I love this place!…read more It is small compared to other climbing gyms, but personally, I prefer the routes/setting here when compared to Vital. The walls are great. The staff is great. The yoga and fitness classes rock. Also, one of the reviews says there are no showers/towels here. Not true! There's only one shower in each locker, but you can clean up! Climbing is such a great exercise. It has changed my body completely. This is a great place to do it. With all of that being said, there are a few issues here that stopped me from giving a five star review: - I wish there were more evening hours. I would get way more use out of 10-11 than the 6-7am slot. I often find I miss a day or am cut short by the closure. That goes triple for weekends. 8pm is way too early to shut down! - More climbing classes beyond intro would be nice! I want to figure out how to get better! The sessions with Franz are cool. Even more please! - Finally, this is near Park Slope. I get it. Still, there can be a lot of kids here at times as well as parents who aren't exactly considerate and aware of other customers. I do find myself wishing there were more kid-free hours. They have a whole room to hang in and their own classes!

I decided to randomly try rock climbing went to check out this spot…read more Immediately the person at the front desk gave me a walkthrough of the space, explained how the system works for the different climbing levels, and made sure I understood which walls would be best to start with. They offer rental shoes and chalk for an additional fee. I also liked how family-oriented the space felt. There's an area where kids can participate too. Also, there's a full gym area! In this place you'll definitely find a way to stay active. One of my favorite "side quests" of the year so far, and I'm definitely planning to return.

The trainers don't reply in a timely manner and wait until 1 hour before a scheduled session to cancel on you. The design of the space is not good. Classes take place in the middle of the gym. Sauna does not get hot enough for any health benefits to actually kick in. You can hear the music from floor in the sauna. Not a relaxing experience at all. The equipment is fine. There are no leg machines but there are an insane amount of upper body machines.

Mixed feelings about this gym…read more Pros - clean gym. Amazing classes. Love the co-working space. The locker room is well maintained Cons - management will push you to join and tell you about offers. Then they ll ignore those offers, so you need to keep on top of it. They said my join date is flexible but decided not to update my join date. Emailed them, and they took over a day to respond. Claimed they did it. But then, when you check your profile, they won't have done it. So you need to chase them and get it done - will offer you joining credits but won't actually add it. They ll also claim its available in the app, but it won't be there. You go back and forth. Now they told me they offer it but I have to call them and let them know what I want to purchase. - when I did the tour, the person giving me the tour mentioned 3 complimentary pilates reformer classes. I got none of that and now they said I can use the non-existent credits to buy those classes. Seriously, she made false offers So if you gotta be on top of the offers, they claim they will provide. Get it in writing. I'm not sure how I want to proceed with this gym. It's a great gym but not so trusting management.

From day one, I felt the class was too structured and more focused on completing an overly ambitious set of tasks than attending to the specific development goals of each child. I went from encouraging my child, to forcing him, to standing in the corner watching him wait by the door until it was time to leave; throughout the course, we received very little feedback, help or assistance from the staff. My child has actually regressed in this class, and I am sorry we ever attended. When I complained about this situation to the owner, I was told that they are not able to cater to the needs of one child. I never expected them to cater to the needs of my child over the needs of others, but yes, I did expect them to make a modicum of effort to find a way for him to be included in the class. They did not. Needless to say, we will not be returning, and I would not recommend this class.

I have been a member at the Prospect Park YMCA since 2021, and this has got to be the most poorly…read moremanaged YMCA I have ever been to. I stayed a member for so long because it's a convenient walk from my house, but I recently left here to join the Life Time and I couldn't be happier. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly from my experience. The good: The pool. You really cannot get this anywhere else in/around Park Slope. That said, it is often crowded, with 4+ swimmers per lane, and the swim lane etiquette is not the best. They have lanes divided by speed - low, low/medium, medium, and fast - but basically I've found there is one fast lane, and all of the rest are slow. It feels like the fast-lane users are either former Olympic / Masters level swimmers, so I have to be in this awful position where I'm getting passed all the time in the fast lane, yet people get angry with me for going too fast in the other lanes. That's just my experience though. The bad: The free weight room. Basically, everything is overcrowded, and the etiquette is horrible. The free weight room has ONE power rack, which is insane for such a large gym. This is compounded by the hoards of teenagers that camp at the gym during peak time, sometimes leading to long queues to use any of the equipment. And the etiquette is some of the worst I have seen. People leave weights lying around on the floor or haphazardly put plates back wherever they feel, leading to a ton of clutter and general chaos. There is usually an attendant in the free weight room, yet they do absolutely nothing. Generally, the staff sucks. They do not greet you and just generally seem disinterested except when they are talking amongst themselves. The ugly: The locker rooms are just horrendous. Everything is filthy with dust everywhere. The lockers are super outdated, busted and rusting all over. There are often cockroaches in the dry sauna. But the worst is the showers. I think that was the final straw for me. It genuinely feels like a prison shower in that half the shower curtains are missing, and I even saw a bunch of blood on one of them. The ceiling is covered in mold; they don't even bother to paint over it. I don't need much, but I at least expect a clean and pest-free locker room. The state of it is shameful honestly. There is also no towel service, which is insane for how much you pay. Meanwhile, Harbor Fitness has towels, and the membership there is $76/month. All of this would be fine out of a low-cost, no-frills gym, but the cost of the regular individual membership is $96 per month, which is just out of line. The value is practically non-existent. They will also try to scam you when you try to cancel, saying there is a 15-day notice period, despite that being against the law in NYS. Bottom line, do yourself a favor and don't join this gym.

I came almost every day and really loved it! The space is bright, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, with high-quality mats and props that make a difference. Everyone was kind and greeted me when I arrived, which feels like such a rare and lovely touch in NYC. Why not a full five stars? The only downside was the mat setup--you're expected to use the one from the previous class, which is often still sweaty, and it's hard to reach the fresh ones underneath. Also, the floors could use a bit more cleaning between classes. I had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this studio. I'll be getting a membership. Oh idea for you: Put a second bar behind the mats for the used ones. Also reach out to the people who do the first time special and ask them how it went and if they want to join.

That said, I'm compelled to tell this community how incredible everyday athlete is. The owner, Tomas, is a genuine, humble, caring person. He employs mature, experienced professionals to work with the children. The staff is very helpful and flexible with requests of all kinds. Coach Mason has literally changed the trajectory of my son's life. He's found a way to engage and challenge him in a fun way (with a small dose of discipline). My son made more progress with Coach Mason in 3 months then he did over 5 years in PT (2x a week). He is a gift. Aside from the fact he is literally the the one of the top ninjas in his class ( and could not do a somersault when he started), this program has given him the confidence to "play" with boys his age (which he was afraid of doing before bc he said they were too "wild"). The other thing I should mention is the space is very clean and well maintained. I strongly doubt that you will find a comparable small business with a combination of outstanding owners, employees and standards anywhere in the 5 boroughs.
