I can't tell you how much I appreciate when restaurants do this. I drink a lot of water and it's nice to have it available. The ambiance of the room was nice. Candle on the table, string lights throughout, and local artwork on the walls that feature a new collection each month. Our server/bartender got our drink order right away. I had a glass of wine and my friend ordered one of their cocktails that she said was amazing. For the dining week special we each got an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $30. Appetizers Goat Cheese with Roasted Beets. Overall delicious. Dessert They served us the Dessert Flight and it was stunning. Cannoli, Tirimisu, and Chocolate Pot de Crème. It was fantastic and the perfect ending to a great meal. A new deli/convenience store in Baldwinsville decided to just adopt the dishes name as their store name and run with it. Chopped cheese offers a variety of sandwiches, wraps, halal platters and desserts, along with also serving as a bodega style convenience store. The space has been completely renovated and everything is brand new, bright and clean. They are mostly aimed at take out, with only a couple small tables with chairs for dining in. We tried Chopped Cheese when it first opened. Now, about 6 months later, we have been there several times and have tried several things on the menu. The good: when the food is made well, everything is usually pretty decent. The very first time we went, they had JUST opened and didn't have some ingredients on their menu yet, but we were able to substitute and everything was good. We were even given some free desserts, which were also tasty. The bad: Now that we've been there a couple times, there are definitely some issues. They have a lengthy menu, and even 6 months in, it seems employees are still not sure of all ingredients that go into their offerings, often questioning several times what you ordered off the menu, or physically having to check the menu to see what the ingredients for a dish are. While the service at the register is usually friendly, the service behind the food counter tends to be indifferent to customers and slow. We have, more than once, had our order either made incorrectly or missing items. We have learned to simply check our order before we leave, and they are always fine to remake whatever is wrong, but items being wrong/missing is a common occurrence. Overall, it's a decent spot when you need/want something fresh made, but don't want to sit down, but they definitely have some things they still need to work on.

I ordered for 18 people, for a weekend event at The Ohio State University. Everyone loved the food, from the foodies to the non-adventurous eaters who'd never had Ghanaian food to vegan and gluten-free guests. I ordered a chicken curry, red-red (a hearty dish with black-eyed peas), saffron rice, egusi (a yummy spinach dish that was vegan but tasted like a better version of American creamed spinach), a blend of carrots / cabbage / other root vegetables, fried plantains, and a vegan rice pudding. The vegans and gluten-free eaters did an actual happy dance when they saw that a) Kuukua had listed all ingredients for each dish on the catering lids and b) other than the chicken curry, most of the food was vegan and gluten free. You could tell that everything was made from scratch, with love and attention. My guests loved all the dishes, but the chicken curry, egusi, and saffron rice were the biggest crowd pleasers. Everybody, including the meat eaters, cleaned their plates and went back for seconds. It was also affordable, very comparable in price to catering from local Indian and Chinese restaurants. I've already recommended Asempe to my day-job company for a future event, and I look forward to visiting Kuukua at her pop-up at The Hills Market Downtown.
