I am sorry to say that we have had a very negative experience at Powerplay and will not return. My child seemed to need some additional attention to his physical development (he is 20 months old and has always been timid in terms of climbing, jumping, etc.), so I was encouraged by the staff after our test class to enroll. From day one, I felt the class was too structured and more focused on completing an overly ambitious set of tasks than attending to the specific development goals of each child. I went from encouraging my child, to forcing him, to standing in the corner watching him wait by the door until it was time to leave; throughout the course, we received very little feedback, help or assistance from the staff. My child has actually regressed in this class, and I am sorry we ever attended. When I complained about this situation to the owner, I was told that they are not able to cater to the needs of one child. I never expected them to cater to the needs of my child over the needs of others, but yes, I did expect them to make a modicum of effort to find a way for him to be included in the class. They did not. Needless to say, we will not be returning, and I would not recommend this class. read more

Our kids didn't notice the difference and they enjoyed the space however if you're used to a clean environment, Powerplay is not the the place for you. It's an ok place if you have nowhere to go on short notice but pretty filthy. You will end up giving your kid a bath immediately afterwords. We had my friend's 30th birthday party here and it was a ton of fun. We rented it after hours so it was closed to the public. We were allowed to bring in food and drinks and they set up tables, balloons and music. The staff was so friendly and attentive. We had such a fun time acting like a bunch of kids. read more

The ladies ! I'm sorry the girls at the front desk need some mental help! They have issues with society. Working in kids field it's inadmissible. The owner need to consider the complains about the girls he's loosing clients. I didn't enroll my daughter because of them! Who want deal with low life non educated little girls ? The facility is big! There's a gymnastics and tumble gym downstairs a play area upstairs and something in the back. We came on a play date to the play area which had a sand pit, ball pit and multiple slides. Kept our little ones entertained. Only downside is that they close at 4! read more

My little one did a trial class here and she had a blast! The instructor was really excellent, he kept the children on task while making it a fun experience. The best balance of both worlds, I felt like my daughter can have a great time but he really seemed to know what he was doing and could help build real gymnastics skills even at the early age of 4 years old! Ultimately, I really wanted to join but could not at the time but intend to give it a go at a later time. Later on, I found out that my daughter's little friend joined and loves it! So I am going to check out the play space and we can do that until I am able to get her started. read more

I almost never have a bad experience on play spaces for kids, but there was something about this one. As soon as we arrived the 2 ladies on the front desk had the worst attitude. They weren't welcoming at all and even though we ask them nicely if we can bring our to go back for water/diapers/etc they said if we needed anything we needed to leave the play space and then come back. The place to leave the shoes and the coats was extremely small, and you couldn't fit more than 3 people at the same time. The open and close door system felt like a jail and once we got inside of the place it felt dirty and like it hasn't been cleaned in forever. Needless to say we left after 10 minutes and didn't even bother to ask for a refund, hope they use to clean the facilities. read more

Came here for the 1st time on a crappy winter afternoon, paid for 2 hours and immediately regretted it when we walked in. Everything has a grubby, dusty vibe like nothing was properly cleaned, like ever. Dad and his toddler were chucking plastic balls at each other, with no regard for who got caught in the crossfire. A few nannies sitting in the corner talking on the phone, while some other bigger kids were also chucking balls at each other in the ball pit. My 19 month old and I toughed it out for the 2 hours, and I wish we didn't. A couple of teenaged boys came in around closing time and started throwing the plastic balls that had fallen out of the pit, which confirmed my suspicions that was the extent of the 'cleaning up' they do. My kid got immediately sick afterwards, which then passed to the whole fam. It goes without saying, we won't be coming back. read more

Our daughter took a semester toddler gymnastics class there. Having been at other gymnastics places, we were disappointed in the facilities and coaching. We tried a semester here for the convenience, but it wasn't worth it, in the end. The Mighty Bears class was too basic, and the facilities are dumpy, unclean and, in places, dangerous. It's cramped and really just doesn't have its act together. To this day, despite many complaints from many people, you can't even access the class schedule online...it hasn't been updated since 2012. Its really too bad, its so convenient to Park Slope and Gowanus, and, if someone really figured out how to run this place well, they'd have a great business. You want your child to have fun and be fit then come here. They have open play time and classes. My daughter and nephew came here to check out what the hype is all about. Lets just say the instructors are wonderful and we are planning to come back for gymnastics that they offer on Saturday. read more

We had a birthday party there and it was, hands down, the best party ever. WAY more fun and varied than similar themed party at The Little Gym. And the price was reasonable. The staff was super attentive and friendly. Lots of attention to safety, but they were still playful and fun. Great with kids. I wouldn't hesitate to take a class there. The facility is great: a zipline, ball pit, two trampolines, an inflatable, bouncy castle thing, climbing wall and lots of other apparatus to play on. Ask any of the dozen 4-7 year-olds that were there for the party and every one will tell you, I would bet, they loved every second. read more

Very dark, unprofessional and depressing place. I tried not to be judgemental and had my child attend thier classes but she never really learned anything from them. Sure, it was fun and kept her active for a while but nothing more than that. For more serious gymnastics training I'd definitely choose somewhere else, which we did and are so happy! The management was extremely unorganized and took forever to answer the most simple question, but they're always very quick in taking money from you. I suspect they won't last another year in the location. Hope Elite NYC or Little Gym will take over! read more

Love this facility. I have taken my Pre-k class her for a few field trips. The staff is always helpful, fun, and engaging.

My wife and I signed up for the play space here for our son and purchased a pass for 10 visits. When purchasing the pass, they had told us that they had no system for tracking the playspace visits, and that we had to hold on to the card itself or the receipt. We should have known then that this was a disorganized and amateur operation. After going a couple of times in the first week, my wife misplaced the card on the way to the playspace (something any parent can understand happening). I ran over with the receipt but by then it was too late: The staff at playspace had told my wife very rudely that they do not track visits (despite the mandatory sign-in sheet) and that it was "just like a MetroCard". They offered to give 2 complementary passes (even though the card had 8 left) and were unwilling to even look at the receipt which clearly showed that the card was purchased 6 days ago. If they could just have looked at the sign-in sheets they'd see that we'd only been there twice but they either 1) don't keep track of the sign-in sheets or 2) don't care enough to be bothered. We've been to pretty much every indoor playspace in Brooklyn and we've never had an experience with staff members that were so rude and inconsiderate. I've already thrown out the complementary passes as we won't be going back there ever again. read more

This place is terrible. I threw my daughters birthday party there and I literally spent two hours arguing with the people who ran the party. It was disorganized, unplanned, and the people were actually rude and aggressive with guests. I will never ever go back there again. I recommend you stay away too! read more

My daughter has been going to Powerplay for gymnastics for years and loves their staff. They have been super accommodating and caring. She also likes their camp: gymnastics in the morning and trips to park, playgrounds, pools and cultural events in the afternoon. Sports fun, diverse kids and staff and reasonably priced. read more

What a disappointing experience. I was looking for a gymnastics class for my toddler (3 years old) and had several email exchanges with Elizabeth at the front. We arranged a trial class for this morning. I spent all morning getting my daughter excited about the class, and when we finally arrived Elizabeth said "oh, there's a $45 fee for a trial class." This was the first they've mentioned it and said it was "industry standard." I've taken my kids to several programs in the neighborhood and never had a fee for a trial class, certainly not one so steep. We've had several trials at other local businesses and wound up signing up for the program--that's the whole purpose of the trial. And if they had been up front that would have been one thing, but they didn't even mention it until I was already there with my daughter, who had to leave confused as to why we didn't get to go to gymnastics class. Just poor business and customer services. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had, and it was only via phone. This facility is un-accommodating and discriminating towards students with special needs. I attempted to plan a trip for my special needs (social/emotional/behavioral students) and they told me that they were unable to accomodate us as they do not have a "licence" to facilitate special needs students in their facility. This is a true injustice to students with disabilities. I WOULD NOT recommend this facility to anyone as they have no sense or ability to provide a safe, positive and fun environment for ALL. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. After the inheritance of ownership by Jean Fritz, I can assure you that this place has gone straight down. From a 5 star gymnastics camp to a babysitting camp, Powerplay has been driven to the ground by Jean Fritz. We had a very bad experience here where an instructor was both physically and verbally abusive to our child. He was clearly not trained to work with young children and demanded they perform exercises, such as pull-ups, that are not even developmentally possible for children in my child's age group. The owner, Fritz, did not address this problem and even lied to us concerning the incident. He also took a month to return our money when we decided to discontinue and withheld over $80 dollars form our refund for a class we did not attend and the class where my son was abused and kicked out of the class! This space is also very dirt. I do not recommend sending any, especially small children, to this gym. read more

Both my children took gymnastics classes here and did Spring break camps. I found this place to be both very professional and super fun for the kids. They have tons of equipment and trained instructors to really teach children how to do age appropriate gymnastics. I would definitely recommend it. read more

This Gymnastics center does not even deserve any stars. Powerplay has no air conditioner, being that Powerplay has been open for about 11 years (they could have insert a Air conditioner and heat) . Well the staff are amazing. The ladies at the desk are so helpful. Coaches as well. A couple of days ago i was inside the facility and i overheard The boss (Fritz) call out for the guy that cleans to be with the campers, I thought about it twice to sign my child into camp. I will not allow someone who has probably no experiance with children near my child. I was their this morning and they did not have enough staff for Powerplay to tke the campers to the pool, so once again they decided to have the cleaning guy go with them. I have no idea what these people are thinking. Powerplay has a Gymnastics camp and to be honest my child did not do enough gymnastics last year. She told me they sit down in the Hot room and just play bord games like really?? My child is 13years old and i signed her up for Gymnastics camp not to sit around. My daughter went to powerplay for gymnastics classes, and she told me that her coach smelled like beer?? and her and her friends in her group noticed it so they told Fritz. Im assuming Fritz knows and hes still working their with children, that ilegal. read more
