 57 degrees, everything in the freezer has been lost. Their site claims 5 or fewer people without power here - there's 9 homes in this development and the whole road is down, up to and including the Hannaford 3 miles away. So finally we get an email! It says 1-3 f****** DAYS!! They have to call in help from OUT OF STATE! What do we pay you for? You DOUBLED RATES! And we have days without power?? This storm was forecast for a WEEK and a HALF! Good god this company is a useless f****** monopoly that consistently under-prepares for every single major storm because they don't want to pay the labor to keep the POWER ON. Their profits matter more than our heat and food? What about the elderly and disabled? THREE DAYS to restore power on the main highway? The ONE highway? Absolutely, unequivocally pathetic. read more

After many conversations with Michael Babineau and Eversource they promised that no cutting will be done during the Pandemic. Afterall, with new looming lockdowns, stress on the rise and the only place to feel safe is your backyard, privacy is playing a major role in our communities. Good for them, this is how big companies should act to help their communities in a time of need. On Day Eversource was working on the powerline right outside my son's window on Sunday Morning at 5 A.M. I went out upset and had an altercation with them about this.  About a Month later, with no notice, Eversource came down and leveled every tree and brush near my house to the ground. When I called about this, I spoke to Michael Babineau of Eversource, he said they were doing this, and had reminded me of the previous altercation about a month ago. This is a very stressful time for a big company like Eversource to have vindictive motives and lash out on the community. I would think Eversource should think of community relations in a stressful time before acting in any situation let alone acting vindictive.  There was no immediate concern for cutting and no impending danger to the lines. This act of carnage left our property with no privacy, opening viewing for every car and every person walking by. Compounded by our property being on an intersection with the cape cod bike trail where everyone stops, sometimes they gather, talk, yell safety concerns about traffic and overall busy areas. The trees provided privacy and noise barriers in a time where privacy is needed most. This has caused undue stress to my family. To add further problems, the next day we found injured and dead birds in our backyard, they killed a morning dove that is protected by the migratory treaty act. read more

They ask you to verify who you are and verify what your address is but if someone else makes an account under your name they just let it slide... kinda weird crap... they make you wait a long process to shut anything down but when it comes to getting paid they harass you.​ I was also incarcerated and tried to get them to turn off services under my name and they said they needed to verify it was me... so how you let someone open a account under my name then tell me oh well you gotta wait we will get back to you in 3 months lol... When our lights and appliances started flickering I called Eversource. It turns out somebody (likely the water company while working on our street) had accidentally cut and then repaired the power lines running underground to our home. The power shut completely. Within about 90 minutes of calling Eversource a crew from Boston came and assessed the problem and then a crew from somerville worked tirelessly to repair the line. Eversource realized it would take more than a day-- so they hooked my house up to a generator so we could function. (It's important to have a working refrigerator and stove when you have a toddler!) In total it took about 36 hours to repair everything. They even patched the street and reseeded the lawn perfectly. They were the nicest crews and I am so appreciative of their fast work to repair our power. read more

And now hold on to our credit balance for over a month and say I have to wait an hour on hold to fix YOUR MISTAKE???? Then when you call they answer and refuse to set up service because they only handle certain things at certain times-however they will stay on the phone and argue with you about it for longer than it would've taken to solve the quick issue. Eversource is a complete scam. Being you have no choice in companies, they charge an insane delivery charge which is always way higher than your actual usage. For a small 2bed/1bath my bills are over $350 sometimes up to $500 now since natural gas "went up" and that is with all heaters/AC OFF and my husband and I wear sweatshirts and sweatpants so we don't use any heat. Talking to a real person at Eversource is next to impossible, but once you get someone on the phone, they transfer you in circles until you give up and hang up. I've requested REAL meter reads which they decline. I've requested an actual manger to call me, which weeks have gone by and nothing. Be very careful and check all your bills. It actually doesn't matter because if you dispute anything they will just cut off your service, so you have no choice but to pay even if you can't get a reasonable response on why your electric is bill is triple to quadruple normal rates. I can't wait to move out of CT for the sole reason of not having to use Eversource. read more
