It pays to recycle! This will be my Yelp's #ThankYouThursday (updated) review. I appreciate this small recycling business place. Been coming to these guys for years to get my recycling done. The Owner and staffers here are pretty nice. Updated Hours, November 2020: Mondays thru Fridays: 9am to 4pm. Closed During Lunch: 12pm to 1:30pm. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: Masks and social distancing strictly enforced. If you forgot to wear your mask, the staffers will remind you. Bring your own hand sanitizer (or wipes) and gloves (gloves are optional if you want to wear them while sorting out the recyclable items). Recyclable Items must say CA CRV on them. Otherwise, they will not accept it. You come there - get the mesh tins for the plastics and soda cans and the garbage cans for the glasses (brown glass are separate and the green and clear ones can go together). They will check your recyclables to make sure you are not putting anything in there that doesn't list CA CRV. Staffers are pretty quick with trying to get you in and out (depending on how many customers are there, and how much recyclables they have). I'm usually in and out within 20mins.

Recycled bins with holes are for cans or plastic bottles. Gray bins are for glass bottles.

*Hours of Operation* Monday-Saturday 9am-4:30pm They close on lunch Monday-Saturday 12pm-1:30pm. *Price/lb* $1.66/lb *Basic Steps of Recycling at Evolution* 1. Park at the parking lot next to the facility. 2. Separate your recyclables by aluminum cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles. The bins with holes are for cans or plastic bottles. The small gray bins are for glass bottles. *Note they only take mostly single use beverage containers/bottles. For example, they won't take food cans, plastic milk/fruit juice jugs or wine bottles. 3. After you have filled your bins, wait in line to give them to a staff member. Once they finish weighing your bins, they will hand you your money in cash and you're done! Thanks for recycling and for supporting this center!

I usually go to S.O.,S. Recycling center in El Sereno. But when I past by this place, I saw it was not very busy so I returned the next day. The guy that runs the center is Spanish speaking, seemed like a nice guy. I was in a hurry that late morning for I had to pickup my son from work at the Children's Court in Monterey Park at noon. So the gentleman asked me if I had my recycle separated and I said yes so he bumped me up front and was able to make my deadline time. His employee was very helpful and respectful and even assisted me transferring my recycle in the baskets. That's being thoughtful and considerent for their customers. Way to go guys!! I recommend this recycling center to all looking to recycle In the San Gabriel area.

Ask the Community - Evolution Recycling

    Do they take cardboard boxes?

    No

How do you get the money from your recycle?

The guy working there will give it to you.

Do I need to sort bottles by colors and type? Do they take wine bottles?

No you just dump them all together into bins. As for wine bottles, you'll need to ask someone else or call the place to make sure.

Will they be open on Memorial day?

    Probably closed.

Does this place recycle white paper?

No paper. Just cans, plastic bottles and glass beer bottles.

Should I smash aluminum cans or plastic bottles before recycling them at this facility?

Hi. I always crush my cans and plastic bottles. They do not read the bar codes like some places do. It's all by weight.

    Is this place open?

It is open from 9 to 4pm Monday thru Saturday, close for lunch between 12 to 1:30pm. I just went this morning, the owner was there collecting our bottles.

Is this place open now during the lock down?

    Yes it is currently open.

It's in the same plaza as Ralphs, off of Emerson Ave. This isn't my usual recycling place. So it was a surprise to me to find out that they accept wine bottles and even those Ragu jars! (Be sure to clean the inside since the workers have to break it down themselves.) My regular recycling center didnt take those so I've been just tossing it in the trash. (My garbage company says they will separate it out but somehow I am skeptical.) Since finding this place, I've been bringing all of my wine bottles and glass jars here. As for the value when it comes to these glass items, I'm not sure if I am getting a fair price or not since I have nothing to compare it to. But at least in my situation, I am getting a little something instead of absolutely nothing when I toss it in the trash. The lines go quickly at this location. It's definitely a shorter wait time compared to my usual place. And the staff here are friendly. I've been back and will keep coming back!

It's at the parking lot right next to Ralph's with about 6 parking spots right in front of it. The people working there are nice. They go on lunch break from 12pm-1pm I believe. Last time I did go about after 1pm and they were not there yet so keep that in mind. They now take glass bottles individually instead of by weight and the pricing changed since my last visit but I don't pay too much attention to the prices since this is just extra money to me. The process is easy - just separate your cans, bottles, and glass. This location doesn't take gallon milk cartons but the montebello location does.

Punch line before story- watch the weight on the scales!…read more We had the copper removed from our home that will need a rebuild after a fire. Our plumber brought his apprentice over who knew there are 3 different price levels. Pure copper pipe. The parts that connect that have solder. And the brass parts Upon arriving we thought there would be an entrance in the back alley. Nope. Customers unload in front on San Fernando Rd. An attendant will give you garbage containers to haul metal in. We had 3 types so 3 bins. When the man at the weigh station put the copper on I was watching the screen and took a photo. (Our plumbers apprentice had warned us about this place and said the best price was in Simi or Sunland...too far and too long for our meager amount) Then he weighed the other two while we were talking with another staff member. (Shouldn't have been distracted while conducting business) The guy at the scale shows us the total and I realize the Copper 1 was now much lighter than the original weight! I showed him the photo on my phone and he corrected it! In hindsight I should have had all 3 weighed again. But we were tired, dirty and the whole process pretty depressing and I didn't want to make a huge deal out of it. So consumer beware! It's a good service they provide and somewhat convenient location. But be aware and pay attention!
