This place is in need of serious work. Our room smelled terrible, the tiled floors had not been cleaned (spill marks), the couch was filthy dirty and desperately needs replaced, the carpet in the dining area was filthy dirty. The place is completely over grown with weeds. The pictures they are using are from the previous owners and long ago! It does NOT look like that at all. We stayed 15 minutes and left. We loved this place! We were there in November but still went to the nearby beach. Also just down the street from Starbucks. The room was super clean. The sheets were soft and the bed comfortable. I would have given it five stars, but it's clearly an older building. However, don't let this turn you away- it's obviously well maintained. Lots of updating and everything worked well. Decided last minute to go to New Buffalo since our trip to Vegas got cancelled at the last minute. We were able to get a room for one night; the SS Post Boy. Absolutely charming one bedroom suite. Very comfy and cozy. Loved the deck off of the living room looking into a nice garden. Sadly, it poured rain our entire time (only stayed one night) so we could not enjoy the deck or walk to town (we drove) but just loved the whole vibe. Thanks Lisa, for letting us book last minute. Recently spent two nights in the Snug Harbor room. We loved it! Had never been to the town before, and even in winter it was still a fun place to visit for a quick weekend away. This is our second stay. The first year we had the lighthouse cottage, this year we were moved to the redbud cottage. New Buffalo is great in the off season, visit the winery's, walk the little shops in town and the rates for the cottage's are reasonable. However, if you are looking for "hotel" this is not it. This is a cute cottage. You wash the dishes you use, you make your morning coffee. But if your looking for a nice quite get a way, this is a must. Close to many things to do. read more

I had booked spa services for my daughter and I to enjoy for her Valentine's day gift. We both had really looked forward to it. On that day, I get a call from Monica saying that we weren't in the books, that my name and number was written somewhere but they couldn't honor our appointments. She was sorry. Sorry didn't cut ruining my day with my daughter. Extremely poor customer service. I recognize that mistakes happen but get your staff in line. When mistakes happen, maybe saying that you are incredibly sorry, offering a FREE service on another date for both of us or something. Completely unacceptable. For our first wedding anniversary, my husband and I were looking for a non-chain place to stay at in New Buffalo that is near downtown and the beach, and New Buffalo Inn definitely fit the bill. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but what I saw far exceeded my expectations. It's essentially a big house converted into multiple 1 bedroom apartments. Each "room" has a different theme. We chose the SS Post Boy, and it was truly perfect for us. It has a huge bathroom with a jet tub, a fireplace (which we didn't get to use because it's August), a cozy bedroom, and my favorite part, a fully stocked kitchen. I'm talking pots and pans, plates, cooking and eating utensils, toaster, coffee maker, full size fridge, full stove, and sink. They even provide dish detergent and sponges to clean. Since NBI doesn't serve breakfast, we brought our own food and made a delicious breakfast that we enjoyed on the patio set on the deck. The grounds, albeit small, was very well kept. There is a fire pit, another patio set, a swing chair, and an outdoor hot tub. It's next door to the spa, but we didn't go because we live in the city and it's hard to turn down the opportunity to spend as much time as we could at the New Buffalo Beach, which only took about 10 minutes to walk there. The walk was even shorter than that to get to all the cute shops and good food in the downtown area. Since we stayed for 3 days, we got a discount. I look forward to going back the next time we're in New Buffalo. read more

My wife and I came here for her birthday and for a one night getaway from the kids. We were not disappointed. We stayed in the Galien room. It was a first-floor room, easy to get to, and very roomy for our needs. There's a gas-powered fireplace in the living room, cable, a nice kitchen, and the bedroom had a Jacuzzi. We hit a local winery, bought a few bottles of wine, and enjoyed them thoroughly in such a cozy setting. The rooming situation was tops in our opinions, so I recommend the place for a nice getaway. Where the family business loses a star is their spa services. We booked a 60 minute Swedish couple's massage. It was basically 60 minutes of getting lightly rubbed with oil together. It was relaxing, certainly, but we didn't get up feeling loose in any way. I am tight in my shoulders, for example. My wife and I let them know that and my wife even suggested that the pressure could be harder. They didn't concentrate on any areas and the masseuse pushed back at the request, saying that the massage didn't come with extra pressure. For $200, we expected more. We still tipped them because it's a family business and hey, they work for tips. I do too. Don't stiff people. So, we would definitely go back. The pricing for the rooms is fair and, again, we really loved the Galien room. We will be sure to avoid their spa services, though. read more

I called to make a same day reservation. The person told me rudely that there were no rooms available. I was very surprised as it was a Sunday evening in January. After inquiring a little more they told me that there were multiple available rooms but that they would not have them cleaned from the previous weekend guests. read more

This place was great! They normally have a multi night stay policy but they accommodated me last minute, for one night! Literally the day before showing up I talked to them and they were so nice in doing so. Also, they have a nice small fire pit outside to end the night by. Great rooms with spacious areas, bedroom and bathrooms. The hot tub in the room was awesome. Lastly, such honest people working there! I left my wallet in the room after checking out and they ended up calling me and mailing it back! I still owe them $4 for the shipping. Definitely will stay again for a quick getaway. read more
