I even got my money back for the overdone meat on two pieces of bread. The Happy Hour wasn't too happy as the drink prices were a little steep. Been coming here for a few years and this place started out great. You could order a great martini and happy hour used to be good. The food was not all fried and oily. Fast forward today and this place is only worth it on Tuesday. Given it will get plenty busy with younger crowd. The 1.25 beer and 3.25 jack special free flows here. Don't expect to always find a place to sit.l cause there might be none. Come with a few friends and you will have a good time. They also have karaoke and live entertainment during the week. Stopped at Evil Olive last night with my husband and BFF. It was early so there were only a few patrons....not crowded or busy at all. We sat at the bar and waited to be served and waited and waited; as did the two guys standing next to us. The solidary bartendar obviously can not multi-task and was singularly waiting on a couple of guys at the other end of the bar. But it wasn't so much that she was chatting them up instead of asking for our order but that she never even acknowledged our presence. Looked straight at us and not even a "I'll be right with you" escaped her lips. So....we got up and left and went down the street to Wetmore City LImits. An older establishment than Evil Olive but has much better service, cheaper drinks, a good pour. We sat on their patio and enjoyed the evening and their bartendar even came out to check on us & bring another round. Then we stopped at Faulkers for a night cap where the bartendar there was personable and very nice. Evil Olive lost out on a sizeable tab!! But, this wasn't the first time this has happened - although it will be the last. If Evil Olive isn't going to have wait staff then they should at least have adequate and EXPERIENCED bartendars. The only thing that may bring us back is the Phil's Diner food served inside Evil Olive. read more

Evil Olive is such a cool place: Great patio with big trees and a large spacious interior that never seems to feel crowded. Inside is complete with darts, several big screen TVs and music that's not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. For a Friday night I saw folks of all ages dressed in shorts, jeans, dresses and everything in between. Yes, it's my kind of place. I had my usual drink, a skinny margarita (tequila, club soda, fresh lime) with Patron Silver for $5.50 and it wasn't even happy hour. WOW! The food is above average for bar food. I recommend the pulled pork tacos and the fried mac and cheese balls. Yummy. Unfortunately, no table service so you have to walk up to the bar every time. I have always loved the evil olive, I have been there for dollar beer night (Tuesday nights) for weeks now. Loved the crowd loved the environment. Tonight I was turned away because I have an out of state ID. I am a graduate student from Tennessee (23 years old) and the bouncer told me it was a rule they did not accept out of state IDs on Tuesday. The bartender was really great! The drink prices are average. I went on a Tuesday after work and it was a much older crowd than I expected. No music but it was lively. This is the bar I call home. Great atmosphere and the staff makes it all worth the while. I came here on a fluke months ago and ever since then I have made the best of friends here. Derek, Josh and Shannon are by far the best in town. If you want a good drink this is the place to be. Reasonable prices and great selection. I have brought several of my friends here and now they are regulars too. But if you're looking for a bite to eat this kitchen will more than wet your pallet it will make it crave more. Went by to see what is all about. I saw them working on the place to get ready to open up. Better then the other bar. Cleaner & nicer place4. I like the colors. Bar is nice and big with an open atmosphere. The bar had daily bar specials. (Great specials during the week) But "BEST" of all was the food. I had the Bar BQ tacos, the Muncher's sampler and the Banana Wontons ! The best in town no kidding aside. The food made all the differance for late nite eating. We, husband and I, tried the Evil Olive for the second time last night with the hope that our bad experience the first time was an exception. It was not and this time was even worse. The main reason for giving it a second chance was to try the food again, but with such horrible bar service, we never got our food. They have plenty of staff, but they are too busy chatting and doing shots with select customers. That was the same problem the first time too. Management needs to do some managing. I have never seen so many bartenders doing so many shots with the customers. Since this was on two separate visits, it doesn't appear that it is unusual for this place. Walking in you have to go through the smokers patio, tried to race through so as to not smell of smoke the rest of the night. People were 2-3 deep standing up to the bar, but there were still a handful of empty tables. I sat down at a table while my husband went to the bar to order beers. A couple of bartenders were right in front of him, could see him, but kept talking to their select customers and would not acknowledge him. Once he finally got one to care that he wanted to order she was abrupt, but did get the beers. Same problem when he went back up to order some fries. The bartender takes his order and money, then tells him to stand right there that the order will be right out. After 20-30 minutes, he had come back to the table a couple of times to check on me, and the bartender just barking "It will be right out" when he inquired about the order; we gave up and left. By then we had noticed that no one was eating! There was no food coming out of the kitchen, so what was taking so long? Why can't you be given a number or something instead of standing at the bar waiting? Do they care? read more

drinks were fine but the bar food will be a pass next time. the $8 or $9 nachos had burnt edges not sure if the kitchen was short staffed or not but still you cant send out burnt food. the decor is 100% improvement over Jack's though I used to love that place...ok place for drinks...miss the old pizza place that used to be next door read more

I absolutely love this bar as well as the other local bars owned by the same person. I am spending my New Years here right at this moment and unfortunately Evil Olive has the WORST New Year's DJ EVER!! I've never thought of this place as "ghetto" before tonight. Very disappointed especially after speaking to Rick, the owner, that the music is awful. He stated I was the third person to complain. Yet, the music still sucks multiple bags of dicks. Tuesday evening - My wife and I always try new places, never know when one of these places will become a surprise favorite. The place seemed nice enough HOWEVER, the service was novice and the prices were high for quality of food that came out, which took a while to get to our table. Phil's was transforming into Evil Olive when we arrived and seemed to be busier as we were leaving. The bar had a special on Ziegenbock drafts, after we order them we were told they were out of Ziegenbock. They did offer a replacement beer, Shiner...which was also on special. - The topper on this trip, as if these weren't enough, ARACHNID INFESTATION! Yep, I counted at least 30 small spiders (no joke) crawling around on the concrete flooring the bar/restaurant has inside. My wife pulled over an empty chair and put her feet up so as not to have them crawling on her! Poor management, Poor ownership, Poor attempt at what could be a great place to hang out or eat dinner. I am a regular at this establishment. I live 3 minutes away in the surrounding neighborhood. I'm 25 and like to drink with lots of friends. I tip above 20%. I am exactly the clientele that this establishment is looking for. I have also worked in the food and beverage industry for almost 10 years and let me say, the experience and treatment I received was rather unsettling. 2 friends (one of them is a bartender with 10 years in the industry) and myself walked into the Olive around 6 on a Wednesday for a couple after work beverages before we go home. It was a bit busy for the hour and there was only one bartender and one bar back so we waited politely to be served. Once Allison came over she asked for our IDs and we provided them. Here's where it takes a sour turn. One of my cohorts was recently in a legal matter that wouldn't allow his license to renew, however he did get it dismissed and had the paper that said he was who he said he was and that he could use his expired ID until his real one was mailed to him as long as it was accompanied by the paper. Allison wouldn't accept it, Which is not unreasonable; its busy, she didn't want to read this paper, and why should she care? She already has a full bar to make tips off of. I GET IT. She then gave a us a very sour and sarcastic "Sorry Fellas" with a sneer and walked off without so much as an explanation. My friend, being to embarrassed to fight for it, decides to be the DD for the evening so I flag down Allison and tell her that my friend and myself with valid IDs would like to have a couple drinks and she refuses us. I ask why and she says her owner has made it policy to refuse an entire party because one person isn't drinking.. This normally wouldn't upset me but Allison seemed very confrontational and unnecessarily rude. Had she explained to us the policy in a nice way instead of just walking away with a snarky "Sorry fellas" maybe we would've been more understanding. Instead at this point Josh the bar back decides to come over and point in my face and tell me to get out. As we walk away embarrassed and in shame Allison throws her head back roaring in laughter (literally) as patrons (that I see regularly, because I'm a regular) look shocked, some even offering me their condolences and sympathy. I implore the manager to reach out to me and explain the behavior of their employees. I have 3 years of managerial experience in restaurants, including oversight of bar employees and Allison's behavior was unacceptable, regardless of whether or not I was going to be served. If this is how they treat their community I will not be returning. read more
