Poor experience and unreliable scheduling. I had a 60min deep tissue session (that was cancelled). My second scheduled appointment I made immediately following the first was also canceled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No discussion of prior injuries or problem areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As one who's employed multiple massage therapists in my own practice (sports chiropractor) I didn't feel there was any sense of timing. At the end of 60 min there was a little work done on one shoulder but none on the other. I also mistakenly purchased a package of 90min sessions (to allow for proper symmetry) immediately following that appointment. After the second cancellation and the 5 days of lumbar pain I experienced (not muscle pain from the work) I didn't want to return. Apparently there's a "no refund" policy. While I can gift the sessions to someone else, I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone I know. So I'm out $900. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I politely requested a refund and followed up but I was told their staff would review my case and get back to me in 3 business days. I recently visited this spa to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I booked services for five family members weeks in advance and was assured that all our requests could be accommodated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of my sisters, who had recently given birth, asked about treatments where she could hold her baby, and Katie, the soon-to-be owner, suggested a leg and foot massage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, the day before our appointments, I received a call to confirm, only to be told that all the original times had been changed without prior notice or apology.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was no discussion about whether the new times would work for us--just a statement that these were the new times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The revised schedule would have required us to be at the spa for over 5 hours (when it was originally planned for around 2.5 hours), which conflicted with other plans for my mom's birthday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a result, several family members had to either cancel or adjust their services. Additionally, despite previously suggesting a treatment for my postpartum sister, Katie informed me she could no longer accommodate her and said "I'm not sure how It would be possible to do a leg and foot massage while holding a baby" even though she's the one that originally suggested It. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we attempted to discuss the situation over the phone, Katie abruptly ended the call promising to get back to me, but that never happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up finalizing the adjustments via text instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arrival, Katie's demeanor was far from welcoming. At one point, she unpromptedly asked my sisters if we "fight a lot," which I found highly unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given the stress I was already under planning this special day for my mom, her approach only added to my frustration. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While my treatments were excellent, when I asked to provide feedback, Katie's response and tone were defensive and condescending, leaving me feeling unheard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I explained that I was only trying to offer constructive feedback, especially since she's set to take over the business in January. She mentioned that they had lost staff recently, which I understand can be challenging, but all I wanted was an initial genuine apology. Although she did offer a 10% discount, which was a kind gesture, the experience as a whole was not what I had hoped for, I won't be returning & I don't see myself or my family ever recommending this spa to anyone. read more

We scheduled a 90 min couples massage and it was only 70/75 mins including getting undressed and dressed. I asked about it and was brushed off. So the service is NOT 90 mins at all. The massages were not great. It literally felt like my husband was the one rubbing me...he felt the same way. I was going to question the first 5 minutes if they were licensed massage therapists bc it really didn't feel like they knew what they were doing. Honestly worst part of our miny getaway. Cost the most for the least amount of time and effort put in for a massage. I should of just spent the money at our hotel at the spa. We aren't regulars at the Evolve Spa in New Buffallo but every summer for the past 7-10 years we have come to the area for a weeks vacation and 2-3 of us have booked services with this Spa each of those summers. The "soon to be owner" sits behind the front counter managing clients and what's left of her staff, very badly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Three of us booked services a week ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My massage started at 9am. I got there and it seemed as though it was more important for her to get her daughter to a play date, rather then making me feel greeted and settled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My masseuse came to the front and brought me to my room. My massage was good. At the end of my service I came out to find my daughter and my daughter in law sitting in the back waiting area frustrated and upset. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My daughter told me that the "soon to be owner" had talked down to the facial gal in front of her, making my daughter very uncomfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When my daughter asked the facial person what was going on the facial person told her that her last day was very soon because of how the employees are treated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When my daughter in law inquired about her body wrap service and her 30 minute massage the front desk " soon to destroy the business" lady said " well the wrap wasn't written down on the schedule so you can't have one![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My daughter in law said" we booked a body wrap and 1/2 hour massage for me and we remember booking it with the other services for the 3 of us for today. The front desk woman stated " well we won't do it because it takes too much time to set up![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My daughter in law wanted to experience a spa treatment on vacation with the rest of us, so she maintained her calm good nature and asked if she could get a facial and her 1/2 massage. The front desk woman said " well ok" and proceeded to call the masseuse to the desk in front of my daughter in law and say to the masseuse " well now you are only going to do a 1/2 hour instead of an hour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Both the masseuse and my daughter in law were embarrassed by the lack of professionalism, tact and customer service this "soon to be owner of Evolve Spa" exhibited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is uncomfortable with her and any client would be mortified and tense trying to get a Spa service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff giving the services are good and trying hard, but I don't think the new owner understands that she's going to lose her 3 remaining people because she's having real difficulties with leadership skills and running a business on securing repeat customers. What a wonderful experience at Evolve Spa yesterday! I had a Swedish massage that was the best I've ever had. Kim did a fantastic job! She worked not only on my areas where I feel more 'knots', etc., but all- over, making me feel totally rejuvenated and relaxed. My 2 girlfriends and I had come here yesterday as part of a girls' getaway weekend and they, too, thoroughly enjoyed their experiences. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and professional. Ruta and her staff are awesome! The spa is lovely; very clean, and has an inviting atmosphere.
