Stopped by one Thursday evening with a friend. Place was dimly lit, but seemed like it had nice decorum. Wasn't too much of a crowd, most of the people were at the bar. I ordered the jerk shrimp tacos and my friend had the salmon. Both dishes were very good and so we're the drinks. I had an apple martini, I forgot the name of the other drink, but it was basically a strawberry pina colada. Our waitress and the bartender were pretty nice, no problem with service at all. Move over Moe's this place is a gem! Not only is the music great, but the cocktails and well drinks are inexpensive. The vibe is chic and chill. It's modern decor & prices are reminiscent of 2004 when candy used to cost $0.50 lol. Seriously though...this is def. a girls night out or cute date spot. You could easily go to the museum,zoo or the park and walk over for a drink, two or three! However, most of all is the warm vibe you get from the staff. I have been to Eve's lounge a few times. I love the food very much. The food is always great!!! I recently had the jerk fish tacos can you say awesome!!!! The drinks are very good. 5 stars for the excellent customer service, the waiters double as bartenders, i don't know how they do it. they were very cordial and nice. I should've read the reviews more closely regarding the mandatory 20 % gratuity added to the bill before I chose to dine here. With that being said, I came here on a Friday night and everything was going well until it came time to pay. I noticed the 20% gratuity and asked the waiter if we could speak to the manager and get an explanation about this. The manager sent the waiter back to show us the menu instead of just coming over. We explained to the waiter that we wanted to speak to the manager directly and she finally came over. The manager went on to explain that the business began this practice because "black people don't tip" and theres apparently research to prove this . I found this comment to be highly unprofessional and rude and for that reason I would not dine here again. The service really needs improvement if you're going to behave that way and charge a mandatory 20 % gratuity. Other than that, the food and vibes were good. Also, they no longer have hookah. Update to the owner's comments: The bartender did give us two shots after I suggested it based on the delayed wing service and he also said that it was coming out of this pay. Your response is evident that your establishment is lacking in customer service skills. As an owner you should've apologized and did something to make it a pleasant memory instead of chastising me on yelp when it was your staff's error. Furthermore, it is not my duty to inform you and/or your staff on how to select good brands of cheese. I'm on yelp to share my opinions of services and I felt that I was very fair. This place is a small typical bar. I came here on a friday night thinking it would be Alive and entertaining but it was quiet and everyone just watched the sports. This place is a hidden gem. It's not too big nor too small. We went on a Wednesday night which also happens to be Karaoke night. The other guest were really into the Karaoke theme- us? Not so much. The honey whiskey wings were good along with the rum punch. But make sure you ask them to make it not so sweet with less grenadine. Skye made my drink. She was super friendly. So I went to Eves Lounge lasy night with my sister aftet finding them on Google. It is a pretty small spot, nice and intimate. I arrived at 6:30 and there were only 4 other ppl there with 90's music playing. My sister arrived 30 min later and we had a blast. We enjoyed happy hr specials on Martinis. We had burgers and the garlic parmesean fries (delicious). A Dj came in at 8 and kept the 90's groove going. I'm just very disappointed with the service I received at eve lounge. If you want to order the hookah, just keep in mind that it is non- tobacco that cost $35. I wish they would put that in the menu or at least inform people that it is non-tobacco. If you going to order one of the 40 ounces drinks, it is watered down for $25 dollars. And now for the bill...keep in mind it is an automatic 20% gratuity. For a watered down drink and for a non disclaimer of non tobacco hookah, yes you guess it; all came out to $75 and some change. And the 20% is a business decision as I was told. EVE LOUNGE have a lot of potential because I have been there before once, and it was great. Only reason I'm giving them a 2 star is because it black owned and blonde bar tender was great and still have that same energy(wish I went to her). So I decided to go this past Friday night 10/20. Food: Pretty good for what looks like a tiny kitchen. We had the fried shrimp which was pretty good. I had the garlic Parmesan fries and my date had the sweet potato, both of which were good and not oily at all. Drinks were ok. I had a henny colada and my date had a margarita which she said was good. Service: Here's where it gets bad. We sat by the entrance where there are 3 two seat tables and we happened to sit at the middle table. So we were having our drinks and the owner comes over and kinda abruptly moves us over a table because she said she needed to accommodate a party of 4, which was no where to be found at the time. Ok no biggie. So we order our food and we both ordered shrimp and fries, unfortunately they only come out with one order of shrimp because the waiter said he didn't hear me. Ooook I know I'm not crazy and I said it loud and clear, but fine I still want them. He comes back to the table and says it would be 25 mins until they'd be ready, which i don't get even if its a small kitchen so i said scrap that. He then disappeared and never checked if we needed something, or ask if the food was ok, do need extra napkins, a refill or anything like that. Once he finally resurfaced we order shots and then ordered another round of shots. Sat for about 10 mins wondering where the other round of shots were....Now its about 20 mins and STILL no shots have come and I can't find the waiter. At this point i just want my check and to get out of there. He finally comes back acting surprised that the shots never came. On top of that, i had to wait another 10mins just for him to print the check. Now here's the best part, considering the messups and having to wait for drinks that never came they automatically charge 20% gratuity for any size party. CRAZY...I don't mind paying for good service at all, but that night their service was horrendous and seriously lacking. So I ask for the owner. She comes over and I explain how the service sucked and I'm not paying 20% gratuity for garbage service. You would think she'd be apologetic, but no she looked at me and says "we are really busy tonight, I can take the gratuity off." Not a sorry, no concern, no nothing. So to put the cherry on top of the night, she brings the check back and without saying a word drops it on the table over the shoulder of my date and walks off. Well that's a good way to save face and represent your business. Look up the definition of customer service and study it. Please train your servers properly and get organized, there's no excuse the place ain't that big. TRUST I will never be back.
