Nice vibe in Long Island City. Come one, come all: bring yourselves, bring your friends, bring your dog, bring your kid. It can be a lively atmosphere, so speak up. Beer drinkers rejoice, IPAs galore. Even for a novice like me, you can just ask for a "pitcher of light beer." People were outside with their animals, and kids were playing near the rock formation in the street. I also liked that the front/outside is a closed off area in front of the beer garden to keep the kiddies from running amuck while you sit, drink, adult and parent if need be. Good: -large space for multiple groups inside & out -expansive beer menu -Mexican food option near by -"Pride Rock" for kids to play on -Closed off area in front of the beer garden to keep the kiddies from running amuck while you have Bad: -parking depending on when you go

Amazing brewery. In fact is the first one we have been to east of not just the Hudson or the Delaware River in the US and loved everything we tried. The staff is amazing as well and the ambiance is great in an open area undercover with patio seating as well

If you're looking for a chill spot to grab a drink, this LIC brewery is definitely worth checking out! The beer selection isn't overwhelming, but I loved that they also offered wine and cocktails, which is a nice touch. I'm not usually into hoppy beers, but the Dubbel Dragon was my favorite, especially at a At 6.7%, it packed just the right punch. Three of those and I was feeling great, called it a night quick The vibe here is super chill, and the service was fantastic--definitely made the experience even better. The music was mostly rock, which was fine, but I wouldn't have minded a bit of 90s hip hop or rap in the mix for a little more variety. Overall, I had a really enjoyable time and would absolutely recommend stopping by for a drink!

I love going to bar's and breweries and I love them i already reviewed a couple of bars and I want to start reviewing more breweries. I have been to focal so many times I lost count but focal is such a cool chilled placebto hang out with friends family's alike, they have so many choices of drinks On top of having so many choices of drinks theirs also so many choices of food around to buy and bring into focal from Mexican to Indian to pizza. Theirs so many different types of beers from IPA to stout to sours and also to mixed drinks if you want to hang out at a chilled awesome place please I highly recommend focal. From the service to the drinks to the environment focal is awesome place to be to relax and have a nice awesome drink the bartender's are awesome respectful and they never rush. I had one of my new favorite drinks the peach daze it was so so good they also have different nights board game night movie night and trivia night. If you are in the long island city area please pop in have a drink play some board games and have a cold one honestly one of the best breweries around.

Great place to grab some beers. I got the 7oz of all the sours they had (Improper Berrial, Tangerine Queen, Plot Twist) and sat at a booth for an hour to enjoy on a snowy day. Tangerine Queen was my favorite of the 3 but they were all good. Bartender was very nice and quick with ordering. It was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon and it's nice that you can seat large parties here.

This place is so super chill and people are very nice. They were cool with you bringing food from other joints in since they don't have a kitchen. I recommend ordering from lupo rossa! They have good beer and lots of space. The space is great for large groups, they have board games, lots of tvs and a big screen. Wednesdays nights they have trivia. The music is classic rock which I love. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy microbrews and just a fun place to hang with friends/families. During the day families even bring their little ones.

This place had such a welcoming vibe to it. Claudia the Bartender truly made us feel so at home. Guided us through the beers and even offered a few fun drinking games to add to Uno. Was such a fun place to hang with friends Can't wait to come back!

    Tasting pour, in the yard.

Focal Point (formerly Iconyc) makes some great beer and has a lots of options to try. Beers may be ordered in a tasting size to a full pint. Located on 12th street, you enter into a large sized tasting room, with lots of seating and a long bar. The IPA, Saison, Stout were all well made and tasted great. Service was quick and friendly. Once you choose your beers you can opt to sit inside or out in their yard. If you'd like to sit out on 12th street, that's OK too, they just give you plastic cups vs. glass. Inside is comfortable, but can get quite loud. Through the yard you can enter Sobremesa next door and order some terrific Mexican food to enjoy with your beer. Don't sleep on their nachos. Focal Point may be my favorite brewery to visit in the area.

Focal point is a delightful brewery in LIC which I'm sure is going to become a staple of my weekends. The drinks are good and relatively cheap--at least when compared to Manhattan. A 64oz pitcher came out to around 32 bucks which, for NY, is something I can't complain about. Staff were also very nice. I think the best part is that it seems to be a solid part of the local community--they seem to have events all the time and have an alright selection of board games for anyone to use.

Complete renovation at Iconyc. Turns out they took over some of the interior in the building next door. They have ample seating now with great heating and tons of restrooms. The service is great and you can bring food from next door. Highly recommended!

Cool brewery to check out when in LIC. Loved seeing doggos chilling inside. Tried the Chronyc, an hazy IPA, which was delicious while others ordered a few cocktails. Spacious area and good food such as buffalo wings and nachos from next door. They have a couple of board games to play and we decided to play Battleship which was fun. If you're looking for a chill and spacious brewery in LIC, this is it!

Top left going clockwise: CHRONYC, Breaking ground, Peel Out, Desert Rose
    Jillian B.

Went to ICONYC as part of a self guided brewery tour recently. It is a large space with tons of seating both inside and out. Because of this it seems like a lot of parties happen.. we saw two birthday parties at the space during our time there! We shared a few tasters, with my favorite being the Desert Rose and my partner liking the ChroNYC the most. We also grabbed chips and salsa from next door as iconyc doesn't have food (they let you bring it in!). As a gal who likes sours, this wasn't at the top of my list because of the limited options, but the sour I did have was good and the other beer was solid for what it was (even if not my favorite).

Our small group was here after a long walk, and everyone was in the mood for a drink. In terms of food, they have some snacks, and there are food carts outside on certain days. Sunday's option was Mom's Momos right outside, but the cart was unfortunately out of most of their things, but this is not the brewery's fault. For my selection, I decided to get a few of the 5oz (or 5.5oz) sampler/tasters of two $4 beers, and eventually a third, instead of getting a 10oz pour, though the pricey Cuvée Barley Wine sounded interesting. The bartender, who appears to be the owner from the photos online, was friendly and gave good suggestions. My favorite of the bunch was from their rotating cask selection, which was a bit surprising as I tend to like sours and stronger beers. This was the Billy Neverwilly, a 5.6% APV English Pub Ale, or Bitter. As expected for the style, it was very pleasant, being malty with a little bit of bitterness. For the percentage, which is higher than the typical pub ale, it was surprisingly drinkable. If I got an $8.50 20oz pour, it would be very dangerous, as I could easily drink another few. More unique, but still tasty, was the Grätzer, a 4.0% Grodziskie, or smoked wheat ale, a style originally from Poland. Previous to this, the only smoked beer I ever had was the German Rauchbier, using smoked barley. The most well-known one is the original from Schlenkerla, and it is pitch black with an off amber head, very smoky, and very tasty, and you can find it at Karczma in Greenpoint. The color in this case looked like any typical wheat ale/witbier with white foam and had a very mild smoky smell. The flavor was interesting, with the initial sip tasting like your typical citrusy wheat ale, but with a smoky aftertaste. The last of the brews was the Guava Goggles, a 5.5% Sour Ale with Guava and Lime, which he recommended over the similarly named Berry Goggles. It was primarily sour, but had some mild sweetness from the guava and a bit of tang. Occasionally, I find guava a bit overpowering, but it worked here. This was again refreshing and easy to drink. I would go back here, and next time, I would probably go with the Infernal Optimism, a 6.7% Smoked Porter, which seems available frequently. I also wouldn't mind trying something else interesting, as everything was good, which is rare for the number of styles I tried. Nice rotating taps, nice staff, and a good, large space. It's hard to dislike this place.

SingleCut Beersmiths is a craft brewery that opened in Astoria, Queens, New York in December 2012…read more It was founded by Rich Buceta. The Queens native began homebrewing in his apartment in 2004 and eventually was hired to work at the now defunct Greenpoint Beer Works in Brooklyn. A huge music fan, Buceta decided to combine his passion for craft beer and music and open his own brewery. In order to finance his dream, Buceta sold off his collection of vintage guitars. When the brewery finally opened, it was the first production brewery to open in Queens since Prohibition. The name "Singlecut" was chosen in reference to the luthier term for a guitar that is crafted with a single cutaway, or a notch cut into the body of the instrument on one side to provide easier access to the upper frets. SingleCut quickly became a popular New York brewery and by 2017 it had reached capacity. In 2018, the brewery purchased the former Shmaltz Brewing Company facility in Clifton Park. Dubbed "SingleCut North", the secondary taproom fully opened to the public in September 2019. A third taproom, dubbed "SingleCut Barn & Lodge", fully opened in Manlius in April 2023. I visited SingleCut Beersmiths this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn and Queens breweries and pizzerias and this was my fifth stop of the day. The taproom in Astoria is spacious and inviting. I really liked the back room which was loaded with a nice selection of pinball machines. I pulled up a seat at the bar. There's a big stack of vinyl records on shelves and the staff were spinning a great selection of tunes during my visit. Throughout my visit, I enjoyed short pours of "18-Watt" (Session IPA), "Big In Japan" (DDH IPA), "Full Stack" (Double IPA), and "Heavy Boots of Lead" (Imperial Stout).
