Stopped here last Saturday right before that crazy monsoon hit. Their signs said that they had plenty of choices, including frozen cocktails and some pretty intriguing hard seltzer flavors. Our first few choices were met with counters from the girl manning the cashier station: no frozen cocktails, hard seltzers are only in the form of a 4 pack, and one of the drafts my friend wanted was out. We just settled for two regular Pilsners. The Greenhouse brew was just okay, probably not worth the drive out from LIC. They also came in super small plastic cups, but were charged at regular bar prices. Maybe Evil Twin is better during normal circumstances, but these days are anything but normal and they should learn to adapt to them. read more

Despite living quite the trek away, I've somehow found myself becoming a regular at Evil Twin. Though I live significantly closer to the DUMBO location but always prefer the Ridgewood original. Moreover, this is one of the only places in NYC where I consistently find any excuse to bring out-out-towner who comes to visit - which, in my book, says a lot about a place. Sure, no one is ever excited about the journey here, but everyone is definitely a fan by the end of the night. Over the years, I've tried tons of ET's selections but I always find myself coming back to their sour options. Every variation of DUMB FRUIT is my absolute favorite, but you really can't go wrong here if you're a sour beer fan. Heck, you really can't go wrong here in general, even if you don't consider yourself a beer person - there's something for everyone. A good approach is just picking whatever sounds the most fun, because it probably is. Evil Twin Brewery was love at first sight or should I say, love at first bite. This place is awesome for two reasons, firstly it's pet friendly. Secondly the beers taste like they are fresh out of the brewery! The food from the little food truck outside was delicious. I had a plantain taco for the first time and loved it! For beers we got the Luxurious Luxury and some Banana flavored beer both were really good. First off, this is a b-e-a-U-tiful tasting room which doesn't fit in at all with it's surroundings. It looks much bigger in some pictures but there was plenty of seating inside for a Sunday afternoon and the outside area had more tables for when it's warmer out. If you're a fan of sours, this place will be right up your ally. They had a good handful on tap which most places don't. Aside from that, there was a variety of styles from IPAs to barleywines, stouts, gose, sours, etc...literally something for everyone. 12oz pours for $8 (I think), and they don't do flights but you could ask for 4oz pours (at $4-6 each). Inside there's a "café" of sorts where you can get some coffee or pastries, and outside they had a dumpling vendor who was serving up some awesome dumplings of all sorts. We had an experience getting here since one of the subway lines had track work but typically if you're taking the train from LI you can get off at the East NY stop and take the subway pretty much straight there and it's a 5min walk. Sunday early afternoon, this place is surprisingly abuzz(ed) with people. Spacious/light-filled taproom sporting a modern decor and seating all around. Draft list consists of 20 lines of their own beer, collaborations, or guest drafts. Started off with the "Our Marshmallow, Raspberry, Cherry, Vanilla Slush Pop" ($7) - a nine oz. pour of super sweet and tart IPA that had none of the hoppiness but lots of flavor. Pivoted next to the "Wild Banana Split Stout" ($9) - a twelve oz. pour of a super strong and dark stout with a creamy taste that makes it easy to drink. Evil Twin rules. The tap room is an airy, open space with a high ceiling; a little set back from the street, enclosed in glass. It being a tap room, it's situated right next to their brewery on George Street. The aesthetic is kind of light industrial, with lots of nice bare plywood and pretty hanging plants, and the emphasis clearly on the brews. Two walls behind the bar are emblazoned with stock-ticker like LED signs showing the names and prices of each beer. If you're not familiar with Evil Twin, you'll get a kick out of discovering some of the names. They're the most original (and some of the longest) out there. Example "I Talk More To The Coffee Cart Guy Than My Mom" () Outside of some artisanal-looking potato chips and some pastries in a case, food does not appear to be on the menu. But I have seen food trucks parked out front many times (though no vegan ones so far), as well as on occasion a little Thai food kiosk outside near the office. Just as my friend and I were wondering whether ordering in would be an option, we saw a person delivering two large pizzas to a group of customers. I'm guessing it's okay, at least for now? (Not sure whether Evil Twin plans to offer food in the future) So I knew going in that I'd likely go for the lightest beer on the menu, which I believe is the Greenhouse Lager. As many of the beers sounded heavier and stronger than what I typically prefer, I did decide to get the Greenhouse Lager. It was so delicious and *so* *fresh* ---- I can't even express to you. I can't speak for the other beers as I haven't tried them yet and typically don't go for higher alcohol type offerings. But given the quality of the lager I had, I do plan to try a few of the more adventurous selections. By the way -- any fellow fans of Twin Peaks out there? Fun spot to grab a beer! They just opened a few weeks ago and have plentiful seating to grab an IPA or sour beer (don't worry they have a few other options too) They have clever, New York-y names for their beer that may make you laugh or make you cringe but A+ for creativity. Since I visited only a few weeks of opening the place was packed and lines were long. Probably a 20 minute wait standing in line mid-Saturday afternoon. I recommend getting 2 beers to try and sample or grabbing a few to test among friends! I tried both the Cherry Cola (#18) sour and one of the lighter IPA options (#14). The cherry cola beer was like dessert and the IPA was really nice - and I don't even love IPAs normally! While I had eaten beforehand they have a taco truck right outside which seems like an excellent combination A few tips on how they could make this place go from a 4 to a 5: -Add more staff on Saturday afternoon, they are a new spot so I understand they are swamped though it would be amazing if they could make the line a bit more efficient -offer flights or smaller beer sizes (4 or 8 oz options so we can try even more flavors) Really excited to continue going back to Evil Twin! read more

Our trek to Brooklyn, this was a cute brewery. The brewery is quite inconspicuous in this neighborhood. I would have walked past it if it weren't our friends. The brewery is in a green house type of building. Bright and natural lighting, surrounded by draping pothos. What a vibe! Compared to west coast breweries which have slightly limited options, usually less than 10, I was surprised to see that Evil Twin boasted twenty beers! So many options. I usually go for an IPA. I had the double IPA, the snow dump. I chose it especially for the occasion as it was actually snowing that day. The IPA was on the sweeter side and not as hoppy. Nothing wrong with that, just different from a west coast IPA. Next, we tried the sours. Oh my gosh, I am not a sour beer type of gal, but these were phenomenal! The berry sours tasted pretty similar, but were a favorite in our group. Not sure if the food stand outside is affiliated with this brewery, but they do allow you to take the food inside. i'm a fan of this brewery and found myself impressed by their craft beers, which is pretty big considering i've spent my entire life being an anti-beer girl and never thought i'd actually enjoy it! This is a super cute spot in Bushwick that would be perfect for a night hangout with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a well decorated space. They have a large variety of flavors and menu options and there's something for everyone! I came with friends and we got to try a flight of flavors and I really liked the sour I tried. I'm by no means a beer connoisseur but it definitely counts for something that my sips resulted in more "mmm"'s than "ew"'s. I really liked the vibes here and had fun chilling with friends outside. It's not quite a taproom yet (though they have some taps available for tastings), but for now, it's a great popup shop and you walk 7 minutes to Nowadays for the Evil Twin tap takeover. BLUF: Love the greenhouse ambiance and the sweet kitty-cat mascot they have. My wife and I had a great time here. It was definitely lively when we went. We were happy to have been able to grab seats in a corner nook. We went through two flights and enjoyed ourselves with the environment, people-watching, and especially the kitty-cat mascot of the brewery. So cute! They checked for vaccination cards at the door. There aren't too many things that'll convince me to venture this far out of Manhattan, but Evil Twin is always a favorite. In short, Evil Twin is good at everything. Their beers are incredibly creative, and while some of it sounds or looks bizarre, you can almost always count on it being really, really good. Stouts? Amazing. Milkshake sours? Amazing. Hazy IPAs? Amazing. Even their hard seltzer (ugh) is impossible to dislike. For COVID: they have a bunch of covered outdoor picnic tables with heat lamps, though dressing for the cold is still a must. The tables are well distanced, and the staff are great about wearing masks and enforcing mask wearing. Seating is first-come, first-served. Weeknights and early on weekends, it's not hard to get a table, but later on weekends it starts to fill up quite a bit - plan accordingly! read more

Good beer, thats what gets this rating. The space itself is okay. I can't believe they spent $4M to build it out. IMHO, not enough space for the known crowds that will continue to hit up this spot, especially once it gets super cold outside and half the seating is unusable. The inside is a bit crowded and getting a beer can be very disorganized at times. They do flights, but no paddle board, not even a basic board. Maybe I should go into the business of having a BYOPD so no matter where you go, you have one to carry your taster glasses away from the bar, lol. They don't do food, but they had 2 food trucks there including a Russian truck and a Bao tent. The bao tent was decent for the money. They have merch here to the right along with cans to go. Review is for both pre-covid and during covid. Most inventive beers you'll find in the neighborhood. Usually a lot with lactose a.k.a. milk sugar. A lot of sours, occasional double dry hopped pale ale, stouts, often there's a couple of lighter beers like lagers or pilsners on the menu. Love how they incorporate unusual flavors into the sours and stouts, such as marshmallow and various tropical fruits. During covid they started selling frozen cocktails which were unbalanced---too alcoholic. But those are about the only things I *wouldn't* recommend. Sometimes there's a food truck/cart that sells hot food but otherwise you'll have to order delivery or subsist on the state-mandated snacks. I came into Evil Twin brewery with relatively low expectations. I've tried the other breweries in the area before at past Yelp events and quite frankly they were awful. When I came into Evil Twin, my first impressions of the place was pretty positive. It already looks well maintained and cared for unlike Queens Brewery. I can't recall all the names of their beers. I just checked their website and they've already switched up their menu. From what I can remember, I had a 10% alc IPA (name had something to do with bushwick I think), that took me sometime to warm up to and enjoy. The flavor starts off very strong and bitter but after a few minutes with it, I found myself enjoying this one. Ginger IPA or beer? Something with Ginger in it which was very smooth and refreshing. Dumb fruit, thick smoothie like drink? I don't even know what to label this one but this was seriously unique and good. It has the texture of V8 vegetable juice, that's the only thing I can think of when describing it. The fruit flavors were very rich, the drink was a purplish red. Verdict - I spent the entire afternoon at Evil Twin with my friend whom lives literally just 3 blocks away from the brewery. Evil Twin is an absolute neighborhood gem. I think there was a food truck outside as well. Outdoor and indoor seating were plentiful on a Saturday afternoon. I am definitely coming back soon to try their winter specials on tap. Even though the beers are a bit pricier, Evil Twin Brewing is without question one of the best breweries in New York City, and their new taproom is worth a visit. Quality: Evil Twin Brewing has garnered an excellent reputation in the NY beer scene, so it is not surprising that their taproom is already such a huge hit. Providing a great showcase to their many eclectic beers, they set up in a nicer space than most breweries can dream of. During our visit we ordered six different beers, Sour Pepper, Westchester is Upstate, Sweet Potato Casserole, Coffee Cart Guy, Extra Fancy Gourmet, Artisanal And Uber Hand Selected Style Ale, and Long Beer Names. It was a set of complex darker beers, which worked well on a winter night. Sweet Potato Casserole, a sour IPA with all sorts of fun flavors added including sweet potatoes, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, pecans, marshmallows, and maple syrup was the hit of the evening. But from the small selection we tried, there was not a bad beer in the bunch. Quantity: It is a much better deal to go for the larger pours here. Value: $4 for 4oz Pours. $6-$8 for Draft Pours. Ambiance: Evil Twin Brewing is a relatively new taproom located in the Ridgewood area of Queens. The brewery is huge and split across three areas. The space begins with an outdoor patio within the alley between buildings. With lights strung up and a food station at the back, folks were taking advantage of it even in the cold. Next to that is the greenhouse section. The largest area of the brewery, it is a big hollowed out glass space filled with lights, plants, and plenty of tables. Here they have the primary taps along with a shop and beers to go. The third space is a more intimate bar area in the back. They had special guest taps set up there, but it could also be used for private events. Alternative rock played loudly in the bar, which created a more upbeat mood than a typical brewery. My only compliant, I don't like the electronic bars used for the tap list. Evil Twin is known for their long beer names, and they were frustrating to read on the changing electronic bars. Crowd: The inside greenhouse area and back bar were packed with people. It was chilly so the patio was relatively empty. Both inside and out are dog friendly. Service: Great bartenders who were quick and friendly even with a large crowd and loud music. Parking: Decent street parking throughout the nearby area. read more
