Shiner draft was on happy hour for $3. Dad had Sprite. Dad and I shared both the Fried Green Tomatoes, and Fish and Chips. I really liked the tomatoes. It had the perfect breading. We arrived to a little traffic. Told by Ashley Mathias (yep I was given your name) to sit anywhere. We ordered a drink and appetizer. When the appetizer was dropped off, we were given no utensils. My husband waited seven minutes and got up and asked for utensils. At the time she returned the utensils. Our drinks were empty and we weren't even offered to get another drink. As we waited another 10 minutes we decided to eat dinner and grabbed drinks elsewhere. I went and had to go see her to get the bill and when she came back with it I simply explained that we were leaving because we felt neglected. Her comment was well I'm sorry but I have a 15 top and I'm the only one here no hey let me get you another drink. Or Would you like to order anything. Send when she dropped off the bill she said not to argue with anything but you've only been here 28 minutes. What does that have to do with anything if we're sitting there for almost 30 minutes and 15 of that was with empty glasses. Been here multiple times and enjoy the Pub feel. Service is always great, crowd is fun, and the atmosphere makes you forget your in Stone Oak. Food is pub grub, but always well made and Guinness is poured right. We seem to always end up here for St Patty's Day, which is packed and lively. I went to Kennedy's for the first time on an evening after work with a friend and was surprised to see that it had quite the crowd. All of the guests seemed to be regulars and knew one another pretty well. While there, we met each of the bartenders who were all named Ashley. All of the Ashley's were very friendly and hustled to get the orders in/ made. While there, we ordered drinks (deep eddy lime w/ club soda), enjoyed the free popcorn (a bit burnt but you can't complain when it's free) and ordered the loaded nachos to split. The nachos looked great when they arrived but overall they were just OK. We ordered the beef nachos because they were out of chicken and we didn't have much of a choice. With that said, I can't recall having a bite where I even tasted beef - mostly just cheese and lettuce. Overall, i'd come back because of the friendliness od the staff and the relaxed atmosphere. I wouldn't order the nachos again but would happily try something else from their menu. read more

My first visit here was today and it was a recommendation from a couple a locals that I met today. Mike was one of those locals. This place was great. Mike wrote a note with his phone number and told me to give to the waitress. The note said to give me a free drink or appetizer and she honored the note!!! Ashley the waitress was the only one working the tables and the bar and I must say, Ashley was holding the place down. The music was really good and chicken wings were the best! I am a regular , I have never walked out on a tab, we tip bring business etc . The way I was treated was very disrespectful. I was yelled at, told provocative statements and completely disrespected . And after I proceeded to PAY MY TAB after I said I'm still going to be here I'm not stealing she proceeded to walk up to my table make a scene again . " are we friends now, why can't we be friends " ln a sarcastic baby like tone as a 27+ year old in front of my girlfriend yet again instigating and starting an issue . I will be there today to also show this review, I will not be disrespected at my local bar and accused of stealing and practically spit in my face . Went to Kennedy's for trivia night. Service terrible, sat for 20 minutes with no one even acknowledging us ( a party of 6). Finally CHASED a waitress who took our drink and food orders. Unpleasant person because she was soooooo busy. Food arrived, my mushroom burger was not cooked to medium raw, rather cooked to DEATH. The mushrooms were non existent but worse, the bun was burnt to cinders, black. In whole, the burger was inedible and when it was pointed out to the waitstaff, I was offered another bun....ANOTHER BOTTOM BUN. Guarantee, may meet my friends there, but NEVER eat there again!!! This was exactly what I was looking for. It is a bar, with food. Perfect. Plenty of beers on tap. Full bar. My guess is that they have wine (who buys wine at a place like this?) I had Irish Nachos. That means thick slices of potato with cheese, bacon, sour cream. Maybe chives? Think potato skins but better. Fair prices, good service, good people. read more

If you're looking for a comfy neighborhood-style pub, decently priced, and smoky, your search has come to an end. My only gripe with Kennedy's is that it's smoky, other than that, the place is a simple bar with typical forms of bar entertainment: a jukebox, billiards, darts, an arcade game or two, and karaoke or poker depending on the night of the week. They also bring live bands in every now and again. It boasts a good mix of people, and surprisingly a lot of regulars. You'll find them at the bar for the most part, keeping the bartender company in between drink orders. There's a small patio outside, but nothing to write home about in San Antonio. All in all, it's your local neighborhood hole-in-the-wall. And there's nothing wrong with that. read more

I came here after rodeo. I can't tell you anything about the food. And maybe girl maybe but not a clue. But I can tell you thatthe service here is pretty prompt and ready to get your drink. Technically there was just bartenders when I came in. I walked in about 1230 that night. Walk to the bar and looked at the bar tabs. I want to see what flavors they had. Didn't have many Irish beers on tap. They had Kenneth. I consider that. But I thought they had a Sculpin. Since it's a California beer grim Ballast Point . I had to order it. But since it's an Irish pub of sorts. I also ordered a shot of Jamison whiskey. I'm getting to a point. I also had ordered a blue moon. I got my drinks. And I asked to cash out. My bill came out to $18. And the shot of Jamison that I got looked like a double it was served in a glass not a shot glass. This is a good place to come for drinks. Before you go out. Went here at 6 PM with my husband and two older kids and were turned away as they don't allow children. This doesn't come off like just a bar that you wouldn't take kids to, and where we are from, there are many Irish and English pubs we enjoyed where it was not a problem to bring children even thought the place wasn't geared for children (like most restaurants). Granted, I wouldn't bring my kids after 8 or so, but for dinner - why not? We were told there was a sign, and the sign was actually really hard to see. It was really a disappointment as we were looking for a new pub to go to as we are new to the area. I didn't like how we were addressed, and I thought that it would have been nice if the website said something about the restriction and the sign located right on the door where we wouldn't have missed it. read more

Getting introduced to not only this bar, but the staff- especially Kimmy and Danny who I know will look out for everybody in addition to keeping up with the rushes at ease, makes me feel at home. I've been going to Kennedy's for about 4 years now - and the main attraction to me is the chill and laid back atmosphere of the pub. Mainly, my friends and I are always excited to see if Alejandro is there so we can go play some blackjack or Texas hold'em for some prizes while we enjoy a drink. Alejandro is what separates this bar experience from other bars/pubs in San Antonio. His personality and attitude add a an extra level of enjoyment to the pub make Kennedy's an essential weekend destination. As long as Alejandro keeps up the solid entertainment and games, I'll be coming back every weekend. read more

This is our "home bar". We love everything and everyone there! The entire staff has always treated us like family! We have been going there for 6 years and have always had an amazing time! Great drink specials and they have Karaoke on Sundays!!! They show all the games!!! Great food too!!! "Found" this bar back in fall of 2011 when I did a search for "Steeler Bar". Yes, it is black and gold primarily during football season but all are made to feel welcome. It's been my neighborhood bar ever since. It has a nice mix of people of various ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Very laid-back come as you are atmosphere. It has a nice ebb and flow of patrons. Sometimes filling up for a couple hours then almost emptying out and then filling up again with new faces. For smokers it has a nice covered patio area with plenty of seating and outdoor TVs. An added plus is that the smoking area is heated in the winter. Beer selection is average for any bar of this type and size. Barfood is above average for same. I recommend the wings which are in my opinion as good or better than wings from Hooters to Buffalo wild wings. If you come with any regularity you'll become, well, a regular. With that brings a few hidden perks if you will. Which you'll have to become a regular to find out about. :-) The owner, Chuck, makes regular appearances in the bar and presses the flesh with all the patrons. Which gives the place a nice personal touch and in my opinion keeps the place running like a good bar should. read more
