Immediately after my visit, i was introduced to her office assistant who tried to sell me an annual/member subscription for which many services i did not need. i left the office saying i would review, however, most likely a monthly subscription would not be something i would be interested in and went my merry way. Next day i went to my pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions which Dr. Cohen had told me she was prescribing, much to my surprise there were no prescriptions. When i called dr's office, i was referred to office assistant who said, i neglected to tell you last night, but prescriptions are not covered unless you sign up for the membership fee (I JUST PAID $650.00 FOR THIS VISIT AND PRESCRIPTIONS NOT COVERED????????............. I went ballistic -- i said you NEVER disclosed that, what kind of doctor sees a patient and prescribes meds and expects a membership fee, WHAT ABOUT THE $650.00 I JUST PAID WHAT WAS THAT FOR????? NO RESPONSE. OFFICE ASSISTANT APOLOGIZED AND SAID SORRY I DIDNT DISCLOSE THIS ABOUT THE PRESCRIPTIONS LAST NIGHT. I SAID NO WORRIES I AM GOING TO DISPUTE THE AMEX CHARGE AS I DONT PAY DOCTORS THAT ISSUE PRESCRIPTIONS AND FORCE A MEMBERSHIP FEE THAT I DONT NEED DOWN MY THROAT FOR FURTHER INSULT TO INJURY. Bottom line, had i gotten my prescription, all would have been well -- in 4-6 months i would have made another appointment with this doctor as is usual and customary with other practictioners such as her, however, this dr forces you to pay not only $1500.00 for two visits, but then another $3500.00 for the subscription. I thought she was a medical doctor not a personal trainer --- STAY AWAY FROM THIS FALSE PRETENSE OF A PERSON -- she wants to sell shakes that taste horrific, books that make no sense and just in it for the money as opposed to sticking with her oath as a medical practitioner -- plenty of good doctors out there. I will continue to dispute my charge with the credit card company and continue to write these reviews as it is my duty to advise the public to stay far away from Dr. Dana Cohen. She knows what she's doing. However, she only comes into her Manhattan office one day of the week; Thursdays. More importantly, unless you pay her $125 per 1/2 hr visit (rate as of 2011 and $250 initial consultation fee), expect to be short-changed. I left Dr. B when she increased my 1/2 hr session from $75 to $95/hr. She reminded me that since I was a long time client, I was still receiving a discounted rate from the new client rate. The problem is that even at the $75 rate, she stopped providing ultra-sound and massage therapy and only provided heat packs. Then, she would rush to get me out the door after only 15 minutes of treatment. 5 minutes to change out of street clothes into a gown, 12-15 minutes of heat pack, 5 minutes of adjustment and then she leaves so I'm getting dressed at 1:20pm. I was so turned off that I left and found another chiropractor, Dr. Marc Bobrowsky, who specializes in Applied Kinesiology and worked from home for $50 per 1/2 hr visit. He gives you a full 1/2 hr of treatment and his methods helped now and then. Dr. B, did provide ultrasound when she had an assistant, Nneka but she would sometimes come in and take over for Nneka and proceed to end the ultrasound prematurely by turning the timer dial down (you can hear it, Dr. B!) so I was short-changed from the usual 5 minutes. Also, she pushed these Chinese herbal patches which didn't do a thing for me. All they did was leave residue on my skin for several days. She told me there's a money-back guarantee from the maker so I contacted them and they told me to get a refund from the person who sold it. From above, no matter how good she is, you get an idea of how sneaky she can be. Just be aware that you may not get the full treatment if there's any discount, promotion or special offers from the normal $125/visit. Make sure you ask upfront about what the session includes and for how long. Don't forget to listen to that ultrasound dial to get the full 5 minutes.
